EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: The BBC seems intent on ignoring the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s Panorama interview

As next year’s 30th anniversary of Martin Bashir‘s Panorama interview with Princess Diana looms, the BBC seems intent on ignoring it, having turned down two unsolicited drama treatments of the subject.

Does it fear it’s impossible to touch without provoking Prince William‘s ire?

After Lord Dyson’s 2021 report into the murkiness of Bashir’s methods, William said: ‘It is my firm view that this Panorama programme holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again.’

The BBC seems to be listening, William.

The wokesters have got their way with the BBC axeing of Motherland. Why has the show about harassed mothers, school runs and wine o’clocks been dropped?

A Beeb source says that in these gender-fluid times, when ‘birthing parent’ is sometimes preferred to ‘mother’, the show was ‘a bit too heteronormative’.

What does that mean when it’s at home?

Promoting her 60th anniversary ‘farewell’ tour, Lulu, 75, recalls her 1993 collaboration with Take That: ‘They were very, very respectful, because they of course were in their teens, I think, and I was 40 … and now we’re family.’

Take That’s Howard Donald claims bandmate Jason Orange, then 22, had a particularly close relationship with then 44-year-old Lulu.

  • Victoria Beckham gives subtle seal of approval to Cruz’s new girlfriend after Nicola Peltz ‘feud’

Victoria Beckham gives subtle seal of approval to Cruz’s new girlfriend after Nicola Peltz ‘feud’

It looks like Cruz Beckham’s new girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, has the stamp of approval from the person who might matter the most – and that’s Victoria Beckham herself.

Cruz, 19, who is Posh Spice’s youngest son, recently went public with songwriter and producer Apostel, 29.

The two, who were first seen together in June, were spotted putting on a loved-up display in Beverly Hills this weekend, and Cruz even declared that he ‘loved’ his partner in an Instagram Story posted on Friday in honor of her birthday.

And, it looks like mom approves, as Apostel recently posed for a mirror photo on Instagram in a sexy, black lace dress that was seemingly given to her by Victoria.

‘Hot sauce and hotter outfits. thank u for the laciest dream piece @victoriabeckham,’ Apostel wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

She also included a few other snaps of herself in the stunning, curve-hugging, cut-out outfit in the post, showing herself laughing and smiling while sitting outdoors.

The dress doesn’t currently seem to be available as a part of Victoria Beckham’s clothing collection, so it appears that Beckham may have picked it out just for Apostel.

During Paris Fashion Week in September, the producer also congratulated her boyfriend’s mom in another sweet post on Instagram.

‘The most beautiful show and the most beautiful dress. Congratulations @victoriabeckham,’ Apostel wrote in the caption, showing off a few slides of herself wearing a silky, white dress.

She sat front-row at Beckham’s Paris Fashion Week show, alongside boyfriend Cruz, and his siblings Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

Of course, Beckham’s husband, David, was also seated front and center to see her gorgeous new collection.

Apostel’s post came just a few days short of the weekend, before she joined his mom and dad, as well as his sister, Harper, 13, for a day in Miami.

On Saturday, the group supported football-club owner David as they watched Inter Miami play the New England Revolution at the Chase Stadium.

The couple appeared smitten with each other, as Apostel was snapped lovingly placing her hand behind Cruz’s head.

They also held hands as they sat together in a luxury suite at the game.

Cruz wore a casual gray t-shirt and gold chain around his neck, while Apostel stunned in a strapless black top and black pants.

Her hair was in a chic, slicked-back bun complete with light makeup.

Beckham’s seemingly positive stamp of approval comes after rumors that she had been feuding with her eldest son Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz.

Peltz addressed the feud during a 2022 interview with The Times.

She had previously confirmed that the rumors had begun after she didn’t wear Victoria’s wedding dress design when she tied the knot with the 48-year-old’s eldest son Brooklyn, doubled down on the claims.

But during the interview, she denied that the frosty tensions were a ‘feud’ and explained that the Victoria ‘s atelier simply hadn’t had time to make the dress, as she insisted: ‘No family is perfect.’

