Exclusive: Chris McCausland’s likely Strictly win leaves BBC bosses with a big headache

The comedian’s on course to become the first winner in the show’s history not to take part in the live UK tour in 2025

Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland has cemented his position as the favourite to lift the glitterball trophy – but his soaraway success is causing BBC bosses a headache, because he can’t do the live UK tour.

A clash with his own stand-up dates means that if Chris does triumph in the 2024 series – and the bookies currently have him as the 9/4 favourite – he would be the first winner in the show’s history not to take his dancing shoes on the road afterwards. The problem lies with the comedian’s show, Yonks, which has dates throughout January and February that clash directly with Strictly’s live theatre show.

But his absence would prove a blow for fans because dad-of-one Chris, who has been blind since his 20s, has proven to be the stand-out star of the series. It also calls into question Craig Revel Horwood’s assurance that the BBC Studios-backed tour, which charges between £35 and £100 per ticket, will allow fans to see “their favourite celebrities and dancers up close and personal.”

One source said: “Craig has suggested that all this year’s favourites will be there but that’s not true. How can Chris be in two places at once? As things stand, Chris can’t do it because every show on his comedy tour from January 17 clashes.”

This morning Ladbrokes said that the title was the Scouse comedian’s to lose. Chris, 47, is currently positioned as the firm 4/9 favourite with Tasha Ghouri next in line with odds of 4/1, followed by Sarah Hadland at 10/1 and Jamie Borthwick at 16/1. A spokeswoman said: “Chris McCausland seems to be running away with the competition this year after he extended his lead at the head of the Strictly betting. Tasha is his main rival as things stand, but punters only see one winner.”

On Saturday Chris, partnered with Aussie pro Dianne Buswell, wowed viewers and judges with his emotional waltz to Liverpool FC’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, clinching 35 points, his best score yet. The dad-of-one, 47, finished third on the leaderboard and left many viewers in tears as he performed a solo walk through the ballroom before being dramatically scooped up by Dianne for the song’s climax.

Afterwards the judges lavished praise on his “flow” around the floor with tearful Shirley Ballas telling him: “Your footwork was spectacular.” Anton du Beke agreed, declaring: “I had a moment where I welled up’. And Motsi Mabuse gushed: “It transcended technique, I felt every emotion.”

In a statement last month confirming the return of the Strictly live event for 2025, hosted once again by It Takes Two’s Janette Manrara, Craig declared: “Strictly fans are in for a huge treat on the live tour – it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before. Audiences will be able to enjoy all of the glitz and glamour of the TV show and see their favourite celebrities and dancers up-close and personal. And with Motsi joining us for the first time, it’s going to be even more FAB-U-LOUS!”

The Strictly Live Tour claims to capture “all the joy” of the TV series while also promising to give audiences “the chance to experience everything they love about the TV show live on stage.” It first launched in January 2009 with 2008 winner Tom Chambers among the line-up, and every winner since has taken part.

The only one to miss out was Bill Bailey because the 2021 tour was cancelled due to the pandemic. Those to have participated in recent years include Ellie Leach, Hamza Yassin, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Kelvin Fletcher, Stacey Dooley and Joe McFadden. Prior to them came Ore Oduba, Jay McGuinness, Caroline Flack, Abbey Clancy, Louis Smith, Harry Judd, Kara Tointon and Chris Hollins.

Last night a spokesman for the tour said: “Casting for the Strictly Live Tour 2025 is still being decided.” He added that an official announcement about the celebs and pro dancers taking part next year will be made before Christmas.

Christine Lampard was also among the Loose Women co-stars to pay tribute to Jamal, and did so on Monday morning by posting a photo of her husband Frank with the late entrepreneur.

She wrote alongside the snap: ” Utterly devastated. The most remarkable young man. @brendaedwardsglobal we are here for you and your family at this terrible time.”

Star of Loose Women and This Morning Ruth Langsford also paid tribute to her friend Brenda’s son.

Ruth took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of Jamal and Brenda on the Loose Women panel and wrote: “My heart is breaking for my friend @brendaedwardsglobal after the loss of her amazing son Jamal yesterday.

“I can only imagine her unbearable pain. Grief is the price we pay for love.”

She then added: “The @loosewomen will wrap our arms around her and try to fill her with all the strength we have. My condolences and love to you my darling friend, Tanisha and all your family. RIP Jamal. X.”

