Martin Lewis forced to apologise after losing temper and swearing during heated live exchange

Susanna Reid was quick to remind Martin Lewis to regain his composure after the presenter lost his temper on live TV as he discussed the Winter Fuel Payment cut with Lisa Nandy.

GMB: Martin Lewis grills Nandy on Winter Fuel Payment cuts

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport was a guest on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this Wednesday as Martin Lewis demanded answers on the new measure, which has sparked outrage throughout the nation as it could leave many pensioners in a vulnerable position.

Martin, 52, was determined to get to the bottom of things this Wednesday morning as he grilled Lisa Nandy over the government’s intention to make payments means tested. But as he did so, his emotions seemed to get the better of him as he swore on live TV, before immediately apologising.

Martin’s slip-up and clear emotion triggered a wave of reactions over on social media, particularly on Twitter, now X. “Well done Martin that’s the most interesting informative interview I’ve seen on gmb in years she was clueless and unprepared as expected”, one of them penned. And many others followed suit as they reacted to the awkward exchange.

Another praised the journalist as they wrote: “Martin Lewis absolutely schooling Lisa Nandy on #GMB. She doesn’t accept that removing the winter fuel allowance from our poorest pensioners was a huge misstep. Oh how we have missed our journalists holding politicians feet to the fire. Well done Martin.”

A third joined in: “Martin Lewis just tore Lisa nandy apart”, just as a fourth commented: “Lisa nandy getting ripped apart by Martin Lewis.” One final TV fan had a request as they pleaded for Martin to become a more regular fixture on the breakfast show: “Can we have Martin Lewis as the male anchor @GMB. Please? The most versatile, informed, funny, interesting of the other two. Thanks.”

This comes after Susanna Reid welcomed the money-saving expert back to Good Morning Britain this Wednesday, after hosting the show with Ed Balls earlier in the week. ntroducing the show, Susanna said: “Martin, it’s wonderful to have you back in the studio!” Smiling at his co-star, he informed her: “It’s wallet Wednesday.”

The GMB host informed viewers Martin was on the show for an important reason as he was going to be helping people with their energy bills. Susanna highlighted he was only on the programme two weeks ago, however, the energy price cap has now risen by 10%.

Martin replied: “I wasn’t quite sure we’d be doing this but there’s a lot that’s changed.” During the programme, the money-saving expert helped three viewers live on air who came into the studio.

  • Strictly Come Dancing fans convinced Nick Knowles quit show for good after spotting major clue

Strictly Come Dancing fans convinced Nick Knowles quit show for good after spotting major clue

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are convinced Nick Knowles has quit the competition for good after picking up on a couple of hints from the DIY SOS presenter.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing pro 'concerned' for Nick Knowles ahead of live show - Devon Live

Nick watched the live show from the sidelines over the weekend after picking up a second injury during his time on the BBC show. The first injury came when Nick suffered a shoulder injury while in the midst of a roadside car tire change.

He later told BBC2’s It Takes Two, while wearing a sling, that he had suffered the “painful” injury on the way to a family party on September 22 to celebrate his birthday. However, he received medical clearance to perform on that week’s show.

Then, confirming his second injury and the news it was severe enough to temporarily stop him from performing, Nick shared days later: “During our first dress rehearsal today, or run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately I damaged my knee and it’s quite painful. So the physios have decided I need to go for a MRI.”

His professional partner Luba Mushtuk added: “Unfortunately we will not be dancing tomorrow but we really, really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and we’ll be back on the dancefloor. Fingers crossed, we really hope that we’ll be back and see you guys very soon.” Knowles said that “even if we have to glitter up the crutches, I am determined to get back and try and dance for you next week.”

But while Nick has been granted a bye into the third week of the BBC’s beloved dance contest, after missing Movie Week, an update on his condition is set to be unveiled on the companion programme It Takes Two tonight – with Strictly fans convinced it’s bad news for Nick.