Now, however, it seems like things are pretty harmonious between the two of them, as Peltz gushed about how close she was to both of Brooklyn’s parents earlier this year.

‘I’m so close to mine and Brooklyn’s family and I think there’s no better feeling than knowing you have a strong support system,’ she told Byrdie.

‘It’s such a blessing, and I never take it for granted. I go to Florida any chance I get, and we stay at my parents’ house,’ she continued.

Peltz also added that she was ‘inspired’ by both Victoria and David Beckham’s 24-year marriage, as well as her parents, who have been married for 40 years.

‘He’s [David Beckham] so amazing with Victoria, and Brooklyn is so amazing to me,’ she says. ‘I’m so thankful they raised such an incredible guy I got to marry.’

Making of the Steel Magnolia: How £550-an-hour Queen of the family court Fiona Shackleton became Britain’s most feared – and best dressed – divorce lawyer representing King Charles, Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher (just don’t mention Heather Mills)

She was dubbed ‘Steel Magnolia’ for her charm and determination after securing Prince Charles a divorce settlement in 1996, which saw Princess Diana lose her HRH title.

Since then Fiona Shackleton, Britain’s highest-profile divorce lawyer, has worked with A-list stars such as Paul McCartneyLiam Gallagher and Madonna during their expensive and heavily spotlighted splits.

Baroness Shackleton, 67, is now claimed to have been in contact with actress Isla Fisher in 2022 before her divide from estranged husband Sacha Baron Cohen.

Fisher, 48, is said to have discreetly got in touch with Baroness Shackleton, who charges £550 per hour, several years before the actress publicly announced her split from Baron Cohen last week.

Baroness Shackleton was famously doused with water in court by a furious Heather Mills while representing Beatles legend McCartney during the couple’s divorce in 2008.

The lawyer ensured former model Mills got only £24million of the £125million she had sought.

McCartney filed for divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour, while Mills accused the musician of regularly being drunk and smoking cannabis, while also alleging he had been physically abusive.

Baroness Shackleton’s ex-Army husband is a descendant of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton.

The divorce lawyer even represented global superstar Madonna in her divorce from Guy Ritchie in 2008, with the singer and actress revealing the couple’s marriage collapsed after the romance died over time. Madonna was married to film director Ritchie for nearly 10 years between 2000 and 2008.

Oasis star Gallagher was also represented by Baroness Shackleton while he was embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-wife Nicola Appleton in 2015.

The rocker’s five-year marriage to Ms Appleton collapsed in 2013 when it emerged he was expecting a child with American journalist Liza Ghorbani, with whom he had an affair.

Appleton and Gallagher met in 2000 when Gallagher was the frontman of Oasis and Ms Appleton was a singer with girl group All Saints. The following year, they welcomed their son, Gene.

Baroness Shackleton also helped Nigella Lawson through her high-profile divorce to Charles Saatchi in 2013, which saw the food writer and TV cook end the couple’s 10 year marriage on the grounds of her husband’s ‘unreasonable behaviour’.

It is understood Mr Saatchi dispensed with lawyers to deal directly with Nigella’s famous lawyer Baroness Shackleton in an attempt to keep his multimillion pound art collection intact.

The daughter of a Bank of England adviser and the Sheriff of the City of London, Baroness Shackleton was educated at Benenden School in Kent.

Despite gaining just a third in law at Exeter University, the lawyer joined the Queen’s solicitors, Farrers in 1984.

She rose to partner level and then joined Payne Hicks Beach in 2001.

Fame came after she handled the divorce between the Duke and Duchess of York in which Sarah Ferguson was made to surrender her royal title.

She also represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana and was his personal solicitor until 2005.

Baroness Shackleton has also become known for her daring fashion sense that is not always entirely in keeping with Bar Council and Law Society guidance, which stresses ‘business suits’ should be worn.

Her colourful looks soften her image, perhaps leading opponents to underestimate her. They might also be a savvy PR trick, ensuring all eyes are on her even when pictured with world-famous clients.

