  • Joey Essex to ‘join’ Big Brother after he’s seen on set months after Love Island stint

Joey Essex to ‘join’ Big Brother after he’s seen on set months after Love Island stint

Joey Essex will star on Big Brother – just a few months after he joined the cast of Love Island.

Joey Essex is set for the Big Brother house

The reality TV personality, 34, first found fame on The Only Way is Essex, before joining multiple reality shows including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Dancing on Ice and Celebs Go Dating.

But now bosses have secured him for the upcoming series of Big Brother. Joey is not earmarked to be a contestant but will feature in the upcoming civilian series, which starts on Sunday on ITV2 and ITVX.

Celebrities including Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Kate Middleton ’s uncle Gary Goldsmith have appeared on a separate Celebrity spinoff of Big Brother, but the upcoming series will feature members of the public.

Joey split from his Love Island girlfriend Jessy Potts just seven weeks after they left the villa, where Joey was the only celebrity present. He paid a secret visit to the Big Brother studios in London’s Harlesden on Friday afternoon, where he recorded footage for the new series, which is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.

A source said: “Joey will absolutely appear in the new series, though he won’t be a contestant. As a reality TV veteran he is the perfect person to present to the housemates – he knows exactly what they will be feeling so he will be a real asset to the series.

“His full involvement is shrouded in secrecy but he made such brilliant telly on Love Island, ITV bosses are thrilled he is taking part.”

Joey also recently appeared on Selling Sunset where he viewed a £5million property in the Hollywood Hills. The new house features brightly coloured paint drips all over the house, as well as the usual hot tub in the garden.

Contestants will walk through an illuminated neon corridor to reach the Diary room. Last series’ winner Jordan Sangha joked he was “triggered” when he returned to view the freshly refurbished property.

The freshly-renovated house in London’s Harlesden carries a running theme throughout, with dramatic paint blobs adorning all the walls. The giant drops spill down the stairway and splatter over a rabbit’s head in the garden, making it look like a bunch of cowboy builders did a botched job of the plastering.

But the brightly-coloured, ornamental drips are just part of the lurid aesthetics, with intense neon lights also illuminating the walkway to the iconic Diary room. There is also a marble-effect dining table for the new guests to sit around as they chomp down on their potentially limited rations.

Big Brother starts on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

  • Strictly Come Dancing’s Toyah Willcox dealt massive blow in run-up to Movie Week

Strictly Come Dancing’s Toyah Willcox dealt massive blow in run-up to Movie Week

While she secured a place in this week’s show, Toyah Willcox is now the most likely to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones will be back in the ballroom this Saturday

The singer, 66, narrowly escaped elimination last week on the BBC One show, when she and her dancing partner Neil Jones faced Olympic swimmer Tom Dean and Nadiya Bychkova – and many fans of the competition were outraged to see make it to the next round as she was the favourite to leave the show.

This Saturday, October 5, Toyah Willcox is due back in the Strictly ballroom but odds have underlined the possibility she may not be saved again. Online bookmaker Betway has placed Toyah as favourite to leave the show this week.

Speaking to The Express this Friday, Betway spokesperson Chad Yeomans said: “Even after channelling her inner Tina Turner to avoid elimination last week, the spotlight remains firmly on Toyah Willcox as she’s still the 1/1 favourite to depart this weekend.” According to Chad, Neil’s choice of dance will likely be her downfall: “Toyah and Neil will be dancing the difficult Samba to ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ from The Little Mermaid, and many punters feel it may be a step too far for her to pull off convincingly!”

Toyah is closely followed by Paul Merson, who left many viewers scratching their heads when he also managed to earn a spot on this week’s show. “Next in the elimination betting is former footballer Paul Merson who finished last with just 15 points in week two, and now finds himself as the 3/1 second favourite to be shown the door on Sunday night.”

Betway has also placed Chris McCausland among the favourites to dazzle judges and viewers at home: “As we head into Movie Week, he’s set to jive to the Wayne’s World theme and remains the runaway favourite to win the show at 11/8.”

While fans vented on social media that Tom Dean’s elimination was a ‘fix’ and stars said the decision was ‘beyond comprehension’, Neil shared his support for his dance partner Toyah as the critics circled – but she also spoke out on the situation.