Avid followers believe they’ve already cracked the code concerning Nick’s fate after stumbling across tantalising online hints. One remarked: “It looks like has withdrawn from #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing. The routines for Week 4 have just been revealed and he’s not on the list.”

Sharing the rest of the line-ups routines on Facebook, the official account for Strictly said: “We will update you with more news on Nick when we have it.” This sparked exit fears amongst fans, with one quipping: “I think the lack of tunes on Tuesday suggests that they don’t know whether Nick will be able to dance yet.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas gave an update on Nick’s situation this Monday. Nick’s future on the contest rests in the balance and he could potentially forfeit his slot if he isn’t fit to rejoin the upcoming weekend’s proceedings, according to Shirley who shared insights while she visited The Chris Evans Breakfast Show broadcasted on Virgin Radio UK.

However, Shirley has now confessed that she is very hopeful that the star will be back dancing on the programme on Saturday night. Speaking on Virgin Radio UK this morning, Shirley revealed: “Apparently, he is possibly on the mend.” She then confessed she “wasn’t sure” what injuries he had sustained. She continued: “We are hoping that by the weekend he will be back because he is an assert to the show.”

BBC bosses ‘make decision’ over future of murder mystery drama Ludwig

Murder mystery series Ludwig is set to return to the BBC for a second season, after becoming a massive hit for crime drama fans.

David Mitchell stars as puzzle setter in BBC1 comedy crime drama Ludwig

Viewers have dubbed the David Mitchell comedy thriller as “the best series from the BBC in years”, demanding another run. A source close to the show has confirmed that BBC bosses are over the moon with the ratings and reviews and it won’t be long before series two is officially given the green light.

The source said: “There have been a lot of noises about a second series and I would be absolutely gobsmacked if it didn’t come back. Everyone involved at the BBC is delighted with how well the show has done. It’s given them the perfect detective drama, a fresh take on a classic genre. The ratings have been through the roof and all the episodes have been in the Top 10 on BBC iPlayer since the show launched two weeks ago.”

The insider added: “And it’s not just the ratings that everyone is thrilled with, it’s the rave reviews as well, in the press and on social media. You only have to read the comments, with fans demanding more episodes, to know that this will absolutely come back. Hopefully the BBC will make the official announcement before the end of the first season.”

Ludwig continues tonight on BBC1 with episode three, but all six episodes are already available on iPlayer, so fans know that the show ends with a massive plot cliffhanger that primes for another run.

In the drama, Peep Show comedy actor David plays awkward puzzle setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor, whose solitary life is upended when his identical twin, a police detective, vanishes. John is drafted in by his sister-in-law Lucy, played by Line Of Duty and Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin, to assume his brother’s identity to help find him. The final scene of season one revealed a big plot twist about the whereabouts of John’s brother, just as John and Lucy uncovered a massive clue.

David, who executive produces Ludwig, also teased that a second run was on the cards. He says: “Yes, that’s certainly our hope that it will carry on. Fingers crossed. Of course you just hope that people enjoy the first series.” Asked if he would like Ludwig to be an inspiration, David laughs: “I’m megalomaniacal enough to say yes, maybe we will go down in legend as the greatest exponent of the genre.”

  • Coronation Street spoilers ‘give away’ Joel’s real killer – and it’s ‘not Swain or Dee-Dee’

Coronation Street spoilers ‘give away’ Joel’s real killer – and it’s ‘not Swain or Dee-Dee’

Spoilers for a new Coronation Street plot may have given away a major twist – unless of course it’s all a red herring.

Coronation Street spoilers have dropped a major hint about who has killed Joel Deering

A new whodunnit looms as villain Joel Deering is confirmed to have died next week, with his body found in a river. But tests soon confirm Joel has been murdered, with him killed before he entered the water.

Soon a cause of death and a murder weapon are decided on, as well as a date of death. As the police begin to investigate the crime a number of residents are interviewed.