Now actress Isla Fisher is said to have quietly got in touch with Baroness Shackleton in 2022 before her split from Baron Cohen.

On Friday, British actor Baron Cohen, 52, and Australian star Fisher announced they had quietly separated last year.

When Fisher contacted Baroness Shackleton in 2022 she is said to have advised the screen star and Sacha, who reportedly have a prenup, to go down the ‘amicable route’.

It has been claimed Isla and Sacha, who have three children, could attempt to come to a settlement over Sacha’s £40million estate.

A source told The Sun: ‘Isla has known for some time the marriage was over, and after some difficult conversations with Sacha, made the decision to consult a divorce lawyer. This was back in early summer, 2022.

‘Fiona Shackleton was recommended by mutual contacts, and Isla was put in touch with an associate at the office.

‘It was also suggested she seek out a lawyer in the US, where the couple have a home.

‘Fiona is an incredible lawyer, and utterly fearsome in both reputation and ability.’

They went on to say it was suggested the pair attempt to keep things as amicable as possible for the sake of their children.

But, if things do turn sour, Baroness Shackleton will ensure she does a thorough job for her client Isla.

Borat star Baron Cohen is said to have spoken to Laura Wasser who represented Johnny Depp when he split from Amber Heard, and was involved in Angelina Jolie’s divorce from Brad Pitt.

Could you own Diana’s dresses? Gowns belonging to late Princess will feature in an upcoming auction including unseen design by Catherine Walker

Some of Diana‘s most iconic outfits will be featured in an upcoming auction paying homage to her fashion.

The late Princess of Wales‘s timeless looks, including a Catherine Walker skirt suit and a hat designed by Philip Somerville, are a part of the sale taking place this summer.

It follows in the footsteps of the historic 1997 Christie’s charity auction, and will see cocktail and evening dresses go under the hammer – as well as skirts, shoes and other accessories.

Los Angeles-based Julien’s Auctions will tour the garments in an exhibition, before holding the sale at The Museum of Style Icons in Ireland on 27 June.

Elsewhere, a multi-coloured wide-brim hat sported by the royal during her Royal Tour in Australia in 1985 is thought to rack up $10,000 – 20,000.

A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit Muscular Dystrophy UK, the leading charity for more than 110,000 people in the UK living with one of over 60 muscle-wasting and weakening conditions.

Julien’s Auctions say: ‘Diana may have been a princess, but her allure rivaled that of a Hollywood starlet.

‘Though she left no films behind, her legacy lives on through the exquisite gowns and accessories that continue to captivate audiences, inviting them to delve deeper into her enigmatic persona.

‘They adore it and want to spend as much time there as possible.

‘It’s their dream property and the culmination of all their hard work.’

MailOnline have contacted representatives of David and Victoria for comment.

The couple are thought to have purchased the home in order to be close to David’s team Inter Miami.

Built in 2018, the vast property which overlooks Biscayne Bay, comes with a range of stunning features, including a huge number of bedrooms, four half-bathrooms and a chef’s kitchen.

David and Victoria can also enjoy their own private cinema, a gym, a spa and a pool.

David and Victoria have long been settled in the Sunshine State, and previously splashed out $20million on a full-floor 10,000-square-foot penthouse in downtown Miami in 2020.

In the heart of Miami, among the towering skyscrapers that rise above the Bay of Biscayne, the eye-catching luxury condo building by late star architect Zaha Hadid dominates the skyline.

The unique curved ‘exoskeleton’ design of the One Thousand Museum building has created buzz and is the only residential space in downtown Miami with a helipad.

The building houses 82 separate units, a Sky Lounge for residents use, an Aquatic Center, infinity-edge pool, 24-hour security and a private cinema.

Some of its quirkier features include, customised ‘scenting’ throughout the common areas, fresh flower deliveries and event planning services.

The residence, which is now said to be worth £22.6million, after the Beckhams bought it for £17.15million, is part of David and former Spice Girl Victoria’s £73million worldwide property portfolio.

