Prince Harry jokingly accuses John Travolta of ‘dining out’ on star’s dance with Princess Diana and calls him ‘Captain John’ as he receives ‘Living Legend’ award at glitzy Beverley Hills bash

Prince Harry jokingly accused John Travolta of ‘dining out’ on the story of his dance with Princess Diana as he stepped out in Los Angeles to be honoured as a ‘Living Legend of Aviation’.

The Duke of Sussex was presented with the prestigious award by Travolta who famously danced with his late mother at a White House dinner for President Ronald Reagan in 1985.

Prince Harry embraced the Hollywood star and private pilot and referred to him as ‘Captain John’ before giving an acceptance speech at last night’s Beverly Hills bash.

Addressing the audience at the Beverly Hills Hilton, Harry inspected his medal and said: ‘This is nice. Thanks very much, Captain John.

‘I was one-year-old when you danced with my mum. As you’ve told everybody here and continue to dine out on that probably every single night.

‘But look at us now! It’s great. So if we’re not going to dance together, we’ll fly together.’

The Telegraph reports that as the audience laughed, the duke appeared to hold his hand up to jokingly dismiss Travolta, adding: ‘Thank you, that’s it, we’re done.’

Travolta, himself a pilot, was reportedly the driving force behind Harry receiving the award after feeling an affinity for the prince after dancing with Diana – though the prince’s nomination angered some military pilots who felt it was unearned.

He was in high spirits on Friday as he joined Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, a 46-year-old minor German royal and cousin of outgoing Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II, and others at the Beverly Hills Hilton – and did not mention his sister in law Kate or dad Charles’ medical dramas.

Harry was not accompanied by wife Meghan, who had been expected to attend; she was not present as one of their children became unwell, according to a report from the PA news agency.

The Duke of Sussex completed two tours of Afghanistan as a forward air controller and an Apache helicopter pilot, having flown countless training missions in the UK, US and Australia.

He served for 10 years in the military, rising to the rank of Captain, and later founded the Invictus Games – a sporting event for wounded military personnel and veterans.

On stage, Travolta asked him of his time flying for the Army: ‘What can you remember about your first flight?’

    Harry quipped back: ‘It’s classified.’

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who grabbed a photo with Harry at the awards, later called the moment between Harry and Travolta on-stage ‘very touching and sweet’.

‘John Travolta presented the award and he referred to the dance with his mother Princess Diana, (when) Prince Harry was one year old so he’s like, ‘Now I see you again under a new circumstance, on a new stage’,’ he said.

‘That was very touching and very sweet because we all remember how gorgeous the dance was of John Travolta and Princess Diana, and now Princess Diana’s son is getting an award from John Travolta. It was the cutest, most touching moment.’

In his speech, Harry went on to thank the Living Legends of Aviation awards for the ‘incredible honour’, adding that he is ‘proud to be recognised among such a dynamic and inspiring group of individuals’.

Harry takes his place alongside other aviation and aerospace ‘legends’ including Buzz Aldrin, Jeff BezosTom Cruise, Neil Armstrong, Harrison FordMorgan Freeman and Elon Musk.

He continued: ‘For me, flying has been a transcendent experience. A close encounter with magic, an invitation to both protect freedom… and to feel free, and, funny enough, an opportunity to ground oneself, without actually being grounded.

‘I find my flight training — which was over the course of three years— to be one of life’s greatest lessons. It triggered a vast array of feelings.’

He did not allude to the medical dramas for his family on the other side of the Atlantic; Kate Middleton is part-way through a two-week stay in hospital after undergoing surgery, while King Charles is being treated for an enlarged prostate.

Kate underwent ‘planned abdominal surgery’ earlier this week that was ‘successful’, Kensington Palace said on Wednesday, adding that she will remain in the London Clinic for up to two weeks.

‘Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,’ the Palace said.

Details of the surgery have not been made public; sources told the Daily Mail that her condition is ‘non cancerous’. Kate is not expected to resume her public duties until sometime after Easter.

Kensington Palace added: ‘The Princess Of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.

‘She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.’