But one key spoiler could give away who is to blame for Joel’s demise. Just last week he went missing after abandoning his car and leaving what the police believed was a suicide note.

His ex Dee-Dee Bailey refused to believe the police’s verdict that he had taken his own life, with her convinced Joel was instead on the run. It will no doubt be a shock for her next week when his death is confirmed – or will it?

After all fans believe her recent behaviour could suggest she was involved in his death, with DS Swain also convincing fans she is involved. But according to spoilers, neither of the women are to blame.

In fact it could be someone rather unexpected, and a character many viewers have long believed to be secretly linked to Joel. If the spoilers are anything to go by this will be proven right, and his killer may have been let slip.

While spoilers tease several characters are questioned over their whereabouts on the night Joel died, there’s a lot of focus on Dee-Dee’s uncle Ronnie. It emerges he was waiting outside Joel’s house the day he vanished, so is he involved?

It isn’t Ronnie the spoilers hint at being the killer though, as one other character just so happens to possess an item believed to be the murder weapon. Troubled teen Mason Radcliffe is teased to be guilty next week when he’s revealed to be hiding a crowbar.

Just as the police state the weapon used to attack and kill Joel is a crowbar, we see Mason acting oddly and trying to hide the same tool. Of course there is nothing to suggest it is the murder weapon or that Mason was the one that used it if it is the weapon itself.

It could all be a major red herring, but what if it’s a double bluff? Fans have long been convinced Mason and Joel are linked, so is this true and has Mason taken a bloody revenge? Is he now trying to get rid of the murder weapon, and have the spoilers let slip the real killer from the off?

  • Emmerdale spoilers reveal what happens next as Moira uncovers evidence against Tom King

Emmerdale spoilers reveal what happens next as Moira uncovers evidence against Tom King

Emmerdale fans saw Moira Dingle come very close to exposing Tom King on Thursday night, and now spoilers have confirmed what happens next.

As Belle Dingle urged the police to find Tom’s missing iPad, claiming it would contain evidence of him stalking her, one resident found the device in question. Tom has been abusing his wife for months and after she ended their marriage, he began targeting her.

After Belle found the courage to expose Tom’s abuse and even reported him to the police, she’s faced accusations she’s lying from some villagers. Things worsened when he attacked her and tried to kill her last week, resulting in her attacking him with an axe in self-defence.

Tom has since been questioned over the abuse with Belle finding evidence cameras had been set up in her home. With Tom suggesting it was for her safety, Belle needs to get her hands on the tablet to find any footage he has recorded of her.

That very iPad found its way into the hands of Belle’s sister-in-law Moira on Thursday, with her finding the footage of Belle needed to expose Tom. But just as Moira went to reveal all she became unwell and suffered a seizure, amid her brain tumour diagnosis.

When Belle eventually found Moira, Moira had forgotten she’d needed to see Belle. She’d forgotten about the iPad and what she’d seen, not even aware of the iPad or its importance.

With Belle’s hopes dashed that Moira had evidence she needed to catch out Tom, viewers were left frustrated. Now, new spoilers have revealed what happens next as the iPad remains at the farm.

Next week Tom realises Moira’s son Isaac has the device, and asks for it back. Isaac tells him where it is and tells him where the spare key is, leading to Tom heading there.

It seems he gets his hands on it after nearly being caught out, as soon he’s trying to destroy it. Belle is startled to see Tom who brags about his assured victory in court, leaving Belle full of dread.

When Tom thinks he is home alone later on, he begins to smash his tablet to get rid of his evidence. But what he is completely unaware of though is that his young cousin Carl is watching on unseen, and he sees him trying to destroy the iPad – so will he grass him up?

  • Dad horrifically burned when vape explodes in his pocket while shopping with daughter at B&M

Dad horrifically burned when vape explodes in his pocket while shopping with daughter at B&M

A dad has recounted the “horrific” moment his e-cigarette burst and left him screaming and feeling like he’d “been in a fireball” after his e-cigarette burst into flames in his pocket.

