Diana’s cry for help: How the distraught Princess threw herself down the stairs at Sandringham while pregnant with Prince William… and the horrified Queen Elizabeth was the first on the scene

Their 1981 wedding captivated the world, with millions delighting in what appeared to be a royal fairy tale.

From the outside, Princess Diana‘s relationship with Prince Charles was a match made in heaven.

But, by early 1982, now-pregnant Diana was so unhappy that she resorted to throwing herself down the stairs to get her husband’s attention during a visit to Sandringham, the late Queen Elizabeth’s estate in Norfolk.

The Queen witnessed the aftermath and was left ‘shaking’ and ‘absolutely horrified’, Diana later told royal biographer Andrew Morton.

In audio tapes sent to Morton for his biography, Diana, Her True Story, she claimed she was dismissed by her husband when she initially threatened to throw herself down the stairs.

Accusing her of crying wolf, Charles allegedly told her: ‘I’m not going to listen. You’re always doing this to me. I’m going riding now.’

In response to Charles’s disregard and in a bid to get his attention, Diana revealed to Mr Morton: ‘I threw myself down the stairs.’

She said she was trying to get Charles’s attention and wanted him to listen to her.

The couple were staying at Queen Elizabeth’s Norfolk residence at the same time as the monarch and she happened to witness the incident as it played out.

Diana said: ‘The Queen comes out, absolutely horrified, shaking – she was so frightened.’

The Princess was four months pregnant with Prince William at the time but explained: ‘I knew I wasn’t going to lose the baby, [though I was] quite bruised around the stomach.’

However, the incident didn’t spark the reaction from Charles that Diana desperately desired and she told Mr Morton how ‘it was just dismissal’.

When he came back from riding, the Princess claimed he ‘just carried on out of the door’.

His response was influenced by advice from his friends who felt Diana needed to ‘pull herself together’, Robert Lacey wrote in his book, Battle of Brothers.

However, as Prince William’s due date approached, Charles did spend more time with Diana and stayed by her side when their first son was born.

In doing so, he became the first male royal to be present at a birth.

In a letter to his godmother, Patricia Knatchbull, Charles said how he was ‘so thankful I was beside Diana’s bedside the whole time’.

However, Princess Diana’s struggles with her mental health continued later on. When William was four years old, the princess fainted during a trip to Canada.

She was battling bulimia at the time and told Charles she thought she was ‘about to disappear’ before passing out during an exhibition at Expo’86.

The Princess received some help from doctors but continued to struggle and her marriage to Charles continued a downward spiral.

They eventually separated in 1992 before divorcing in 1996.

She said to Mr Morton how Charles ‘told a lot of people the reason why the marriage was so wobbly was because I was being sick the whole time.

‘They never questioned what it was doing to me.’

When Diana turned thousands of Americans into ‘avid royalists’: Princess’s 1989 solo trip to New York was a huge success – so will Prince Harry’s visit without Meghan be a triumph too?

It was a trip that captured the hearts of sceptical Americans, and made Princess Diana more popular than ever across the pond.

The late Princess of Wales‘s three-day visit to New York City in 1989 – her first overseas engagement without her husband Prince Charles – was a huge success.

The Daily Mail reported at the time that the tour ‘enchanted hardened New Yorkers and turned thousands of ordinary Americans into avid royalists.’

Diana embraced a dying young AIDS patient, visited a housing project for homeless people and wowed at a glamorous gala dinner.

At the weekend Prince Harry followed in his mother’s footsteps by arriving in the city without his wife Meghan Markle for a series of engagements.

He will be attending events with African Parks, The HALO Trust and The Diana Award, among others.

1989: Princess Diana travels solo to New York in very successful trip

Diana used her trip to build her own independence and work on humanitarian causes she was passionate about, while also having fun.

After arriving on Concorde, she had to be escorted into Manhattan by an armed SWAT squad in a convoy made up of ten cars due to threats of an IRA protest.

Thousands of people lined up to welcome the Princess, with her arrival receiving ‘more media attention than a meeting of world leaders’.

She kicked off her visit with a glamorous appearance at a party for Dawson International, a Scottish clothing company.

The Princess wore a classy blue and black dress, paired with a patent clutch bag and a single string of pearls.

The following day, another crowd of people waited to greet Diana when she arrived to the Henry Street Settlement – a housing project for homeless people – on the Lower East Side.

While she was there, Diana visited a day care centre with the First Lady of New York, Matilda Cuomo.