Prince William was pictured leaving the London Clinic on Thursday, having taken some time away from royal duties to be with his wife and look after their children in the coming weeks.

An hour and a half after Kensington Palace’s announcement, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III would also be undergoing treatment in hospital next week for his enlarged prostate.

The King was pictured returning to Sandringham on Friday with Queen Camilla to rest ahead of the planned surgery, flying more than 300 miles on an RAF jet from Aberdeen Airport to RAF Marham.

Speaking in Aberdeen earlier this week, following the news of the health scare, Camilla said: ‘He’s fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work.’

Harry’s nomination for the aviation award angered some top former British military officials.

Lord West, former head of the Royal Navy, said: ‘He is not a living legend of aviation. To suggest he is is pathetic. It makes the whole thing seem a bit of a nonsense if they’re willing to pick someone like Prince Harry.

‘He didn’t carry off any great exciting feat of amazing flying skill while flying for the Army. They’re just trying to get publicity. They know it will cause a stir.’

Retired officer Colonel Richard Kemp said that Harry was ‘a brave guy’ and his role in Afghanistan was ‘undoubtedly very dangerous’.

But he said that there are ‘helicopter pilots who have done much more extraordinary things in Iraq and Afghanistan, risking their lives to rescue their fellow soldiers.’

The Living Legends of Aviation website also praised the duke for his work with charities and organizations including Travalyst, Sentebale, African Parks and WellChild.

A statement on its website said, ‘Prince Harry is a humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist.

‘He has dedicated his life to advancing causes that he is passionate about and that bring about permanent change for people and places.’

Harry was inducted alongside US navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Hinton, as well as Lauren Sanchez – a helicopter pilot who is engaged to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

She is set to receive the Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award for her skills as a helicopter pilot and aviation businesswoman, having founded aerial filming company Black Ops Aviation in 2016.

The duke’s appearance comes as his father, the King, prepared to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate next week, while his sister-in-law the Princess of Wales recovers from abdominal surgery in the London Clinic.

Kate is not expected to resume public duties until well into the spring.

Aside from the late Queen herself, her ladies-in-waiting and Michael Fagan, the notorious intruder who climbed up a drainpipe and broke into Buckingham Palace in 1982, very few can claim to have set foot in Her Majesty’s bedroom.

Even fewer will have examined the photographs on her bedside table, leafed through the correspondence on her desk or — surely a treasonable offence — dared to sit on the royal bed.

It is, I can report, squishier than you might imagine, and closer to the ground than the average bed, to account for Elizabeth II’s petite 5 ft 3 in stature.

The bedspread, which matches the armchairs, is chintzy pink, every surface is adorned with porcelain trinkets – and there are no fewer than seven well-used dog beds around the room.

Fear not, I haven’t shimmied up any drainpipes to get here: the royal quarters are part of a set, from the Netflix series The Crown, on display at London auction house Bonhams ahead of a landmark sell-off of souvenirs, costumes and props from the show.

The drama’s sixth and final series — taking the action up to 2005 — was released last month. The Mail has gained exclusive access to more than 500 pieces of memorabilia being sold off by production company Left Bank Pictures in a two-part auction (live and online) culminating on February 7.

The lots, arranged in a free public exhibition, range from small (a cocktail stirrer used by the character of the Queen Mother) to large (a green Jaguar driven by the Princess Diana character) to very, very large indeed (a full-size replica of the gold State Coach).

It’s thrilling and surreal to find myself perching regally on the 700-year-old Coronation chair, practising my wave from the royal coach and rifling through Diana’s dressing table. I’m even allowed to try on one of the Queen’s outfits — an elegant blue coat and hat worn by actress Imelda Staunton — and slide Kate Middleton’s sapphire engagement sparkler on to my finger.

‘It’s the closest anyone can come to owning the real thing,’ says Charlie Thomas of Bonhams.

Though these may be replicas — only the most eagle-eyed observers will be able to tell them apart.

Every tiny detail — from the lace on Princess Margaret’s wedding dress to the pattern on Prince William’s skis — is an exact match of the original, and there is even genuine rust (purchased by the bagful by the set designers) painted on the underside of the carriage.