Robert Kane, 37, likened the agony to “having his leg placed in an oven” and described how the caustic battery acid gnawed through his thigh and lower leg. He’s now sounding the alarm for those who vape, warning that they are ‘potentially carrying a ticking time bomb in their pocket’. Graphic photos reveal the severity of Mr Kane’s injuries.

He later took legal action against the vape shop where he purchased the e-cigarette, securing over £20,000 in damages. Mr Kane, who switched from cigarettes to e-cigarettes as part of a health drive, was shopping with his daughter when his jeans ‘began fizzing and sparking like a firework’ while they were standing outside a B&M store in Baguley, Wythenshawe.

He has embarked on a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers posed by the machines, telling the Manchester Evening News that people “need to be aware of the dangers” after the shock explosion. He said: “People need to know how dangerous e-cigarettes are. It all happened in a flash. The pain was incredible – like my leg had been put in an oven.

“I went to a vape shop as e-cigs were supposed to be healthier, but instead they scarred me for life and I’m back on the cigs instead.” Now I tell anyone vaping is not worth it. They are potentially walking around with a ticketing time bomb in their pocket. I got third degree burns in seconds from a battery and have the scars to prove it.”

Robert switched to vaping in April 2019, following government claims that it’s a healthier alternative to smoking. He claimed that when he purchased his e-cigarette and batteries from a store, no one provided him with safety instructions on proper storage.

Describing the harrowing incident, he said: “It was the same sound as when you first light a firework. And then I had this incredible burning pain on my leg. I saw some smoke so I pulled down my jeans and pants to my knees, but then realised I was naked. So, I pulled up my pants quickly and then there was some sparks and a second bang.”

Robert said doctors told him his wounds were some of the worst they had ever seen
    Image:

After the explosion, Robert found the scorched battery on the ground, which he later picked up. His sister hurried him to Wythenshawe hospital, where he recounted being treated with a warm water shower to cleanse the battery acid from his wound. The engineering technician reported that doctors informed him the acid had corroded three layers of skin and described it as one of the most severe cases they’d encountered.

He recounted: “It was horrific, like I had been in a fireball. The nurses were peeling off my skin. It had burnt so deep you could see my muscle. It was 11 out of 10 pain – indescribable.” He endured a 12-day stay in a burns unit, receiving morphine and antibiotics, all the while anxiously waiting to find out if surgery would be necessary.

Mr Kane explained: “I didn’t want to have two disfigured legs, so I said no to a skin graft. Every few days they removed all the dead skin and peeled it off and it looked horrible like a snake shedding its skin. I thought it would never get better.”

He endured a gruelling six-month recovery and was forced to shun all sun exposure and holidays abroad for a year and a half due to the risks from UV rays. He’s now sounding the alarm for those using external battery-powered vapes, cautioning: “Don’t do it, never keep batteries in your pocket, and if you have them in a bag keep them in a carry case as they could blow up at anytime,” he warned.

Catherine Citron, a personal injury expert from Sharston’s Express Solicitors, who secured his compensation, remarked: “Robert was trying to be healthier by not smoking tobacco and now has been left with a badly scarred leg for life. His injuries were horrific and not what you expect to happen from a shop bought e cigarette battery.”

She added that any outlet vending e-cigarettes or vapes must provide proper safety guidance: “Any premises selling e-cigarettes or vapes need to give appropriate safety advice.”

  • Girl, 13, ‘dismissed as diva teen’ as she writhed in pain and begged to be knocked out

Girl, 13, ‘dismissed as diva teen’ as she writhed in pain and begged to be knocked out

A 13-year-old girl died in “unbearable pain” following delays in her care for sepsis after being dismissed by hospital staff as a “dramatic teenager”, an inquest heard.

Chloe Longster had been a healthy, fun-loving teen until she was admitted to Kettering General Hospital with pneumonia in November 2022. She died just 18 hours later after developing sepsis. Her devastated mum Louise said her family believe her death was “completely preventable”.