The latest star of the popular ITV panel show to send support to Brenda is Judi Love, who shared two photographs of Jamal and wrote a caption to accompany them.

Judi penned: “@jamaledwards If only words could express how you have changed peoples life, making real waves for artist and young people to achieve their dreams.”

She continued: “As busy as you were you still had time for anyone that needed it, for any young person that needed guidance and a role model.

“As much as everyone proud of you and the legacy you’ve left behind, the pain is unreal. Rest Well King. @brendaedwardsglobal my friend I just can’t. I love you so much I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.”

Brenda’s co-stars’ messages of support come as Brenda herself has released a statement, which reads: “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.

“Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.

“As we come to terms with his passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.”

She concluded: “Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives On Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”

Brenda’s statement, which was posted onto the Loose Women Twitter account, confirmed her son’s death was as a result of a “short illness”.

Jamal’s sudden death completely shocked the nation, especially because just three days ago he had posted a throwback snap of himself and pop sensation Ed Sheeran to his Instagram account.

He wrote a special birthday message to the Shivers hitmaker, saying: “Happy Birthday to the OG, Ed. Blessed to have you in my life brother.

Liam Payne’s ex, Danielle Peazer, reveals the singer’s shocking final text message to her just weeks before his tragic death

Liam Payne‘s girlfriend Danielle Peazer has shares a heartfelt tribute to the star and revealed he contacted her just weeks before his tragic death aged 31.

The One Direction singer plunged 45ft from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, prompting a wave of tributes from across the showbiz world.

After saying earlier this week she was ‘not mentally string enough’ to deal with the loss, the model, who dated Liam and off from 2010 until 2012, returned to social media with a lengthy tribute alongside a slew of snaps of them together.

Danielle explained how the singer had contacted her to express his happiness for her after she went on to find love with partner Sonny and welcome daughter Mia, saying she would ‘always cherish’ his kindness.

She penned: ‘Whilst we all take the time to navigate in a world without Liam, it’s important to remember that while he was adored by millions as a world famous musician for the last decade, he was also someone’s son and brother for more than 30 years, a friend to so many and more recently an uncle’.

‘His most important role and something he was the most proud of out of all of his monumental successes was that he was a father.

She continued: ‘The thought that there is a now a child growing up without one of their parents is heartbreaking and unfair.

‘To Liam’s son Bear, as well as his parents and sisters, my love, thoughts and strength goes to you. The magnitude of this loss is incomprehensible and I will continue to support you in any way I am able to.’

Before adding: ‘Thank you for teaching me about the importance of setting boundaries, and that I should always protect my heart.

‘Receiving a message from you a couple of weeks ago expressing your happiness for the love I found with Sonny and Mia is something I’ll cherish forever’.

On Saturday Danielle explained she had been taking the last few days to process the news of the star’s death as she penned: ‘In time I will share more, but right now I don’t feel mentally strong enough to face the reality of what’s happened’.

Describing it as a ‘heartbreaking time’, Danielle explained the last few days had been made even more difficult due to negative comments from vicious trolls.

She wrote: ‘Like all of us, I too am grieving, and need to take some time to do that privately.

‘It’s a heartbreaking time, which has already been made so much more challenging due to receiving negative and misinformed comments as well pre conceived judgement from those who don’t personally know me, Liam or anything about out relationship over the last 14 years.’

She concluded: ‘I will be back soon when I’m ready but until then please take care of each other.’

While Danielle referenced the negative abuse she had received, she also thanked people for their supportive messages.

She said: ‘Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to call, text, or DM sending condolences and offering support.

‘I’m so grateful and it’s helped more than you know.’

Danielle, who is now in a relationship and shares daughter Mia with Sonny Jay, dated Liam on and off from 2010 when they both met on the X Factor.

They split in 2012 but were thought to have enjoyed a very brief reconciliation back in 2022.

During an interview in October 2012, Liam admitted he was ‘devastated’ after separating from Danielle.

Her tribute comes after Cheryl also broke her silence on Liam’s death.

The Girls Aloud singer was previously in a relationship with Liam for two years, with the pair welcoming their child, Bear Grey, into the world on March 22, 2017.

Her statement read: ‘As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time.

‘I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

‘Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a  dear friend and a father to our seven year old son.