Taking to Instagram, Toyah appeared upbeat but admitted she was “overwhelmed” and insisted that it was up to her to “get it right”. Appearing in a bright red wrap top and black leggings, she said with much enthusiasm: “It’s Wednesday and I love Wednesdays because this is when Neil and I start to dance the complete dance over and over and over again. But this week, because we’re doing characterisations because we are characters from the movie The Little Mermaid, it’s another layer.

So I need to know certain lines and I need to know how to respond to them and act it while doing the Samba – one of the hardest dances I’m going to learn! So I’m really excited, I’m slightly overwhelmed but I see absolutely everything about Strictly is that I am being offered opportunity after opportunity and now it’s up to me to make the most of this and get it right!” Will she be back on the dancefloor next week?

  • Son of nanny murdered by Lord Lucan has ‘unshakeable’ belief he can find him

Son of nanny murdered by Lord Lucan has ‘unshakeable’ belief he can find him

The son of the nanny murdered by Lord Lucan has embarked on a quest to find the fugitive aristocrat.

    Sandra Rivett

Hampshire builder Neil Berriman has previously said he believed the missing aristocrat, chief suspect in the murder of his mother Sandra Rivett, to be dead. But after conducting new research he is left not only convinced that Lucan got away, but also that he will be the man who finally finds Richard John Bingham, the seventh earl of Lucan.

Lucan, then 39, killed 29-year-old Sandra on November 7, 1974, bludgeoning her with a lead pipe after mistaking her for his estranged wife Veronica. Neil, who was just seven when his mother’s body was found in a sack in the basement of Lucan’s Belgravia home, has turned his quest into a three-part series for BBC2.

Fifty years after her murder, Neil has travelled across the globe to try and discover the truth and get justice for Sandra – despite the fact that Lucan would now be 89 years old. Neil’s conviction in his ability to solve the mystery of where the Eton-educated gambler ended up is described as “unshakeable”.

While most of the aristocrat’s friends and family insisted at the time that he had taken his own life, no body has ever been found and many believed he had managed to escape abroad. On the night when Sandra died, he is known to have driven to a friend’s house in East Sussex in a borrowed car later found abandoned in Newhaven and containing bloodstains. Since Lucan’s disappearance there have been multiple “sightings” all over the world and the manhunt has lasted decades. He was officially declared dead by the British authorities in 2016.

BBC documentaries boss Clare Sillery said: “The disappearance of Lord Lucan, following the murder of Sandra Rivett, is a mystery that has baffled the police and fascinated the press for half a century. Whilst there have been many programmes following Lord Lucan and his possible fate, Sandra’s story has rarely been told. By following Neil’s deeply personal quest to seek justice for his mother we gain a unique perspective, one which sees an ordinary man take on the British establishment in his search for the fugitive Lord.”

In his mission to get to the truth, Neil watches every film and reads every report and book on the subject of Lord Lucan. He also meets police officers who take him through pictures of the scene of the crime, and liaises with Veronica, Lucan’s wife, to scrutinise every detail of the missing man’s life. .

Neil is aided in his mission by former BBC investigative journalist Glen Campbell, who helps him to map out Lucan’s likely escape to a life of exile in Africa. The two men unearth persuasive evidence that one of Lucan’s powerful friends helped him to start a new life in Mozambique under the alias ‘John Crawford’.

On a research trip to South Africa Lucan’s ex-patriate brother Hugh points the pair on a path that ultimately leads to Australia. Two years ago it was claimed that an 87-year-old man living in a Buddhist community in Australia was, in fact, Lord Lucan. The series, called Lucan, will air later this autumn.

Lady Louise Windsor has been spotted performing her new role as she greeted Princess Anne.

A royal fan took to social media after noticing King Charles’s 20-year-old niece attending the same event as her aunt, the Princess Royal.

The royal fan posted the images of Louise alongside the caption: “Is it just me or is that the lovely Lady Louise in uniform at the back at the Edinburgh Tattoo?!!! Greeting her aunt Anne and uncle Tim.”

The pictures indeed show Louise at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, which Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence also attended.

The event, which takes place in August, is attended by Princess Anne every year to fulfil the prestigious role of Salute Taker for the Show at Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade.

Louise, who has “fallen in love” with the idea of pursuing a career in the army, was likely there due to being a member of the St Andrews University Officers’ Training Corps.