In the evening, Diana wore a glamorous gown by Victor Edelstein to a gala dinner for the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

However, the Mail reported how actor Michael Douglas failed to show up, mirroring another royal snub twelve months earlier when he didn’t accompany Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, to a theatrical workshop.

Aside from glittering parties, Diana’s most notable part of her visit was in Harlem, when she hugged a seven-year-old boy who was dying of AIDS.

Dr Margaret Heagarty, the head of the paediatric unit at Harlem Hospital, said at the time: ‘She is a wonderful person – kind, compassionate and very sensitive.’

She shook hands with the princess and told her: ‘By coming here today, you have given this hospital and our poor community an enormous uplift.’

Diana’s impact on the AIDS ward was profound, a man in the hospital even held a cardboard placard with the words, ‘Bless you Princess Di in Jesus name’.

Everywhere Diana went she was greeted by hoards of people wanting to catch a glimpse of royalty.

She produced a reaction so noticeable that she was even dubbed ‘Queen of New York,’ by the Mail.

Diana would go on to visit the city several times afterwards.

A favourite place to stay was The Carlyle Hotel. She was there in December 1995, when she visited New York for a charity dinner.

She returned to the hotel in June 1997, when she met Mother Teresa in the city.

In December 2014, Prince William stopped at The Carlyle Hotel during a visit to New York with his wife Kate.

During Harry’s own trip to the Big Apple, he will be paying tribute to his mother at the 25th anniversary of The Diana Award.

The organisation posted a statement from the CEO Dr Tessy Ojo: ‘In our 25th year, The Diana Award is delighted to be leading an event with Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in New York this September.

‘The event will be driven by young people and their insights on the biggest issues facing their generation today.’

It was initially speculated that Harry’s brother, Prince William, could also be in the city at the same time for the third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.

However, it has been confirmed that the heir to the throne won’t be making the journey overseas.

The contract between Audi and Inter Miami CF officially ended after David Beckham was found to have a collection of cars from Audi’s competitor (video)

This announcement comes amid Inter Miami’s growing prominence since its debut in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020.

In its fifth season, the Club has fulfilled its ‘Freedom to Dream’ ethos by signing world-class players and coaches who represent the essence of South Florida,

winning its first-ever trophy — the 2023 Leagues Cup — igniting a commercial surge, gaining millions of fans worldwide, and becoming a reference point for soccer globally.

Audi and Inter Miami CF come together during a period of momentum for soccer in North America.

This partnership allows Audi of America and its South Florida dealers to reach an important

and growing customer segment as the brand looks to deliver its largest new product launch in Audi history. Inter Miami CF fans can experience Audi on

and off the field through fan activations—including Audi Test Drive experiences and the Club’s digital and social platforms— and stadium LED and in-game content.

Additionally, owners of select MY 23/24 Audi vehicles can show their fan spirit by purchasing specially designed Inter Miami CF Audi Themes for the Audi MMI system, transforming their vehicle’s interior with display wallpapers honoring the Club. This curated collection is available for purchase in the myAudi Marketplace on the myAudi smartphone app.

“As leaders in our respective categories, both Audi and Inter Miami share a commitment to delivering exceptional performance,” said Emilie Cotter, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Audi of America. “The increased excitement and recognition surrounding the Club has been remarkable to witness. We’re committed to shaping the future of this sport together through a growing and energized fanbase in South Florida and beyond.”

“We are thrilled to ride alongside a forward-thinking and innovative brand like Audi during this momentous point in our Club’s history,” said Inter Miami CF President of Business Operations, Xavier Asensi. “Our mutual commitment to excellence will drive unique initiatives, catering to our passionate and diverse fanbase.”

As the official automotive partner of MLS since 2015, Audi of America’s commitment has expanded educational resources for more than 3,800 youth players, increased housing options for more than 350 youth players and has provided $5 million in support to MLS academies.

Since the Club’s inception, the Academy has been a pillar integral to Inter Miami’s mission. To this point, the Club has signed 10 players from its Academy to professional First Team contracts, several of whom have become regular contributors in MLS.

Audi and its nationwide dealer network further support MLS on a local level including six club partnerships (D.C. United, Orlando City SC, San Jose Earthquakes, Sporting Kansas City, Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls) and as official Naming Rights sponsor of Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

In addition to supporting key clubs, matches and championships, Audi has impacted the lives and playing careers of young soccer players as the force behind the “Audi Goals Drive Progress” program. Launched in 2019, this initiative funds enhancements for young players on and off the field at MLS academies, which play an essential role in developing talent across the league. The program now extends beyond player development to financially support and highlight community initiatives led by MLS players.