‘A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.’

The pair initially crossed path on the hit talent show in 2008, however it wasn’t until 2016 that their relationship began.

They made their official red carpet debut at Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Gala in Paris in that year, with  Payne paying tribute to Cheryle with a tattoo of her eye on his arm.

  • Meghan Markle and Harry’s £6.5million Portugal move was explained by the Prince himself in ‘Spare’

Meghan Markle and Harry’s £6.5million Portugal move was explained by the Prince himself in ‘Spare’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have caused a stir with their alleged swanky new home which they have purchased in Portugal. Some royal watchers speculate it’s a move to “pretend they’re still royals,” but the truth is far more personal for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Harry and Merghan have apparently snapped up a swanky pad on the sunny Iberian coast, which could bag them a “Golden Visa” for easy-peasy travel through the EU’s Schengen zone – and with a £6.5 million price tag, it really will be a golden ticket to the EU.Reports of the eye-watering house purchase come just after the Duke and Duchess, after stepping back from their royal duties, had to hand back the keys to Frogmore Cottage to King Charles. Despite claims about keeping up appearances, royal commentator Angela Levin has explained the “real reason” for purchasing a home in Portugal, pointing out that Harry spills the beans in his tell-all memoir ‘Spare’

Despite claims about keeping up appearances, the couple might be looking to get closer to the Royal who Meghan treats as her “sister,” according to ‘Spare’. Angela told GB News: “Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank [are] there and in Harry’s book, Spare, he said Meghan and Eugenie are like sisters.”

She added a pinch of scepticism, saying: “I’m not quite sure of that because in August [Princess Eugenie] said she wants to come back to the UK because she wants to give the children an English education and she wants to be with the family.

“Is that a way they (the Sussexes) can go around various countries in Europe and pretend that they’re still royals again? I don’t think there’s anything positive about that.”

Ms Levin commented that while Portugal might offer “sea and sand”, Meghan already has that “on her doorstep” in California, where she resides with Harry and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, are known to have a close bond with Eugenie and Jack, who dwell an hour south of Lisbon at the swanky Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club, according to The Express. Last year, it was reported that following the Invictus Games, Harry and Meghan enjoyed a romantic getaway to Portugal, allegedly jetting off from Dusseldorf to Lisbon and then on to Melides. At that time, rumours circulated that the Sussexes were guests of Princess Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank. The Daily Mail cited Jose Santos, head of the Alentejo Tourism Board, confirming the visit by Harry and Meghan. Harry and Meghan’s current abode is a lavish Tuscan-style villa in Montecito, boasting features such as seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, plus a cinema, gym, and library.

The source said: ‘Liam didn’t have to die. Liam didn’t want to die. He had promised us all he would never commit suicide. He was looking forward to the future.

‘If someone had called an ambulance when he collapsed in the hotel lobby instead of taking him back to his room and leaving him in there alone, in a psychotic state, he would still be with us.’

    The source also revealed:

Liam had been ‘re-working’ his favorite One Direction track ‘Fireproof’ on his computer just hours before his death.
He was in Argentina to renew his US visa and had passed medical and psychological tests days before which proved he was ‘totally clean.’
He was in ‘good spirits’ and had been planning to fly back home to girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Miami on Friday.

The 31-year-old singer died instantly after plunging 45ft from his third-floor hotel room balcony onto the patio below at 5.04pm on Wednesday.

Police found drugs in his room including ‘cristal’, a potent hallucinogenic that causes blackouts and psychotic episodes.

The source said: ‘Where did Liam get the drugs when he had no money?’

Multiple police sources have said investigators believe someone in the hotel supplied him with drugs. There have been unconfirmed reports that the hotel conducted an internal probe and fired at least one employee.

Last night investigators told the MoS the probe into the star’s death ‘is ongoing’ but said charges against those who supplied the drugs ‘were imminent.’

Liam arrived in Argentina on September 30 with his girlfriend Kate and close friend Roger Nores. The source said: ‘Liam’s US visa was expiring and he had to leave America to renew it so he decided to go to Buenos Aires to see Niall Horan perform and get his new visa.’

But when Liam went to the US embassy in Buenos Aires the week before last he found officials had Googled him and discovered he had spent multiple stints in rehab for drugs and alcohol.