David reportedly netted a £10million mortgage for the home three years ago.

It is claimed the former footballer will have to pay back more than £40,000 per month, with the repayment being bumped up to nearly £48,000 to include taxes.

He purchased property through his firm Beckham Brand Ltd when he was setting up his Inter Miami football club, according to The Sun.

The penthouse is used as a base for the family when David works with his football team Inter Miami, their eldest child Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz also live in the US, allowing the family to spend time together.

David and Victoria purchased their London mansion in 2013 for £21.4 million at the height of the London market, nestled in posh Holland Park.

They had spent months looking for an ideal family home after David retired from football and the Beckhams were looking to make the UK their base again.

David and Victoria spent around £8 million renovating the property but despite this, it was revealed last year that the home needed urgent structural repairs to stop the raised roof terrace from collapsing.

The 9,000 sq ft house has eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms and features a playroom, gym and spa.

Victoria, the comeback queen of fashion: Royals from around world pay homage to Britain’s brand Beckham

Victoria Beckham is experiencing a resurgence after several years of big financial losses.

In 2023, her namesake company achieved record revenues and double-digit growth for the third consecutive year.

And in the past month alone, numerous celebrities, including Demi MooreNicky Hilton and Eva Longoria, have been spotted wearing the luxury brand. It even featured in the Netflix drama The Perfect Couple, worn by Nicole Kidman in her role as Greer Garrison Winbury.

Royals across the globe have also embraced the label, with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Mary of Denmark all donning Victoria Beckham designs in September.

This surge in interest coincided with the unveiling of the spring/summer 2025 collection, which received widespread acclaim during Paris Fashion Week.

Moving the bi-annual show from London to Paris in 2022 was a strategic move to enhance the brand.

Indeed, Victoria Beckham has come a long way since debuting her first collection -just 10 dresses – to a room of skeptical fashion editors in New York in 2008.

She is now launching her fourth perfume, a vanilla scent named 21:50 Rêverie, which featured in her latest runway show. Interestingly, perfume sales have significantly boosted online revenue.

Today, Victoria Beckham’s eponymous label serves as the foundation of the modern woman’s wardrobe, offering versatile and wearable pieces that embody a sophisticated sense of modernity.

Developed at the London atelier, her collection of ready-to-wear clothing, footwear, eyewear and leather goods celebrate British luxury with a subtle contemporary twist.

The fashion house specialises in tailored garments, such as dresses, denim and separates, enhanced by signature details including off-kilter prints, modern silhouettes and unique colour palettes.

Two of the brand’s most prominent supporters, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have long-standing ties to the British label.

While Kate Middleton has only publicly worn three items from Victoria Beckham’s range – a dress, a tote bag and sunglasses – her ‘Quincy’ tote dates back to July 2016, when she introduced it at the Wimbledon women’s semi-finals.

She later sported a distinctive pair of Victoria Beckham sunglasses during the 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

Additionally, Kate chose an elegant Victoria Beckham cotton-blend dress for her Shaping Us campaign launch in Leeds in January 2023.

Victoria’s husband, David, has a long-standing friendship with Prince William, and the couple attended William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

Victoria even shared posts from the Prince and Princess’s Heads Together campaign during the Covid lockdown in 2020.

She also reportedly reached out to Kate during her preventative chemotherapy cancer treatment, sending her a pamper package.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were working members of the Royal Family, the Beckhams maintained a close relationship with them, too, attending their wedding in 2018.

Meghan has worn Victoria Beckham dresses on multiple occasions, including on Christmas Day in 2018 and at the Endeavour Fund Awards in 2020.

However, after the Sussexes reportedly accused the Beckhams of leaking stories about them to the Press, their friendship deteriorated.

Recently, however, Meghan has been spotted wearing some of Victoria’s designs once again, which might indicate a potential reconciliation between her and the fashion designer.