Ms Longster told how she repeatedly asked medics for help but was treated as a “mum who had been on Google” while her daughter was dismissed as a “diva teen”. She said her daughter had been in so much pain she asked her whether she was going to die, adding: “It’s haunting that the 13-year-old was the one who was right.”

At the first day of a week-long inquest, Mrs Longster said pain relief for her daughter was “delayed” and in her final hours she had been treated with “contempt”. On the weekend before she died, Chloe, from Market Harborough, Leicestershire, had been sniffly and had a cough but had been well enough to attend a sleepover.

Assistant coroner Sophie Lomas heard Chloe had mild asthma and used inhalers but had never had an asthma attack. Giving evidence, Mrs Longster said: “She was incredibly healthy. She only used the inhaler very rarely.”

    Chloe and her mum Louise

On the Monday, Chloe did not feel well enough for school so her mum left her brother, 17, at home with her and went to work with instructions to call her if anything changed. But at 11.15am Chloe phoned her mum to say her ribs hurt and she’d been sick.

Mrs Longster said: “I phoned my husband and asked him to go back to her. He went back and said he could see she was uncomfortable but it didn’t seem like it was horrendous.” Mrs Longster then also decided to go home and see her daughter.

She added: “I could see she was becoming more and more uncomfortable and panicked about the pain.” Mrs Longster was asked by the coroner if this was unusual for Chloe. “Yes,” she said. “She liked to go out to dancing, she liked to live and being ill was massively inconvenient for her. It was very out of character.”

She couldn’t get through to the GP and phoned 999 to be told an ambulance would take two hours. So Mrs Longster, her son and Chloe went to Kettering General Hospital by car. She added: “She was frightened. She was holding my hand, she was squeezing it.”

Chloe was in so much pain that she couldn’t walk to the door and had to be taken inside in a wheelchair by her brother while Mrs Longster found a parking space. In the paediatric A&E department Mrs Longster said she noticed how pale and clammy her daughter looked.

She was triaged and placed in a side room before being given oral Oramorph for her pain. Mrs Longster added: “She asked if she could be put to sleep because she was in so much pain. She said to me ‘stop saying it’s going to be OK mum. It hurts.”

A cannula was inserted but it fell out while Chloe was still in A&E. Mrs Longster and her son then had to take Chloe down to x-ray themselves. Mrs Longster saw the x-ray and noticed what she thought was a mass at the bottom of Chloe’s lung. When she returned to the A&E department she was told Chloe had a chest infection.

A doctor prescribed antibiotics and she was given one dose before being admitted to the Skylark Ward. Mrs Longster said had to repeatedly ask doctors for more pain relief for her daughter once they were on the ward. She added: “I remember making a comment that it feels like we are chasing her pain, not getting on top of it.”

An on-call doctor then saw Chloe and told her mum she had pneumonia and would need to be admitted for intravenous antibiotics and fluids. When they arrived on the Skylark Ward Mrs Longster went to the nurses’ station. She said: “I remember in A&E having to convince them she really wasn’t well.. I was not a mum who’d been on Google and she wasn’t a dramatic teenager.

“Somebody (on Skylark) asked ‘what’s your name’? I said I was Chloe Longster’s mum and they said ‘we know about her and we’ll be round’. I remember that sinking feeling because their interpretation of me had obviously transferred upstairs. I went back and messaged my husband and said I didn’t think they were taking it seriously.

“I was told by another mum that there was a poorly baby on the ward and, I get that, but my baby was poorly too.”

She said: “A nurse kept coming in to do observations but nothing was happening. I asked what was going on and she said ‘she’s on red’. I thought to myself ‘don’t Google it because I’ll panic’. But I shouldn’t have to Google it.”

The nurse later did observations on Chloe and realised her oxygen had dropped. Mrs Longster added: “They initially thought the machine had broken.” Chloe was moved to a side room and Mrs Longster was told this was because she had tested positive for Influenza A.