This organisation provides military training for students.

The young royal is currently studying at St Andrews University, the same institution Prince William and Princess Kate attended as students.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh is keen to serve her country and King Charles, according to an insider.

The source told The Sun: “She talks about being very keen on a career in the military, serving the King and country.

“She is all about the Army Cadets and has fallen in love with it.”

Prince Edward’s daughter is also set to make history as the first female royal to serve in the military since the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Louise’s LinkedIn page, which has since been taken down, the 20-year-old is interested in pursuing a career in “the military, diplomacy or law”.

Louise has likely already been inspired by her late grandmother, with whom she is said to have shared a close relationship.

As part of her training, Louise will be undertaking Reserve Officer modules designed to fit around her degree, which will instruct her in everything from how to wear a uniform correctly, to leading others in stressful situations.

MEGHAN MARKLE IN PANIC! Puppet Harry Accidentally Spills Truth About Their Fake Kids!
There are some crazy breaking news about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry! It seems like Harry accidentally let slip a bombshell admission during an interview with Puppet Harry! Before we get into the details, let’s hit 1k likes on this video, and don’t forget to subscribe and click that bell icon so you don’t miss any future videos.

Okay, so here’s what happened. Last week, Puppet Harry was doing a live streaming interview to promote his new children’s book. During the interview, Puppet Harry started getting a bit carried away with his puppetry skills and started answering questions without prompting. When asked about his friend Prince Harry, Puppet Harry apparently started dropping some inside details that were not supposed to come out!

According to eyewitnesses, Puppet Harry calmly stated that Meghan and Harry’s kids Archie and Lilibet were just a PR stunt. He said that Harry had confided in him that Meghan was desperate to cement her place as a royal and to secure lucrative brand deals. So they concocted the plan to pretend they had kids to gain public sympathy. But it backfired as people saw through their schemes. Puppet Harry went on to say that in reality, Meghan couldn’t actually get pregnant and they don’t have any children at all!

  • SIGNAL LIGHT from Netflix – tensions reach boiling point as Harry’s rage explodes

SIGNAL LIGHT from Netflix – tensions reach boiling point as Harry’s rage explodes

After their parents’ painful split and the heartbreak of their mother’s tragic untimely death, Princes William and Harry appeared to be the closest of brothers.

But fast forward to today, and the warring siblings are embroiled in a bitter feud as they carve out separate lives on opposite sides of the Atlantic. The breaking point in their bond came after Harry married wife Meghan Markle – and their pair struggled to adapt to royal life.

And in the Sussexes’ controversial Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, the couple take aim at William and recall a flashpoint that Harry claims left him furious and his wife in floods of tears. It came when Harry says he did not give his permission for a joint palace statement to be put out dismissing bullying claims – and says a wedge was driven between the pair.

Speaking over clips of the brothers playing in an old fire truck and newspaper headlines about the acrimony in their relationship in episode five, Harry said: “I mean, the saddest part of it was this wedge created between me and my brother so that he’s now on the institution’s side.

“And I get, part of that I get. I understand right? That’s his inheritance, so to some extent it’s already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and the continuation of this institution. That day, a story came out that part of the reason why Meghan and I were leaving was because William had bullied us out. And once I got in the car after the meeting, I was told about a joint statement that had been put out in my name and my brother’s name squashing the story about him bullying us out of the family.

“I couldn’t believe it. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. And I rang M and I told her and she burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

Last week, Harry marked his 40th birthday and nobody could have quite predicted how his estranged royal relatives would publicly mark the day. But what played out was both King Charles and William taking to their official social media accounts to send on their regards. For the first time in three years, the Royal Family account shared a post on X that said simply: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!” The message was also accompanied by a picture of a smiling Harry and an emoji of a birthday cake.

Around an hour later, the same post was shared by the Prince and Princess of Waleses’ X account along with the message: “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!” Some will see the post as a surprise move given the unresolved tensions between the brothers, which has shown no sign of abating.

But according to royal biographer and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward, there was a big reason for the message. She told the Mirror : “King Charles would have celebrated his son’s 40th from a distance. Milestone birthdays are important to the royals. Whatever upsets Harry has caused would have been forgotten for the day.