Most recently, she wore a pair of wide-leg wool trousers at a British Fashion Council event in London. The striking design, inspired by 1970s aesthetics, features the brand’s signature modern flair.

Victoria Beckham’s popularity extends beyond the UK, with Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands leading the way.

Letizia has shown particular enthusiasm for Victoria Beckham’s recent collaboration with High Street retailer Mango, stepping out in the distinctive ‘Harlow’ cut-out shirt.

Launched in April to celebrate Mango’s 40th anniversary, the affordable collection included slinky bias-cut dresses, sharp tailoring and beachy knitwear – all pieces that could easily fit into the designer’s own wardrobe.

The sold-out range offered the brand’s signature looks at a more accessible price point, broadening its appeal to a wider audience.

  • Denise Welch addresses ‘heartbreak’ behind son Matty Healy’s fame after chaotic journey

Denise Welch addresses ‘heartbreak’ behind son Matty Healy’s fame after chaotic journey

Loose Women star Denise Welch has supported her eldest son Matty Healy through his rise to fame as the frontman of The 1975

Denise Welch has shared her true thoughts on her son Matty Healy, 35, finding international fame in The 1975. Quizzed about whether she found the concept of her son also being in the public eye “odd”, the Loose Women star told how she knew the moment was coming for Matty, as she always had faith in him.

Detailing his journey to fame, she explained: “It’s not odd because it’s not an overnight thing, because Matty was 35 this week, and I’ve celebrated in Los Angeles, which has been fabulous.

“But he started the band when he was 14 in our garage, so The 1975, who were Drive Like I Do [the band’s former name], who were all these different things, this is no overnight success – it’s 20 years in the making.”

On Darren Kennedy’s The Number podcast back in May, she went on address her reaction to Matty telling her that he couldn’t make it to her wedding.

She shared: “And so, there were times like when Matty said, in 2013, when I was getting married to Lincoln and I was doing a play with Keith Allen, I remember vividly we were in the hotel room and Matty rang and said, ‘Mum, how would you feel if I couldn’t come to your wedding?’

“And I said, ‘Well I’d f***ing kill you, there is no excuse’, and he said, ‘not even if we’re supporting The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park?’”

Denise then recalled how she used to tell a young Matty and his bandmates that they could get away with more wild antics when they get to the point where they’re performing with the iconic English rock band.

She continued: “I used to say when they were under my feet, and I’m feeding them all, and they’re there with their guitars and bottles of whisky at 5am, and I would go, ‘when you’re on stage with The Rolling Stones – then you can do this – and then you can do that!’ So what could I say?”

Mum-of-two Denise, who shares Matty and younger son Louis with ex-husband Tim Healy, proudly added: “I always had faith in Matty.”

However, the TV star explained it hasn’t always been easy to adjust to her son becoming a rock star, due to him spending so much time away from home.

While it had been “wonderful” to witness his success, she admitted it was also “heartbreaking” as she missed Matt and his band members being under her feet.

Denise had the space at her Cheshire home for the band to rehearse and often had a house full with not just the band, but also their girlfriends.

Despite the chaos, the Loose Women star later yearned for the times that the band were all together at her house when their first single Chocolate became a hit, not long after being played on BBC Radio 1.

She shared: “But when they were 22, and Chocolate was picked up at Radio 1, and the trajectory started, they all just left me.

“And it was, ‘please come back and drive me mad, and be under my feet’, and it’s just been very different because I share my son with a lot of people.”

At the time of the chat, Denise said it was “fantastic” to finally get some time with her son after a busy two years on tour.

  • Piers Morgan told ‘do better’ as he’s hit with backlash over Liam Payne comments

Piers Morgan told ‘do better’ as he’s hit with backlash over Liam Payne comments

Piers Morgan has been slammed on social media after he and America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel discussed the death of Liam Payne on his YouTube programme.

Piers Morgan has come underfire after discussing the death of Liam Payne.