A consultant was called and more people began coming into Chloe’s room. Mrs Longster said: “I asked a nurse if she was going to be OK and the nurse said she didn’t know. How I got out of the room I don’t know, but I just remember hitting the floor and being slumped there. It felt like Chloe hadn’t been taken seriously about how unwell she was until that point.

“She had asked me if she was going to die. I took that as her trying to articulate how poorly she felt. It’s haunting that the 13-year-old was the one who was right. During Chloe’s last 18 hours on this Earth she was in pain and treated with contempt.”

Mrs Longster said that she got the impression nurses believed Chloe was being ‘dramatic’.

During her time on A&E, Chloe was seen by Dr Marwan Gamaleldin who was, at that time, a registrar. He said a nurse had come to find him at about 2.20pm to ask him to see Chloe because she had started the sepsis screening tool but Chloe’s score had not been high enough to trigger further examination.

He told the inquest: “She didn’t come across as struggling to breathe. Breathing with pain is different to struggling to breathe.” He said he began thinking about a ‘differential’ diagnosis than a bacterial infection because of her pain level and high heart rate.

He said: “I saw a shadow on the left side of her lung in the x-ray. In that context, infection was likely. I remember saying that the pain wasn’t proportional to what we’d normally see in an infection. The absence of fever is a red flag. If there’s no fever and a high heart rate you start to think about something else.”

The inquest, at The Guildhall in Northampton, continues until Friday.

  • KSI granted unexpected power on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent while a guest judge

KSI granted unexpected power on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent while a guest judge

    KSI in 2023

Boxer and musician KSI is being handed a golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent – even through he is only set to appear in one episode as a guest judge.

The 30-year-old social media star – whose new single, Thick of It ft Trippie Low, is out now – is set to fill in for Bruno Tonioli in the forthcoming 18th season of ITV’s long-running talent show. The upcoming season is filming at a different time to usual as ITV is expected to fill the gaping Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway shaped hole in their February-April schedule with the variety show instead.

As a result, audition rounds for the series are filming at an earlier time – and will clash with dates that Bruno, 68, is in the USA filming on Dancing With The Stars. Despite only filling in for a couple of days, KSI will be granted the right to bash the golden buzzer – which sends audition hopefuls straight through to the live finals.

It is suggested KSI may then return for the live episodes to check in on his contestants – and that ITV are desperate to tap into his huge social media following which includes more than 80 million fans. Bruno will get to bash the golden buzzer himself when he is present for auditions – while regular judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and hosts Ant and Dec will be able to press it once each too.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses were keen for KSI to appear much like a full-time judge would, given he’s due to stand in for a number of days. It means there will be one more Golden Buzzer act this year, with the remaining judges and hosts Ant and Dec also given an opportunity to press it. It will no doubt make the finals more exciting, to see which judge is best at picking a winner.”

The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment. Meanwhile, applications for Britain’s Got Talent 2025 have been open since May this year. Fans have been encouraged to submit applications in person, by video, by WhatsApp, or by nominating someone you know via the official application website.

Earlier this year, Simon shared his joy over the fact the show continues to be renewed by ITV. He told the Daily Mail: “I always thought, if we could get three or four years out of this it would be amazing and then you reach 10 years and go that’s a milestone…

“People come from all over the world to compete and it’s not just winning the show it’s having that viral moment that can literally change your life overnight… that’s why people are going to come back year after year after year and hopefully keep competing and get better… I think it’s going to be here for a long, long time.”

  • Emmerdale fans puzzled over startling Tom King detail as he tells incriminating lie

Emmerdale fans puzzled over startling Tom King detail as he tells incriminating lie

Viewers tuning into Emmerdale this week were left a little baffled over Tom King, after noticing something in recent episodes.