“Even Prince William wished his brother Happy Birthday – even if it was through clenched teeth. He doesn’t trust him, but together with his family, he wished him the best on his milestone birthday.”

Multiple parts of Prince Harry’s most recent New York City visit pay tribute to his mother, Princess Diana — perhaps none more obvious than his engagement with recipients of The Diana Award, the only award named in his late mother’s honor.

On Sept. 23, Prince Harry spoke on a panel with Dr. Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, and two award recipients, Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, 18, of Indonesia, and Christina Williams, 27, of Jamaica. The Duke of Sussex, 40, posed questions to the two on stage alongside Ojo on Monday, at one point telling them, “I applaud you for certainly, [at] your age, to be on this stage, to have the confidence that you do, and to be able to speak as clearly and as passionately as you do. And I know that my mum would be incredibly proud of you guys — not just you, but all of the award winners.”

Diana died at just 36 years old following an Aug. 31, 1997 car accident. Harry, for his part, was just 12 years old when he lost his mother. The Diana Award was established in 1999, two years after the late Princess of Wales’ death, and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Harry made sure the young people took center stage at the Concordia Annual Summit in New York City, part of The Diana Award’s “Decade of Youth Wellbeing.” According to a release from The Diana Award, the initiative is a “bold, ambitious and collaborative plan to harness the power [of] young people, like Christina and Chiara, to lead positive change.”

“There is reason to have hope,” Ojo said in the statement. “When empowered and given the tools to unlock their potential, we know young people can lead the positive change the world needs. On our 25th anniversary, this event gives us the platform to share our insights and launch our ambitious plan for the next decade.”

The Diana Award was founded on Princess Diana’s belief that young people have the power to change the world, and the charity exists to empower young people to make positive change by unlocking potential, creating opportunities and inspiring action. Its work centers around four key programs — a mentoring program for young people at risk; a youth-led anti-bullying ambassadors campaign; a collaborative Changemakers program that aims to reimagine mental health support for young people from racialized communities; and a prestigious award that publicly recognizes young changemakers — The Diana Award.

Two award recipients were spotlighted on Sept. 23, including Zhang, who, at just 11 years old, founded Cases 4 Care Indonesia after learning about the human rights violations at Southeast Asia’s biggest landfill site. According to The Diana Award, Cases 4 Care Indonesia has provided 1,000 children with an informal education by furnishing five libraries with 1,500 books and expanded its reach last year to refugee communities. She currently lives in New York City.

Williams’ work was also illuminated. Like Zhang, she began her advocacy work at age 11, and her achievements include having successfully lobbied for student access to health insurance island-wide in her home country of Jamaica, reducing student deregistration by 99% and starting an emergency fund to support disadvantaged students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams fundraised millions of Jamaican dollars in supplies to support homeless students and those unable to leave their campuses due to closed borders, according to The Diana Award.

Williams is a winner of The Diana Legacy Award, which celebrates the achievements of the 20 most outstanding Diana Award recipients from the previous two years who have changed the world.

After Zhang and Williams answered a number of questions, Harry spoke about how the younger generation inspired him: “The reason why I wanted to go last is because these guys are the ones that give me hope,” he said. “I’ve said it years ago and I’ll say it again — the younger generation are, not putting too much pressure on you guys, you are what give me hope. The courage that you have gives me hope, because every single one of us need courage in order to really move the dial and create positive change in today’s world, probably more so now than ever.”

He continued, “So thank you to you guys for giving me and probably a whole lot of people in this room hope, and now we need to listen — constantly listen — and then act on the advice and the vision that you have, because otherwise it’s your future that’s being stolen from you, and that is unacceptable.”

The Diana Award has the support of both of her sons — both Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William. “It’s a privilege to have the support of both the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, particularly as we mark our 25th anniversary year,” Ojo previously told PEOPLE.

The Diana Award engagement is one of the first of many stops for Harry as he spends time in New York City. He will take part in work surrounding African Parks, Travalyst and the Clinton Global Initiative, and will continue to honor his mother Princess Diana later on Sept. 23 as he undertakes an engagement with The HALO Trust, a humanitarian group at work in over 30 countries and territories around the world to clear landmines and debris of war. The organization gained international attention when the late Princess of Wales walked through an active landmine in Huambo, Angola, in 1997 to call for an international ban. (Prince Harry recreated the same walk years later.)