The former One Direction singer tragically fell to his death aged 31 last week, falling from the balcony of his third floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The star died after suffering multiple traumas leading to an “internal and external haemorrhage”. In the latest instalment of his YouTube programme, Piers was joined by Howie Mandel, Liam’s friend and former X Factor co-star Katie Waissel, radio star James Barr and broadcaster Esther Krakue to discuss the devastating news.

Broadcaster Piers stated that Liam had substances “including cocaine, crack and benzodiazepine,” in his system at the time of his death. Local reports claimed these were included in “pink cocaine” which is made up of drugs such as MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.

In the latest instalment of Uncensored, former America’s Got Talent judge Howie said that while on shows such as Got Talent and X Factor “if we feel that somebody is going south a little bit, there is somebody to watch over them and talk to them.” He added: “This is not a talent thing. In fact, Liam if he came to a talent thing, his outcome was great. The people who are rejected have the harder time.”

He added that Liam had spoken openly about his issues with drugs and alcohol before getting clean. Piers commented: “Howie, let me bring in Katie – what I will say there about Liam, who I didn’t know very well. I know some members of the band One Direction much better – Niall is a good friend of mine and so on. Clearly Niall and Harry Styles and Louis, they’ve all built incredibly successful solo careers, I’ve covered many boybands over the years, some of them end up doing better than others when they go solo.”

Katie, who has since started legal training to become a lawyer has spoken openly about the lack of aftercare she and her co-stars received after appearing on the show in 2010. As Piers questioned what duty of care The X Factor had, Howie interrupted shouting: “Nothing, nothing, nothing.” James Barr interrupted saying: “Yet these shows would describe these people as their family.”

“Did she need help then?!” exclaimed Howie, shouting over Katie. Esther added: “When these people are becoming famous and they’re getting the money that they want. But when you have the dark side of fame, that apparently becomes everyone else’s fault.” But he has since been met with backlash on social media for appearing to blame Liam.

“Do better… You should know better than to blame the victim,” said one furious X, formerly known as Twitter user. A second went on to add: ” Piers Morgan doesn’t make any sense.” A third wrote: “Yes a dark side of fame, but no not suddenly it is everyones fault. Fans/ public have known for a while how terrible the industry is. We have spoken out many times before. Liam is just the current artist to have something tragic happen. So many have passed under suspicious causes.”

“The fact Piers and Howie were even considered ‘talent’ judges at one point in time without having an ounce of it themselves is bizarre, Leave Liam rest in peace, don’t throw stones while living in a glass house,” fumed another. A fifth added: “People have been screaming about the lack of care for minors & adults in this industry w/ little care or concern for their wellbeing. He took responsibility for his addictions but no one has taken responsibility for how the lack of care.” Katie Waissel has since hit out, saying: “It was abhorrent from start to finish.”

Since the news of Liam’s death, over 60,000 people have signed an online petition, encouraging the government to enact legislation to safeguard musicians and their mental health, which fans have insisted be called “Liam’s law.”

  • Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford slammed for showing ‘true colours’ in far-right riots debate

Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford slammed for showing ‘true colours’ in far-right riots debate

Loose Women fans hit out at Ruth Langsford for her views on the recent riots following the tragic slaying of children in Southport as she clashed with panelist Myleene Klass

Viewers of Loose Women were left outraged over Ruth Langsford’s comments on the recent riots in the UK, following the fatal stabbing of children in Southport.

Three children were stabbed to death following an unprovoked knife attack in Southport, Merseyside, by suspect Axel Rudakubana. And this sparked riots all over the UK including Manchester, Liverpool, Belfast, Middlesborough and Hartlepool. And rioters attacked police and a local mosque following misinformation on social media about the accused.

And during Loose Women’s Monday show [August 5] Ruth Langsford, Gloria Hunniford and Myleene Klass clashed over a difference of opinion. Gloria kicked off the debate stating that “nothing justifies” the level of violence that was captured on TV and social media. She also said the riots were attended by “ordinary people like ourselves in the mix who really are frustrated about their voice not being heard’.”