David Beckham always wanted children when he was young.

The 49-year-old retired soccer ace was thrilled to meet his 50-year-old fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham when he was in his twenties.

The couple had their eldest son Brooklyn, 25, in 1999, and married a few months later, before welcoming Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and 12-year-old daughter Harper.

And having his kids grow up during his career has been “really important” to David.

He told the ‘SmartLess’ podcast; “I am very happy because you know I feel very blessed to have had the career that I’ve had and played for the teams

that I have and and experienced that and the one thing that I always wanted for me, you know,

I was lucky I met Victoria when I met her because I always wanted to have kids young I always wanted to have kids that lived through my career with me and I was lucky the three boys all lived through most of the teams that I played no that’s great that’s really cool and and and that for me was a really important part of my life.”

Last month, David told Victoria their children are her “biggest success”, in a tribute to mark her 50th birthday.

In the post on Instagram, he wrote: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife … As you head into this birthday you should look back and be proud of what you have accomplished, achieved and what you have built, Posh Spice, business woman and of course marrying an England captain.

“But your biggest success are your children, you guide them, love them and teach them … They love you beyond words , we all love you so much. Have a special day you deserve it all. (sic)”

David then went on to joke: “50 and fit. I AM BEING HONEST” (sic)”

Victoria Beckham sparked backlash after she penned two tributes for her and David Beckham’s son Brooklyn Beckham on his 25th birthday.

The singer-turned-fashion-designer praised herself and her husband for being proud of “the parents we are,” prompting Instagram users to remind her that it was her son’s big day.

Fans perceived a portion of her message as “exhibiting a sense of entitlement,” reported OK Magazine, referring to Victoria’s second post for Brooklyn.

In her first post, Victoria uploaded a heartwarming video featuring a young Brooklyn,

observing his mother’s performance with her former girl group, the Spice Girls, during one of their concerts.

“Happy birthday Brooklyn. We all love you so much. Generous, funny, talented with the kindest most giving heart.

We are so proud of the son, big brother and husband you are,” she penned.

“You always put everyone before yourself. Your love and energy is so special and touches everyone you meet. We love you!!!!!”

In her second tribute, she wrote, “Today we celebrate Brooklyn turning 25!!! David I love you so much and I’m so proud of the parents we are. We are a good team!!!! Happy birthday.”

Social media users were rushed to ripped the fashion designer as one wrote, “Odd post to celebrate her sons birthday ? Seems more a adoration to David.”

“She said I am going to pat us on the back for bringing this kid and raising such a good kid into the world,” another said.

“Weird choice of words on your son’s birthday!” one penned while another commented, “It’s about Brooklyn today not you vic… “

“A tad conceited,” another chimed in.

  • Victoria Beckham revealed the truth about her diet regime: “I can only eat like this if I want to live a few more years” (video)

Victoria Beckham revealed the truth about her diet regime: “I can only eat like this if I want to live a few more years” (video)

Victoria Beckham has revealed why she follows a “very disciplined” diet.

The 50-year-old fashion designer spoke candidly about her wellness routine during an interview with Grazia, published on May 28.

She acknowledged that as she’s “become more accepting” of her appearance,

she’s also put work into her everyday routine, which includes maintaining a certain diet and exercise regime.

“This is how I look. I’m going to make the best of it, work hard at it,” she said.

“I’m very disciplined with the way that I eat, the way that I work out and the way I work. That’s just who I am.”

However, the former Spice Girls member acknowledged that she doesn’t necessarily limit herself from things, noting that she drinks alcohol when she wants to.

“But I do like to have a drink and I’m not going to be one of these: ‘Ah, there are too many calories in a glass of wine,’ types. Whatever,” she added. “Life’s too short. Let’s have a nice time.”

Beckham’s strict diet doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, as her husband David Beckham previously revealed that she has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years. “Since I met her she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables, she will very rarely deviate from that,” the former football star said during an appearance on Ruthies’ Table 4 podcast in February 2022.

He also recalled the one evening that his partner strayed away from her usual diet and how memorable it was for him.

“The only time she’s probably ever shared something that’s been on my plate was actually when she was pregnant with Harper and it was the most amazing thing,” David, who shares four children with his wife, explained. “It was one of my favorite evenings. I can’t remember what it was but I know she’s not eaten it since.”

When making her TikTok debut months later, Beckham jokingly acknowledged her infamous eating habits with a video of her sitting at her dining room table.