‘They ordered him to do medical tests, see a doctor, do bloodwork and x-rays and see a psychiatrist and that was all done the first week. Liam thought the trip would only last a few days but because of all the tests he ended up getting stuck there.’

After spending last weekend at a polo farm outside Buenos Aires, girlfriend Kate flew back to Miami on Monday to care for the couple’s dog while Liam checked into the CasaSur hotel.

‘He had no money and his credit cards weren’t working, so he was spending all his time in the room.

‘On Tuesday he asked for a McDonald’s. He was happy and in good spirits.

‘The test results all came back totally clean on Tuesday and he had an appointment at the embassy to get his passport stamped with the visa on Thursday and then he was going to leave Argentina immediately.’

The source said a family friend visited him around 10am that morning to deliver his favourite ‘American style’ chocolate-chip cookies from a bakery three blocks from the hotel.

‘He seemed a bit tipsy, like he had been drinking, but wasn’t in a bad state. He was happy.

‘He was replicating Fireproof on his computer. He loved recreating instrumentals and that was his favourite One Direction song. He was redoing the beat. He was in a good place, planning for the future, looking forward to going home to Miami to his girlfriend and his dog.’

Liam and his friend had coffee before the friend left.

The singer ordered whisky and champagne from the hotel bar before returning to his room.

Around 11am police say two prostitutes visited his room but left at 3pm after a row because he could not pay them cash.

Witnesses saw Liam arguing in the lobby with the women.

Around 3pm the hotel called Roger Nores, a friend of Liam’s, to report the singer was causing a disturbance in the lobby.

Mr Nores came and apologised to onlookers, telling them ‘he’s a really nice guy’ and took him to his room before leaving to run errands.

Hotel guest Brett Watson from Chicago told ITV that Liam came back down to the lobby several times. At one point he lay on a sofa in the lobby playing on his computer. Mr Watson said: ‘There was an incident where he was very frustrated and was smashing his laptop in the lobby.’

There have been reports that was in reaction to receiving a mystery email, but sources say they have ‘no idea’ what message may have caused Liam to explode. Mr Watson said: ‘The final time he came back down he actually passed out in the lobby of the hotel, looked like he was convulsing a little bit and had to be physically taken back to his room.’

The source said: ‘If Liam was convulsing. why didn’t the hotel call an ambulance immediately?

‘That is what no one can understand. He never convulsed before.

‘If he was that sick why did someone take him back to his room and leave him there alone, with an open door to the balcony?’

A hotel employee later called 911 to report Liam was smashing up his hotel room and to say they were worried he might jump.

The source said: ‘If they were worried he might jump, why didn’t someone go and sit with him? Why was he left alone?

‘Did they treat him differently because he was a celebrity? If he had been a regular person would they have called an ambulance? Maybe they were worried about a scandal.

‘If Liam was in a psychotic state he didn’t know what he was a doing. He could have been trying to leave his room and he went to the balcony thinking it was the room exit and accidentally fell.

‘We are tormented by the fact he was left alone in his room after he had convulsions and was clearly in a psychotic state.

‘There are so many questions. Who supplied the drugs to him? Why did they take him back and leave him alone in his room? That was stupid and reckless. Leaving a person having a psychotic breakdown alone in a room with an open balcony is like giving someone a loaded gun. He didn’t know what he was doing. He was out of it.

‘He may have been trying to leave the room.’

Liam’s father Geoff arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday to identify his son’s body. He was accompanied by long-time One Direction bodyguard Paul Higgins.

The source added: 'The narrative so far has been wrong. People have been saying Liam relapsed on drugs and wanted to kill himself because his life was so bad. That wasn't the case. He was in a good place

The source added: ‘The narrative so far has been wrong. People have been saying Liam relapsed on drugs and wanted to kill himself because his life was so bad.

‘That wasn’t the case. He was in a good place. He was happy and making plans for the future with Kate who he loved. Someone gave him drugs and those drugs caused a psychotic event.

‘The tragedy is if someone had called an ambulance when he collapsed in the lobby and was convulsing, he would still be alive.’

UK snow: Weather map shows when -5C blast arrives in Britain – and it’s just days away

SnowBrits have been told to brace for a -5C icy blast with weather forecasts showing swathes of the country will be blanketed in snow soon.