The auctioneers are expecting to raise millions from the sale.

So if you’ve got some spare pennies in the bank and want to snap up a piece of (replica) royal history, what’s up for grabs?

THE QUEEN: CORGIS AND A CARRIAGE BUT NO CROWN

Comprising a flowing linen gown, gold lamé tunic and crimson velvet cape, the robes of state — worn by Claire Foy as The Queen during her Coronation in series one — are one of the most expensive lots in the auction, estimated to sell for £20,000 to £30,000.

Meg Randell, Bonhams’ head of fashion, hopes that buyers will bid on some of Her Majesty’s outfits not simply for posterity but to wear them — in which case a sparkling teal ballgown, from the second season, might be a better choice (£3,000-£5,000).

‘Some of these items really deserve a second life,’ says Meg. ‘They’re special and completely unique. For example, there’s a headscarf that has a beautiful abstract painting of the Gardens of Versailles on it, and that was a hand-drawn pattern [part of the Queen’s stalking outfit, estimated between £700 and £1,000] — but blink and you’d miss it on screen.’

Sadly, there are no crowns in the auction, and surprisingly few royal jewels. ‘These were all rented for filming,’ says Meg.

There are, however, rails upon rails of outfits, shoes and accessories worn by the three actresses playing the Queen — Foy, Olivia Colman and Staunton — including a safari suit from the Kenya episode (£1,000-£1,500), a cream umbrella (£200-£300) and a full-length gold banquet gown complete with blue Order of the Garter sash (£3,000-£5,000).

Buyers can purchase the ‘audience room bell’, rung by the Queen to usher in waiting prime ministers (£200-£300), Her Majesty’s mahogany writing desk, complete with photographs, trinkets and lamp (£3,000-£5,000), and a Filofax used by her dresser, Angela Kelly, played by Lizzie Hopley (£500-£800).

Not forgetting her bed, a Louis XVI French kingwood design with a reserve of £5,000 to £8,000. And the Queen’s love of corgis is represented with seven wicker dog beds (sold as one lot, £1,000 to £1,500), and there’s a pair of charming porcelain dog figures (£200-£300).

Then, of course, there’s the State Coach, the grandest item on sale, an impressive 3.1 metres tall and 5.6 metres long, which required a feat of engineering just to get it into the auction house.

Made from wood, fibreglass, clay and 3D printing, the gold-painted carriage — constructed in 2019 — is lined with red velvet and is estimated at £30,000 to £50,000.

It works, too: in theory, you could harness six horses to the front and ride away (though it is restricted to walking pace, and unlikely to comply with traffic regulations for road use).

DIANA: A RACING CAR AND RACIER FASHIONS

As the most fashion-forward of the royals, it’s no surprise that most of the high-ticket items belong to Diana, Princess of Wales, played in turn by Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki.

Most coveted of all is her ‘revenge’ dress, listed for £8,000 to £12,000, which Diana famously wore to an event at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994, on the same day that Charles’s affair with Camilla became public.

The replica, made from pleated black silk and chiffon, is so tiny in its proportions, mirroring Diana’s minute frame, that Meg says they ‘struggled to find a mannequin small enough to display it. I really hope this will be bought by someone, maybe a celebrity, who wants to wear it,’ she adds. ‘It would be wonderful if it could be worn as another ‘act of revenge’. I could see it appearing on a red carpet, or somewhere like the Met Gala.’

There are several other striking outfits: her powder-blue engagement suit (£1,500-£2,000); a grey ‘Harvard’ sweatshirt and cycling shorts (£500-£700); and even the protective garb she wore while walking through a minefield in Angola (£2,000-£3,000).

Swimsuits feature highly (including a leopard-print one, £800-£1,200), while sporty types might want to snap up the white leather roller skates and outfit she wears in season four (£800-£1,200).

Most intriguing of all, and strangely intimate to behold, is her dressing table, an Edwardian-style mahogany and mother-of-pearl dresser (£2,000-£3,000), which comes with an array of eerily accurate paraphernalia: her favourite lily of the valley perfume, Yves Saint Laurent foundation and a gold Cartier watch.