The HALO Trust noted that “countless thousands of lives have been saved by the 1997 global landmine ban” that followed Diana’s visit, and Harry continues to stay active in the organization to the present day.

The discussion focused on mental health issues facing young people today and highlighted what can be done to improve outcomes for their generation. The conversation emphasized the resilience and agency of young people.

“The Diana Award is delighted to be leading this conversation with young people and Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex as we mark our 25th anniversary year,” Ojo said in a statement. “We know young people face many challenges today, but their compassion, determination and agency to make positive change now and in the future is immense. We are very grateful and privileged that we continue to have both their support in supporting young people on a personal level. They understand how these young people are passionate about social change.”

Harry’s visit to N.Y.C. was announced via a spokesperson on Aug. 27, when it was made public that the Duke of Sussex would visit N.Y.C. during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week. Climate Week kicked off on Sept. 22 and runs until Sept. 29, and High-level Week runs from Sept. 23 to Sept. 27.

Prince Harry’s Upcoming N.Y.C. Visit Will Include a Stop Honoring Mother Princess Diana’s Legacy

Prince Harry is visiting New York City to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic activities,” the spokesperson said, adding he would also “be furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit organization he co-founded with his wife Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.”

Meghan Markle, 43, did not join her husband for this trip to New York City.

The timing of Harry’s visit coincides with another event happening in N.Y.C. around Prince William’s Earthshot Prize. On Sept. 24, the Prince of Wales’ global environmental contest and Bloomberg Philanthropies will co-host the third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit at the Plaza Hotel, though Prince William will not be in attendance.

Prince Harry was last in New York City in October 2023 for the Archewell Foundation’s first in-person event. The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age brought together parents who experienced tragic loss connected to their child’s social media use, and the Duke and Duchess spoke on stage alongside Surgeon General Vivek Murthy in a conversation moderated by Carson Daly.

During an interview that aired on CBS Sunday Morning on Aug. 4 (which was Meghans’ 43rd birthday), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the launch of The Parents Network through the Archewell Foundation to support parents whose children have been impacted by traumas relating to social media use.

Harry and Meghan made two international trips this year to help create change through the Archewell Foundation, visiting Nigeria in May and touring Colombia from Aug. 15 to Aug. 18.

“It is hugely important for us to meet directly with people, supporting our causes and listening, in order to bring about solutions, support and positive change,” Prince Harry told PEOPLE in May while in Nigeria.

Looking to the future, the Duke of Sussex added that he and his wife are anticipating more travel opportunities to further their initiatives.

“There’s only so much one can do from home and over Zoom, so we look forward to traveling more because the work matters. Whether it’s the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to meet the people at the heart of our work,” Prince Harry said.

The Duke of Sussex traveled to London for the WellChild Awards on Sept. 30

Prince Harry’s latest trip to the U.K. to support a close cause won’t include a visit with his father King Charles or brother Prince William.

On Sept. 30, the Duke of Sussex, 40, will step out to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards ceremony in London, bringing him back to England from his California home for the second time in recent weeks. WellChild works to support seriously ill children and their families, and the awards celebrate the inspirational qualities of the young people and their carers. Prince Harry has been patron of the national charity for 16 years, and the awards are a staple on his annual calendar.

PEOPLE understands that the Duke of Sussex has no plans to see the King, 75, or the Prince of Wales, 42, while in London for WellChild. They also didn’t see one another during Prince Harry’s visit to the U.K. in May for an anniversary service commemorating 10 years of his Invictus Games. However, Harry extended invitations to his father and brother ahead of the May event.

Harry’s relationship with his father, who is likely still in Scotland alongside Queen Camilla, remains strained amid the Duke of Sussex’s ongoing battle for security. Sources previously told PEOPLE that calls and letters to his father go unanswered. Harry’s attempts to connect with his brother, William — through texts, calls, and messages — are also similarly ignored.

The family rift, which first became public in 2020 when Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal roles has been marked by blistering attacks and unresolved tensions. For Harry, no single issue is a greater sticking point than that of security, multiple well-placed insiders in his circle told PEOPLE in August.