Maps from WX Charts suggest winter wonderland scenes are weeks away, with some areas facing up to an 80% chance of snowfall Scotland is expected to bear the brunt on Monday, November 4, with the Highlands and Scottish borders most likely to see the white stuff. The northern Pennines in England could also get a dusting.

Jim Dale, senior meteorologist and founder of British Weather Services, said: “Colder yes, within a northerly airstream. Any snow at the moment is confined to the Scottish mountains, maybe higher northern Pennines. It’s a watching brief, as ever but snow in the south so early in the season is becoming a rare event.”

King Charles confronted by furious protestor who unleashes rant accusing royals of ‘genocide’

King Charles and Queen Camilla were visiting Parliament House in Canberra as part of their Australian tour when Senator Lidia Thorpe, an indigenous campaigner, burst into the Great Hall where the monarch had just given a speech and shouted ‘You’re not my King’

An indigenous politician has launched a verbal attack on King Charles and Queen Camilla as they entered Australia’s Parliament, accusing the royals of “committing genocide”.

Lidia Thorpe, an Aboriginal Australian independent senator for Victoria, approached Charles and Camillla after they took to the stage in front of politicians and digitatories. Dressed in indigenous dress and holding a piece of paper, she approached the stage as dumbfounded MPs and guests stood by, shouting “You are not my King”. Shouting at the King and Queen as royal protection officers attempted to lead her out of the building, Ms Thorpe said: “You committed genocide against our people. Give us our land back, give us back what you stole from us. Our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people.

“You destroyed our lands, give us a treaty, we want a treaty in the country, you are a genocidalist. This is not your land, this is not your land, you are not my King, you are not our King.” She was also heard shouting “not my King” and “f**k the colony” as she was led out.

The King and Queen did not engage as the scene played out, instead turning to people next to them as music was played by an orchestra. She was ushered out of the room after around 30 seconds by security including the King’s protection officers.

In 2022, a month before the late Elizabeth II died, Ms Thorpe called her a ‘coloniser’ while being sworn in to parliament. She was forced to repeat the oath of allegiance for Australian parliamentarians as colleagues shouted: “You’re not a senator if you don’t do it properly.” Ms Thorpe, who last year split from the Green Party and became an independent MP citing the party’s lack of focus for indigenous rights, later called the ceremony “archaic and ridiculous”.

Afterwards, a planned royal walkabout outside the parliament lasted only a few minutes after the commotion inside the chamber. Dozens of people who had been waiting in the blazing Canberra sunshine since 8am to catch a glimpse of the King and Queen were left devastated after the royals spent less than 10 minutes saying hello to the crowds.

But a palace source denied it had been cut short due to the commotion inside the chamber and said the schedule had been running 15 minutes over.

They said: “Their Majesties were deeply touched by seeing and hearing the very many thousands who’d turned out to support them, and are only sorry they didn’t have a chance to stop and talk to every single one. The warmth and scale of the reception was truly awesome. While they are grateful to all the crowds, Their Majesties particularly enjoyed hearing individual stories of those who’d made such a special effort to be there.” A palace source also said about the protestor that the King was ‘unruffled’ and would “not let it overshadow what has otherwise been a wonderful day”.

Earlier in the day, Senator Thorpe was nearly arrested at an Indigenous protest outside the Australian War Memorial. A group Indigenous protesters were chanting “always was, always will be Aboriginal land” but kept well away from where the King and Queen appeared.

In a video circulating online, a police officer can be seen holding Senator Thorpe’s red shirt. Senator Thorpe then twists out of the shirt and walks away from the officer, who follows her. She left the protest and could later be seen inside Parliament, waiting for the arrival of the monarchs.

In a statement, the AFP said no arrests had been made from the incident. The Australian Federal Police said: “This morning, police spoke to a protest group near the Australian War Memorial. The group was directed to move on from the area and they complied with that direction. No arrests were made and police consider the matter finalised.”

Former prime minister Tony Abbott, who attended the event, expressed his dismay at the protest. “It’s unfortunate political exhibitionism, that’s all I’d say,” he said aftewards. Another of the guests, Victoria Cross recipient Keith Payne, was highly critical of Ms Thorpe for disrupting the reception. “I was absolutely amazed that she got through the door,” he said. “That was uncalled for and un-Australian.”