Seasoned travellers will have their eye on her ten-piece powder-blue luggage set, monogrammed with ‘HRH Princess of Wales’ — sure to raise an eyebrow at Heathrow (£2,000-£3,000).

There’s also a baby grand piano from her Kensington apartments (£800-£1,200), while the 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC Cabriolet from season five is ready to drive away today, having recently passed its MoT (£15,000-£20,000).

KING CHARLES: TRINKETS AND A VERY POSH PEN

Viewers will remember watching a young Charles whizzing round the Palace in a ride-on green racing car — yours for £80 to £120, if you want a memento of the monarch as a child.

Bidders can also buy the pocket watch carried by Josh O’Connor in season three (£400-£600), the signet ring worn by Dominic West in season five (£700- £900), or one of Charles’s trusty walking canes, hewn from Scottish horn and hazel, for £200 to £300.

Bigger items include his gilt-edged mahogany writing desk, seen in his study at Highgrove throughout season five, which comes with a brass-inlaid armchair, a Mulberry crocodile-effect blotter, paperweights and letter openers (£800-£1,200).

Also on offer is a Montblanc fountain pen used by Charles in the show (£300-£500); this is his favourite make, while the Queen preferred Parker.

Charles is not known for his fondness for fashion — but there are a handful of outfits up for auction: his engagement suit (£1,000-£1,500), ermine-hooded investiture robes (£5,000-£7,000) and a polo outfit with riding boots (£1,000-£5,000).

KATE AND WILLS: SKIS AND THAT SEE-THROUGH DRESS

Kate (played by newcomer Meg Bellamy) and William (Ed McVey) don’t appear until season six of The Crown — and there’s a crucial part of their royal romance up for grabs: the see-through dress from the charity fashion show at St Andrews University in March 2002.

William reportedly paid £200 for a front-row seat at the event, at which Kate strutted down the runway wearing nothing but black underwear and a custom-made mesh dress.

It was later auctioned for £78,000; this replica is estimated between £2,000 and £3,000.

There are only two other Kate-related lots in the auction: a ‘casual country look’, comprising Penelope Chilvers boots and a tweed skirt (£600-£800); and the ring first worn by Diana and later given to her by William on their engagement in 2010.

While the real sparkler, an 18-carat white gold band set with a 12-carat oval sapphire and 14 diamonds cost £47,000, this is estimated between £2,000 and £3,000 — though none of the stones are real.

Prince William’s Eton uniform, complete with grey trousers from M&S, is also on sale (£500-£800), as is a set of vintage skis, used by Charles and a young William and Harry in season six (£200-£300).

MARGARET: KAFTANS AND A SMOKING BOX

‘Princess Margaret’s outfits are so evocative of who she was as a character,’ says Meg. ‘They’re colourful, eye-catching and usually rather loud.’

Among the top-priced items are a floor-length, fuchsia-pink taffeta ballgown (£1,000-£1,500) and a flowing gold kaftan worn by Helena Bonham Carter in series three (£600-£800).

There are several more kaftans and nightdresses, as well as a floor-length white-and-pink printed dress (£1,500-£2,000).

Fans can also adorn their house with Margaret paraphernalia: a huge 19th-century giltwood mirror (£1,000-£1,500), a selection of props (including a smoking box, mother-of-pearl lighter and cut-glass hip flask, £200-£300), and a set of silver-mounted hairbrushes (£200-£300).

PRINCE PHILIP’S BARBECUES AND THATCHER’S SUIT

Half-full bottles of Tanqueray gin and Hennessy cognac form part of the lowest-priced item in the auction (£60-£80): a bar set, complete with silver tray and cocktail ‘swizzle stick’, used by the Queen Mother, played by Victoria Hamilton.

A fold-up steel barbecue, based on an original 1950s design by Prince Philip — who wanted it to fit in the back of his car — is on offer for £400 to £600, or you can buy a vintage croquet set (£200-£300).