She added: “I don’t believe every single person in that mix was a far-right [member] or a thug. I think people are frustrated by the migrant situation’.” And it was at this point, Ruth chimed in and agreed with Gloria that the issues surrounding immigration “underlined” the violent scenes shown.

She then added: “But skim those people away, and there are people who want to protest peacefully and quietly but want to be heard. In the media it’s being skewed to far-right thugs… but people are worried about saying they’re concerned about immigration because you are labelled a racist.”

And her comments did not sit well with viewers. Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Tory Ruth showing her true colours too, her and Gloria should be ashamed of themselves.” Another person labelled Ruth and Gloria’s comments as “hideous.” Listening to the comments made on the panel, Myleene then said: “My mother’s from the Philippines. She came as a nurse. My father is from Austria, he became a Navy captain. A lot of people protesting benefit from migration. They drive cars from Germany, wear clothes from Bangladesh and Vietnam, they probably have a curry on a Friday night and have come into contact with a Pakistani doctor.”

And while Myleene tried to elaborate on her point on the financial benefits of migration, Ruth interrupted her and said: “Those might be people who’ve been here for many years. The issue now is that the country is full – it’s groaning under the weight of this.” While many hit out at Ruth and Gloria, it seemed others were able to see another perspective. One person added: “The services in this country are groaning under the weight of Tory cuts. I wish people – rich people – would stop gaslighting us.”

Myleene then identified the debate on migration was a “massive firework that everyone’s being [distracted by]”. And she also criticised the politicians for ignoring needs of people in society. And another viewer agreed with her saying: “Yes Myleene, thank you for speaking the truth. Gloria and Ruth not wanting them to say it how it is.”

  • Mike Tindall gushes as candid picture of his daughter Mia and Prince Philip emerges

Mike Tindall gushes as candid picture of his daughter Mia and Prince Philip emerges

Mike Tindall shared some royal family insights in his book called The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed, in which Zara Phillips’s husband spoke about the late Queen

Mike Tindall has gushed over a poignant photograph of his daughter Mia with the late Prince Philip – which he says shows how “normal” his family is.

The former rugby ace, who married into the royal family after wedding Zara Phillips in 2011, opened up about his life with the Firm in a new book released on Thursday. In The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed, the 45-year-old man attempts to set the record straight about what life being part of the Firm is like – and what he experienced spending time with the late Queen.

Although he concedes there is “a lot of drama surrounding the royal family”, Mike insists Zara’s relations are “normal”. He alludes to a photograph he’s since resurfaced on his Instagram of his daughter Mia and the late Prince Philip, her great-grandfather, in the garden of a royal property. The snap is believed to have been taken during a family holiday in Scotland in the years before Philip’s death in April 2021.

Writing in his book, Mike says: “There’s a great picture of my daughter Mia sitting with the Duke of Edinburgh that captures exactly what those afternoons were like: members of a very close family who loved each other dearly spending precious time together. Yes, there’s a lot of drama surrounding the royal family, but they aren’t much different to anyone else underneath it all.”

The poignant snap shows Philip and Mia, now aged 10, eating on a terrace of a wooden cabin property, said to be in Scotland. Two drinks are pictured on the table beside the family’s plates.

Mike, who has three children with Zara, said meals, in particular, show just how everyday the royal family is. He adds: “Lunches were also relaxed, especially up in Scotland, where lunch would often be heading out into the open space of the Scottish Highlands for a picnic.

“I’m sometimes asked if the Queen did informality like ‘normal’ people, and the answer to that is yes. Her life wasn’t like an episode of Downton Abbey, with meals on long tables and everyone dressed in their finery every night, and Zara and I would often watch the racing with her on TV, as I’m sure lots of people reading this have done with their gran.”

A whole chapter of The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed is dedicated to royalty. The rest of the book concerns the sport Mike played professionally for around 20 years. He played 75 times for England between 2000 and 2011, during which time he met Anne, Princess Royal’s daughter Zara in Australia. They confirmed their engagement in 2010, wed the following year and since welcomed Mia, Lena, six, and three-year-old Lucas.