“Tell me you’re Posh without telling me you’re Posh. I’ll go first,” she said as a waiter removed a cloche to reveal her plate of grilled fish and steamed vegetables. “I love it.”

Elsewhere in her interview with Grazia, Beckham acknowledged she’s sometimes felt insecure about her appearance, due to the scrutiny she faced from the media. “I’ve had so much said about me and I’m sure that has robbed me of some experiences,” she said. “I never want to look like I’m complaining, but there were times in the past that I haven’t felt confident enough to sit on a beach and watch my children play.”

She then recalled how a newspaper outlet ran a story about her postpartum body after the birth of her oldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, 25 years ago.

“I remember after I had Brooklyn, my first outing was on the front page of the newspaper, with arrows pointing to where I needed to lose weight,” the fashion designer said. “Those things can affect how you feel and conduct yourself in public. Now, if paparazzi want to take a picture and say something – too bad, it doesn’t bother me in the same way.

However, the fashion designer expressed that these days she’s learned how to brush off public criticism. “You just become more accepting, don’t you? This is how I look. I’m going to make the best of it, work hard at it,” Beckham said.

Cruz Beckham became a laughingstock after declaring he would help the England team win Euro 2024 thanks to his new tattoo (video)

Cruz Beckham unveiled a new Three Lions-themed tattoo ahead of the 2024 European Championship final between England and Spain.

The son of former England international David Beckham was not the only one to get some new ink shortly before the final, as his brother Romeo did as well.

During a visit to Certified Letter Boy at The London Social last week, the brothers each had some new artwork.

Cruz is the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham, as he is now 19 years old.

He shared the new tattoo with his Instagram followers, showing off the England crest on his upper arm.

The tattooist in question uploaded a photo of the 21-year-old Romeo who had the word ‘Romance’ in cursive font down his index finger.

    England’s heartbreak

If the plan was for the tattoos to bring England some extra luck on their hunt for a first men’s trophy since 1966, then it did not work.

Gareth Southgate’s side fell behind in the early stages of the second half thanks to Nico Williams’ goal, but Cole Palmer was able to hit back and give the English a moment of celebration at the Olympiastadion.

It was Spain who would prevail, though, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the winning goal with just minutes to go.

After the final whistle, Williams put his hands to his face before he was embraced by his teammates. Dani Carvajal slumped to the field and was piled on by jubilant teammates.

Lamine Yamal, Marc Cucurella and Dani Olmo were among the first to jump over the advertising hoardings to reach the Spanish fans in the stadium’s east end.

David Beckham’s overly intim@te actions with his daughter were criticized as recent images show their increasingly affectionate father-daughter relationship (video)

David Beckham, the internationally renowned football icon and celebrity, has often been a subject of public discourse,

not only for his athletic prowess and entrepreneurial ventures but also for his personal life, particularly his relationship with his children.

One area of his personal life that has sparked significant controversy involves his interactions with his daughter, Harper.

Various instances of Beckham’s affectionate gestures towards Harper have been met with criticism,

with detractors accusing him of crossing the boundaries of appropriate behavior for a parent.

One of the most frequently discussed aspects of this controversy is Beckham’s habit of kissing Harper on the lips.

This particular form of affection has ignited a firestorm of debate, with some people arguing that it is inappropriate and should not be shared publicly. Critics claim that such displays of affection can be misconstrued and are not suitable, especially for a father-daughter relationship. However, Beckham has steadfastly defended this practice, insisting that in his family, such gestures are a normal part of expressing love and maintaining a close bond. He has emphasized that the criticism is unwarranted and that he will not change the way he shows affection to his children.

Another action that has drawn public ire is Beckham hugging Harper from behind. This form of physical closeness has been interpreted by some as excessive and inappropriate, particularly when photographs of such moments are shared on social media or captured by paparazzi. Critics argue that these images can be easily misinterpreted and suggest behavior that is not fitting for a parent. In response, Beckham and his supporters argue that such hugs are simply expressions of a loving and caring relationship between a father and his daughter. They highlight that these moments are being unfairly scrutinized and taken out of context, painting an innocent display of affection in a negative light.

Moreover, certain photographs have shown Beckham’s hands in positions that some have described as sensitive or inappropriate. These images have added fuel to the fire, leading to further criticism and questioning of Beckham’s behavior. Detractors argue that as a public figure, Beckham should be more mindful of how his actions are perceived. However, Beckham has consistently dismissed these claims, maintaining that there is nothing inappropriate about his interactions with Harper. He has argued that such criticisms are a result of over-sensationalizing innocent and loving moments between a parent and child.