Fashion highlights include the ivory ensemble worn by Camilla, Queen Consort (played by Olivia Williams) on her wedding day in 2005, estimated between £1,000 and £1,500, and several custom-made satin gowns worn by Erin Doherty as Princess Anne in series three.

And it’s not all royals: bidders can also buy the blue skirt suit and black Launer handbag combo belonging to Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson, for £1,500 to £2,000.

Or why not invest in a 12-metre-long miniature enactment of the Queen’s funeral procession, from season six, comprising hundreds of toy soldiers, horses and other figurines — expected to sell for £8,000 to £12,000.

Tempted? As Meg Randell puts it, ‘You’d need a very large house just to get it through the front door.’

Paul Burrell’s mock Tudor mansion is haunted by the ghost of Princess Diana, the former royal butler says – as he claims late Queen believed in ghosts too

Princess Diana‘s former butler has revealed that the late royal haunts his mock Tudor mansion in Cheshire and that the late Queen also believed in the supernatural.

Paul Burrell started working in Charles and Diana’s royal household in 1987 and was the Princess’s personal butler until her death in 1997.

The 65-year-old was having his home inspected by a group of ghost hunters on an episode of Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted on Discovery Plus when he made the claims.

Mr Burrell and his husband, litigation lawyer Graham Cooper, 64, called in the paranormal experts after being kept up at night by shadowy figures, wafts of cigarette smoke and unexplained bumps.

But the team hardly put the couple’s mind at ease when their special EVP recorder, which they claim allows them to ‘hear beyond the human ear for any nearby spirit contact’, received some disturbing messages.

The machine reported back with the words ‘sorry’ and ‘France’ and Mr Burrell believes that the latter might be a reference to the Princess’s death in a car crash while being driven through the Pont de L’Alma tunnel in Paris.

The Mirror reports that the former royal butler said: ‘I don’t understand why it would say “France” other than the fact that the Princess died in France and the fact I went to France to bring her home.

‘I had been introduced to this world before by the Princess – she was heavily involved in spirituality.’

Diana’s ex-butler has previously described himself as the late Princess’s ‘best friend’ and has alleged she referred to him as ‘the only man she ever trusted’.

And Mr Burrell is convinced that Diana is still reaching out to him more than 26 years after her death.

‘When you have loved someone in life – and I did love her – and they pass very quickly, a little piece of them remains behind and you carry them with you for the rest of your days,’ he said.

Mr Burrell added that he dreams about Diana regularly, usually at around 3am, but that he is not obsessed with her as he only has one photo of the two together although he has hundreds of pictures of the Princess.

The former royal servant also said that Queen Elizabeth II believed in ghosts and would only stay in Allt-na-giubhsaich, the cottage in Balmoral, if her corgis were with her as they would sense a supernatural presence before she could.

This comes after Mr Burrell applauded King Charles for being so open about his prostate condition on Monday.

Mr Burrell got the ‘all clear’ from doctors last year after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said:

‘His issues and his condition is very different to mine but similar in other ways, it will be uncomfortable for him but his message is clear, he wants people to know about it and he wants people to come forward.

‘This is also what I am saying but he has a bigger platform than me, people are following him and going to the GP, people are going in droves.’

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Princess Diana’s first private secretary Oliver Everett dies aged 80… Taking the reasons for his falling-out with the late Princess of Wales to his grave

Princess Diana‘s first private secretary Oliver Everett, who has died aged 80, has taken to his grave the reasons for his monumental falling-out with, and subsequent dismissal by, the Princess of Wales. Oliver had struggled to deal with Diana’s increasing paranoia over Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Despite his sympathy, he increasingly became a non-person and was sacked by her in 1983. All he would say was that he had been ‘frozen out’.

Courtiers suspected that Diana felt he was too close to Charles, as he had been the Prince’s assistant private secretary from 1978 to 1980.

As a consolation prize the sympathetic Queen Elizabeth put him in charge of the Royal Library.

  • Martin Bashir blamed `professional jealousy´ for Panorama document forgery story

Martin Bashir blamed `professional jealousy´ for Panorama document forgery story

Martin Bashir told colleagues “professional jealousy” and his background were to blame for allegations that he secured an interview with Diana, Princess of Wales through deceit.