The Real Reason Prince Harry and King Charles Are No Longer Speaking: ‘Harry’s Calls Go Unanswered’ (Exclusive)

The Duke of Sussex’s spokesperson attributed the lack of interaction between Harry and his father in May to the monarch’s “full schedule,”  though sources close to the duke hinted at a deeper issue. Prince Harry wanted to discuss his ongoing battle for security, which he has been fighting for in court for over four years and believes his father the King has the power to reinstate. (Buckingham Palace will not comment on security provisions, but a palace source told PEOPLE the notion that Harry’s security is in Charles’ hands is “wholly incorrect.”)

Despite a positive meeting in person between the father and son in February following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, their communication has since deteriorated. Those close to Harry say that his father no longer takes his son’s calls or responds to his letters. The rift with Prince William is “very bad,” a royal insider said, but it’s not “irreparable.”

Prince Harry and Prince William were at the same place at the same time in late August, when both brothers attended the memorial service for their late maternal uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Norfolk, England. Fellowes was married to Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Spencer, and died in July at age 82, and Prince Harry traveled across the Atlantic to pay his respects at the service on Aug. 29.

During the memorial at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, the estranged brothers reportedly avoided each other during the service, each sitting with different groups of their maternal cousins.

“Most people were astounded that Harry came,” one of the reported 300 attendees told PEOPLE. “He was on remarkably good form — and you could tell he was very pleased to see everybody. And he was very pleased that he had come over.”

PEOPLE further learned that the Duke of Sussex stayed with his uncle, Charles Spencer, at Althorp House following his appearance at the memorial service. Althorp is the Spencer family’s ancestral home, where Princess Diana grew up and where the late Princess of Wales is buried. The service for the late Lord Fellowes was held two days before the 27th anniversary of Diana’s death on Aug. 31.

Looking ahead to Prince Harry’s latest U.K. stay (which follows his busy trip to New York City last week to support several of his patronages and philanthropies), he likely won’t be in the U.K. for long after the WellChild ceremony. On. Sept. 27, his charity Sentebale announced that the Duke of Sussex would be in Lesotho in early October, re-convening with his Sentebale co-founder, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and local Sentebale leaders to highlight programming for the organization dedicated to helping young people in southern Africa.

The Crown portrays Princess Diana having a final phone call with her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry — something that happened in real life.

Prince William, now 41, and Prince Harry, now 39, opened up about speaking to their mother for the last time before her death in the 1997 documentary ITV documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. As portrayed in the Netflix drama, William and Harry — just 15 and 12 at the time — were at Balmoral Castle in Scotland when their mother died in a Paris car crash in August 1997.

In the documentary, Prince William said he recalled his last conversation with Princess Diana but did not reveal details. He shared that he and his brother were having a good time with their cousins at Balmoral when the call occurred.

“Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say goodbye, you know, ‘See you later’… if I’d known now obviously what was going to happen, I wouldn’t have been so blasé about it and everything else,” the Prince of Wales said.

Prince Harry confirmed that Princess Diana was in Paris when the phone call took place.

“I can’t really necessarily remember what I said but all I do remember is probably regretting for the rest of my life how short the phone call was,” the Duke of Sussex said.

He added, “If I’d known that that was the last time I was going to speak to my mother, the things that I would – the things I would have said to her…”

Richard Kay, a longtime royal reporter and friend of Princess Diana, looked back on the telephone conversation that would turn out to be the Princess of Wales’ last for a 2021 documentary.

“I spoke to her that night,” he recalled. “[The] police said that the last call she made was to me.”

She was “in quite a good place,” shared Kay. But above all, “she wanted to come back and see her boys.”

In a scene from their 2017 documentary for ITV and HBO, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Prince Harry revealed that they hadn’t seen their mother for several weeks while speaking with two landmine victims, Zarko Peric and Malic Bradaric, who Diana met when she went on her last mission to Bosnia to raise awareness about the brutality of landmines.

“You guys were the, almost the last people to see my mother,” Harry told them in the documentary. “Well, you saw my mother more recently than I did, I guess.”

As children of divorced parents, William and Harry also spent time traveling between the two homes in the years before Diana’s death.

“There was the point where our parents split and . . . we never saw our mother enough or we never saw our father enough,” Prince Harry said in the documentary. “There was a lot of traveling and lot of fights on the back seat with my brother — which I would win.”

“There was all that to contend with,” he added. “And — I don’t pretend we’re the only people to have to deal with that, but it was an interesting way of growing up.”