Payne, who was awarded the highest military honour for his service in Vietnam, was one of the guests who spoke with the King as the royal couple left the reception. Thorpe was a guest at the event as an elected Victorian Senator. Another guest, businessman Dick Smith, said the disruption was an aspect of Australian democracy. “I think that’s the wonderful part of our democracy — that she’s not going to be put in jail,” he said.

PA)Earlier in the day the King had been welcomed to Canberra by becoming the first British monarch to take part in an indigenous “smoking ceremony”. Charles had envisioned putting Australia’s indigenous communities at the heart of his first royal tour since his cancer diagnosis.

The ceremonies are rituals of welcome and protection, used to ward off bad spirits, cleanse people spiritually, and acknowledge ancestors and the land. The late Queen Elizabeth II witnessed the ceremonies during her own visits to Australia, but King Charles is thought to be the first monarch to actively take part. The monarch will visit National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Sydney tomorrow. The royals also honoured two First World War Australian veterans from opposite ends of society when they visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

After Charles and Camilla left floral tributes in recognition of Australian Defence Force troops who paid the ultimate sacrifice they walked the short distance to the memorial’s roll of honour. A tradition has developed among family members of leaving a poppy against the names of their fallen relatives, listed on long walls in the memorial’s cloisters.

The King stepped forward to place a poppy alongside the name of Private William Punch an Aboriginal Australian tasked with manual work at the front who died in 1917 after being shot. While the Queen left her flower next to the name of the former Mayor of Auburn, Private William James Johnson, who was aged 44 when he enlisted and was shot and killed at the battle of Pozières.

Inside the memorial’s Hall of Memory, Charles laid a wreath at the foot of the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier alongside a floral posy placed by Camilla. As a bugler played The Last Post, the royals bowed their heads to observe as a minute’s silence was broken by the sound of Reveille.

Since the memorial was built in 1941, almost every royal visit to Australia has featured a formal wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial, built to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian Defence Force Veterans. In a separate ceremony, the King and Queen for the first time also marked the sacrifices of Indigenous Veterans at the new For our Country – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Memorial.

After leaving the hall, the King and Queen moved into the Commemorative Courtyard to sign the visitors’ book. As Australia’s most visited cultural institution, the memorial attracts millions of visitors each year who come to honour the service of defence force personnel.

Outside as Charles and Camilla were greeted by crowds in the hundreds, the King was left in “disbelief” after an alpaca dressed in a crown and suit with a golden bow tie sneezed on him as he went to say hello. Nine-year-old Hephner spectacularly fluffed his lines when he was introduced to the King outside the Australian War Memorial. When the King stroked his nose the animal left off a loud sneeze – provoking laughter.

Thousands turned out to greet the King and Queen – with fans waving flags and banners. The throng included Robert Fletcher bringing the alpaca – named Hephner as his mother was called Playgirl – on its lead to meet the King dressed in a gold crown and suit complete with a gold bow tie for the event.

Robert, of Goulburn, New South Wales, uses his alpaca as a support animal for charities and nursing homes. He said while waiting for Charles: “My wife found the crown and thought it was fitting. I think he loves his crown very much. He has lots of outfits but it’s a special day so he is in a suit and bow tie as well. Hephner has met a few famous people before but this is the King. He wants to meet the King.

“He doesn’t bite and he doesn’t spit. He’s always on his best behaviour anyway. And he is a pro-monarchy alpaca.”

When Charles came close Robert shook his hand and introduced the King to the animal. But as the King gently patted him within seconds the alpaca let out a loud sneeze. Robert said afterwards: “I got to shake his hand and then Hephner sneezed. The King just looked in disbelief. But it’s just who Hephner is. He is an alpaca after all”.

The royal couple received huge cheers as they walked 200 metres from the Australian War Memorial Council Member and Australian Army Veteran, ‘Aunty’ Lorraine Hatton.

Meanwhile, in his speech at Parliament House, the King spoke of his “life shaping and life affirming” time as a teenager spent at school in Australia. For six months in 1966, Charles was shipped off to Victoria’s remote High Country and experienced the “best part” of his education.

The destination was Timbertop, Geelong Grammar’s year 9 campus where students board together in a program that puts emphasis on outdoor education. Charles told his hosts how he “deeply appreciated” the smoking ceremony at the RAAF’s Defence Establishment Fairburn on his arrival to Canberra.