The email, written just months before documentaries into the Panorama interview exposed the scandal, was disclosed after the BBC was ordered by a judge in December to hand over around 3,000 emails relating to the affair.

Bashir was born in London to Pakistani parents and attended a comprehensive school in Wandsworth.

Journalist Andy Webb had put in a freedom of information (FOI) request more than two years ago for the material.

In an email, dated July 20 2020 and seen by the PA news agency, Bashir told the head of BBC history, Robert Seatter, that forged documents played no role in obtaining the interview and it would have caused less controversy if a “dynastic” journalist such as a Dimbleby had been involved.

He wrote: “I am sorry to hear that this so-called ‘forgery’ story has reared its head again.

“It played no part in the interview but did allow professional jealousy, particularly within the corporation, to hang its hat on alleged wrongdoing.

    Martin Bashir (Ian West/PA)

“At the time, it was also apparent that there was some irritation that a second-generation immigrant of non-white, working class roots should have the temerity to enter a Royal Palace and conduct an interview.

“It would have been so much easier if one of the dynastic families (Dimbleby et al) had done it!”

Bashir also told Mr Seatter he had been praised by the then-prince of Wales’ staff for not giving interviews about the programme.

He wrote: “Since returning to the UK in 2015, and re-joining the BBC in 2016, senior staff in the Prince of Wales’ Office (to my surprise) have expressed their gratitude for my declining of all requests to discuss the interview.

“As I am sure you will understand, the words of the late princess have been deployed to attack surviving members of the Royal Family, particularly the Prince of Wales, something that I have never wanted to do.

“Some day-who knows when (!)- I will need to look back and reflect upon a career that included but hope was not wholly defined by a single interview.

“For that I’ll need to work hard at recollection – something that I find very difficult.”

Mr Seatter was asking for a statement from Bashir following being asked to “release an archive interview about the event, which mentions a forgery story involving yourself”.

Bashir appeared to be referring to the then prince of Wales, now King, and journalists David Dimbleby, who regularly covers royal and political occasions for the BBC, and Jonathan Dimbleby, who interviewed Charles about his marriage, in his email.

This was ahead of the November 2020 broadcast of an ITV documentary The Diana Interview: Revenge Of A Princess in which graphic designer Matt Wiessler spoke about mocking up the documents for Bashir.

The BBC later apologised and made a financial settlement with Mr Wiessler.

To also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the interview Channel 4’s Diana: The Truth Behind The Interview aired and Diana: The Interview That Shocked The World were broadcast in the same year.

The newly released documents show Bashir was praised by colleagues at the broadcaster after the interview, with Lord Hall of Birkenhead, who was then the corporation’s director of news, saying Bashir handled it with “excellent judgment”.

He wrote in a letter: “Dear Martin, you should be very proud of your scoop. It was the interview of the decade – if not of our generation.

“But equally importantly, you handled it with skill, sensitivity and excellent judgment.

“There were many pitfalls awaiting us – you avoided them all. I also think you have carried yourself during this whole episode in absolutely the appropriate fashion. You have changed the way we report the monarchy. Thank you, Tony.”

Members of the corporation’s Television Weekly Programme Review Board also praised Bashir at a meeting two days after the interview aired.

Newly released minutes said: “(Former Radio 4 controller) Mark Damazer said that Martin Bashir would not have been an obvious front-runner for the job but had won it through his journalistic integrity.

“It had been well done and good for the BBC that he had done it.”

Bashir, a former religion editor, left the BBC in April 2021 citing health reasons following having Covid-19-related complications.

The next month, a report by Lord Dyson concluded that the BBC covered up “deceitful behaviour” by Bashir to secure the 1995 interview and led to an apology from the corporation and a promise never to show it again.

The report said Bashir was in “serious breach” of the BBC’s producer guidelines when he faked bank statements and showed them to Earl Spencer, Diana’s brother, to gain access to Diana.

A BBC spokesperson said on Tuesday: “Throughout this process we have taken our responsibilities to comply with the directions of the tribunal extremely seriously.