Emmerdale's Tom King was released from hospital after an axe attack this week

Days on from him being attacked in the back with an axe, which left him with life-threatening injuries, Tom was back to trying to cover up his abuse towards Belle Dingle. On Thursday he was released from the police station after being questioned, hours after being released from the hospital.

He was fitted with a chest drain after sustaining injuries to his back and his lung, with him suffering from internal bleeding. The police revisited him later in the episode to grill him on his missing iPad, which Belle claimed would confirm he was recording her without her knowledge, amid her abuse accusations.

But amid Tom trying to conceal his actions from his family and the detectives, the villain left fans a bit confused. There were two scenes where his injuries were addressed, including one where he struggled to climb into the car.

It was clear he was feigning the pain in front of Belle to make her look worse, and earlier on Tom detailed he was having his chest drain removed that day. He’d also screamed out in pain as his uncle Jimmy King hugged him, touching his back.

Jimmy apologised, referencing “his wound”. Tom reminded him of his injury and said he was in pain, before he was shown struggling into his seat. But some fans were a bit puzzled over how, asides these scenes, he seemed fine.

Given just a day or so ago he had an axe wedged into his back with him apparently suffering lacerations, huge blood loss and serious injuries, fans were unsure how he was up and about. Tom was seen sitting down easily most of the time, including Wednesday’s episode, and on Thursday he was walking around and not resting.

Viewers watching the scenes admitted they didn’t understand how he was able to do this given the weapon used and the injuries sustained. Taking to social media, fans pointed out this bizarre detail – just as Tom told an incriminating like to the police about the iPad that was missing.

One fan posted: “He’s sitting in the police station like nothings happened!” as another said: “It was only yesterday the docs were saying they’d just got on top of his pain. Now Tom’s walking, sitting upright, & leaning forward?!”

A third fan posted: “Last week Tom was axed in the back now the b*****d is sitting in a chair not even wincing in pain,” as a fourth said: “How is Tom up & about, after having an AXE in his back a few days ago??” Tom had just lied to the police about not recording Belle – so might this finally be caught out if the iPad is located?

Unfortunately for the pair, Damon (portrayed by Ciaran Griffiths) struggled to get away from his life of crime and he eventually wound up in prison, leaving Sarah alone. In more recent scenes of the ITV soap, however, after Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) contracted sepsis from a dodgy liposuction in Turkey, Adam (Sam Robertson) has agreed to help Sarah, while bills pile up.

In doing so, Adam found out that Damon heard about Bethany’s ordeal from behind bars and arranged for Sarah to receive some of his dodgy money through a voice message and the solicitor has kept the secret. But he finally speaks out next week, as confirmed by spoilers.

Coming up next week, the Platts are first baffled by Jesse Chadwick’s return to the cobbles with Gail, as Helen Worth’s exit storyline looms on the horizon. And when Adam discusses Damon’s hidden money with his uncle Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Jesse makes a huge faux pas by stating he recognises him from Sarah’s wedding pictures.

Later on in the week, Adam opts to do the right thing by confessing to Sarah that Damon offered to pay Bethany’s staggering medical bills, as viewers recently discovered that the Turkish hospital Bethany was staying at during her recovery was charging them £2k a day.

After lifting the lid on Damon’s plans, Adam confesses that he deleted the message from her phone, leaving her with a decision to make. In other scenes, Sarah calls Damon in prison – but will she really accept his help after insisting she wanted no involvement with his life of crime, particularly for the safety of her family?

Regular viewers of the Manchester-based programme will remember that Damon was last seen been thrown behind bars after being blackmailed into taking part in a botched robbery by his villainous brother Harvey (Will Mellor). But will he return to Weatherfield?

While this remains to be seen, Daniel Osbourne recently launched a crowdfunding appeal to help pay off Bethany’s whopping fees but on Monday, September 30, news that she’d been hospitalised after a dodgy liposuction filtered through the cobbles, leaving some residents angry, particularly after Paul Foreman’s death from motor neurone disease. Could Damon be the answer to Sarah’s problems?