Despite the backlash, Beckham’s actions have also received a great deal of support. Many fans and parenting advocates have rallied behind him, praising his open and affectionate relationship with his children. They argue that in a world where many fathers are often criticized for being emotionally distant or uninvolved, Beckham’s behavior should be seen as a positive example. Supporters believe that his actions demonstrate a healthy and loving father-daughter relationship and that society should celebrate, rather than condemn, such displays of parental affection.

The controversy surrounding Beckham’s interactions with his daughter also touches on broader societal issues regarding expressions of affection within families. It raises important questions about cultural norms and the boundaries of what is considered appropriate behavior. Some argue that the criticism Beckham faces is rooted in outdated stereotypes about masculinity and parenting, suggesting that there is a need for a more nuanced understanding of familial love and affection.

In conclusion, David Beckham’s affectionate behavior towards his daughter Harper has been a lightning rod for public debate. While some critics perceive his actions as crossing the line of appropriateness, many others view them as normal and loving expressions of a strong father-daughter bond. Beckham remains resolute in his stance, defending his actions as natural and heartfelt. This controversy highlights the diverse perspectives on parental affection and the evolving nature of societal norms. As Beckham continues to navigate his role as a public figure and a father, his relationship with Harper stands as a testament to his dedication to being a present and loving parent, irrespective of public opinion.

Victoria Beckham may not be willing to commit to a Spice Girls revival tour, but she still loves to belt out the pop group’s ’90s hits.

On Sunday, the fashion designer, 49, shared a TikTok video of herself doing a lively karaoke performance of “Say You’ll Be There.” As she sung the familiar tune into the microphone, she danced with her husband, David Beckham, and playfully got him to sing along with her while some friends looked on and cheered.

“Warming up the vocals in Miami! More to come 🤫!! 🎶🎤” Victoria wrote in the post’s caption.

She also shared a short clip of the impromptu performance on Instagram, jokingly writing, “Just a casual night out in Miami!🤭 check out my tik tok to see the full performance 😂🥴 no really I did not drink that much 🍸🥃🍷🥂🍹🍾💃🕺”

In a separate Instagram post just hours before, Victoria gave another glimpse of the fun she and her former professional soccer player husband, 48, had on Saturday night. The couple posed in what appeared to be a bar with a group of friends, who included celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves.

“Work hard play hard! 🤩 wow!! What a night celebrating with friends in Miami!!!! I love you @davidbeckham x” she wrote.

The pair certainly had much to celebrate over the weekend. Inter Miami, the team that David co-owns, won its match against Cruz Azul on Friday night. The game also marked the much-anticipated debut of Argentine soccer sensation Lionel Messi, who signed with Inter Miami on July 15. A number of celebrities came out for the big night, including Kim Kardashian, LeBron James, Marc Anthony and Serena Williams.

While die-hard Spice Girls fans were likely thrilled to see Victoria singing an old throwback on TikTok, the mom of four won’t be heading out on the road with her former bandmates anytime soon. During an October appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Victoria was hesitant to make any kind of commitment to a potential Spice Girls reunion tour.

“I had so much fun being in the Spice Girls,” she told host Andy Cohen at the time. “But I think now with everything else I’ve got going on — with my fashion, and my beauty line, four children — I couldn’t commit to that.”

Cohen, 54, asked Victoria if the ABBA hologram concert in London — orchestrated by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller — presented an opportunity the band would be open to.

Anne Hathaway, who also appeared on the WWHL episode, agreed with Cohen. “Hologram Spice,” they both suggested.

“That’s a great idea,” Victoria replied enthusiastically. “That is a good idea.”

While Cohen took the “Wannabe” singer’s response as an indication that the group was already in talks to organize such a performance, Hathaway, 40, was quick to disagree, saying that Victoria was merely acknowledging that it was a reasonable suggestion.

“Okay, well, let’s parse this out,” Cohen joked. “I took it as that she’s saying, ‘We’re talking about it.’ “

Victoria confirmed she had not been talking to Fuller, 62, about the possibility of a hologram Spice Girls concert, but Cohen urged her to: “I think you should.”

Despite her reluctance to commit to any kind of revival, Victoria maintained her love for her former bandmates — and their music.

“I had so much fun in the Spice Girls. I love the girls,” she said. “I really, really enjoy singing Spice Girls when I’m doing karaoke.”