Also there in the welcome party was Auntie Serena Williams, an elder from a local indigenous community, who performed a smoking ceremony – an ancient tradition which acknowledges the traditional ownership of the land – and Australia’s Federation Guard then gave a Royal Salute.

He said: “In my many visits to Australia, I have witnessed the courage and hope that have guided the nation’s long and sometimes difficult journey towards reconciliation. Throughout my life, Australia’s First Nations peoples have done me the great honour of sharing, so generously, their stories and cultures. I can only say how much my own experience has been shaped and strengthened by such traditional wisdom.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s rows behind closed doors – ‘they get into it in a big way’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry row behind closed doorsPrince Harry and Meghan Markle “really get into it in a big way” when they argue, a Kensington Palace aide has claimed.

Royal expert Tom Quinn has shared his private conversations with a Palace insider, who shared details of explosive rows between the Sussexes as well as dishing the dirt on Prince William and Princess Kate’s lives behind closed doors. The Royal author – who penned – Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family – shared what he learned in detail. He said: “Someone who worked for Kensington Palace told me they [William and Kate] do have rows. It’s not a perfect marriage. They have terrific rows.”

Speaking to the Express US Quinn then gave away the unique way in which William and Kate resolve their conflict as he explained “where some couples have a row and throw heavy vases at each other, William and Kate throw cushions at each other. It’s always kept under control. It doesn’t escalate. The fight doesn’t get bigger and bigger.”

However, according to his source when it comes to Harry and Meghan, things couldn’t be more different. They said: “When Harry and Meghan fight, they both really get into it in a big way.” Quinn believes that the quirky approach taken by William and Kate is thanks to the late Queen’s legacy. He described how Queen Elizabeth II lived by her mantra “never complain, never explain,” noting that while William and Kate have also taken on the mantra for their own lives, Harry and Meghan have distanced themselves from The Firm following their own trajectory.

  • MOST SEATS EMPTY! No One Attends Meghan’s Selfie Free $5000 Dinner In Indiana Saying She is EVIL

MOST SEATS EMPTY! No One Attends Meghan’s Selfie Free $5000 Dinner In Indiana Saying She is EVIL

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently hosted a private fundraising dinner in Indianapolis with the goal of raising money for their charity, Archewell. However, what was intended to be a high-profile event with a hefty price tag of $5,000 per ticket turned out to be a significant disappointment, as the turnout was much lower than expected. Despite planning for around 100 guests, photos from the event reveal rows of empty chairs, with only a small number of attendees present, estimated to be fewer than 30.

The high cost of attendance may have been a primary factor in the low turnout. Even for a brief interaction with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, $5,000 is a considerable amount of money. The lack of perks, such as the opportunity to take a selfie with the couple, further diminished the appeal for many potential attendees. Meghan and Harry had reportedly banned phones at the event, likely to prevent leaks of any sensitive information or images. However, this decision appears to have backfired, as many people were unwilling to pay such a high price without the chance to capture the moment.

Royal correspondent Murray Hogarth suggested that the poor turnout could be a sign that public enthusiasm for Harry and Meghan has waned. The couple, who have often voiced concerns about privacy and media intrusion, may have misjudged the extent to which people value such interactions. Without the promise of a photo or a memorable takeaway, many potential guests might have found it difficult to justify the steep ticket price.

Another factor that could have contributed to the event’s lackluster attendance is its location. While Indianapolis is a vibrant city, it is not known as a celebrity hotspot like New York or Los Angeles. Hosting such a high-ticket event in a smaller Midwestern market may have limited the pool of potential donors, especially those who might be willing to pay a premium for a charitable cause. The choice of venue likely played a role in the event’s underwhelming turnout.

In the end, the combination of a high price tag, a no-selfie policy, and the choice of location led to the event’s disappointing outcome. What was intended to be a successful fundraiser for Archewell turned into an expensive lesson for Meghan and Harry. The rows of empty seats at the dinner serve as a reminder that even high-profile figures like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex must carefully consider what they are offering in exchange for such significant financial contributions.

This event highlights the challenges the couple faces as they navigate their post-royal life, particularly in maintaining public interest and support for their initiatives. The miscalculation at this fundraiser underscores the importance of aligning the perceived value of an event with the expectations of potential attendees, especially when such high stakes are involved.