“Therefore we’ve today released approximately 3,000 documents, some 10,000 pages, to Mr Webb.

BBC Broadcasting House in London (Ian West/PA)

BBC Broadcasting House in London (Ian West/PA)

“This latest disclosure includes many hundreds of pages of duplicates and material that was not related to the 1995 Panorama, but was nevertheless caught by the electronic searches.

“We have made redactions, where necessary, consistent with the Freedom of Information Act.

“There is nothing to support the allegations that the BBC acted in bad faith in 2020 and we maintain this suggestion is simply wrong.

“We have worked to provide relevant material throughout this lengthy process, which has involved extensive archive and record searches spanning nearly 30 years.

“We have also accepted and apologised when errors have been made and taken extensive steps to rectify those errors.

“Further, as has been said many times, far from attempting to conceal or cover up matters, the BBC commissioned Lord Dyson to conduct an independent investigation so that he could gain a full picture of what happened in 1995, including by obtaining any additional materials that people other than the BBC might possess.

“The BBC provided all relevant documentation that was in the BBC’s possession to the Lord Dyson inquiry.

“Other individuals involved in these events also supplied Lord Dyson with written materials, which are detailed in the report.

“This was published in 2021 and the findings accepted in full by the BBC.”

But she’s already carved out her own impressive career in the same industry.

And now, at just 23, Gray is making headlines for another reason – she’s believed to be dating former footballer Romeo, the son of David and Victoria Beckham.

The couple – who first sent romance rumours flying last month – were seen again together getting cosy during a romantic stroll in NYC this week.

Romeo cut a casual figure on the outing wearing baggy jeans, a flat baseball cap and white vest, whilst she turned her top into a crop, wore jeans and shoes.

The pair appeared to be in awe of each other as they both laid a smooch on each other.

But who is this stunning woman, who loves a cheeky naked snap, who seems to be capturing Romeo’s attention?

Here, we take a deep dive into the photographer who loves to bare all.

    Picture perfect

She grew up surrounded by creativity, with her dad being the famous Mario Sorrenti and her mum, Mary Frey, known as an exceptional artist in her own right.

So, it’s no surprise that Gray, who was previously a model, always had one finger ready on the camera button.

Speaking alongside her father to Vogue Magazine back in 2019, she revealed that she grew up in an “artistic universe” and “always knew” that she wanted to be a photographer.

In one naked post, Gray wrote a love letter to New York whilst standing outside in the city.

She wrote: “I can’t love you enough! I don’t know if it’s the way you raised me, or the way I raised you, but we’ve carried each other and now we are here with more than a love but a life.

“Standing here as I did when I came into this world, I feel like you and you feel like me.

“I love you because of how real you are, how much you care, and how the nonsense never fazes you. You are always thinking.

I’m a lover; I was raised in love

    Gray Sorrenti

“Your heart is always beating. You are my first love and you will be my last.”

She continued: “You don’t care if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, because you can handle it and I can handle you! It’s just the New York way.

“Here is a love letter to you, or maybe a thank you for all that you have given me. Just a small piece of our time together.

“But it’ll never be as good as it is in person, when my two dirty sneakers are on your ground and I tell you.”

And it doesn’t stop there with her work.

Gray has also shot Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid for Saint Laurent, and she is well connected with friends like Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

    Wild child

Gray, who’s from New York, has admitted to being a “wild child” and had a passion for riding around the city on street-illegal dirt bikes when she was younger.

She spoke to Robert Cordero at Business of Fashion and revealed that she used to head out on the bikes with one of the cafeteria workers from her Upper West Side private school.

Previously speaking to Elle Magazine in 2018, Gray painted herself as a hopeless romantic.

The footballer, 22, was seen packing on the PDA with American photographer Gray Sorrenti, 23, as they strolled down trendy Soho.

The pair seemed unable to keep their hands off each other as they stopped for a kiss by a tea stall.

Romeo donned a white vest top and jeans, paired with a black baseball cap and matching jumper tied around his neck.

Gray, who has shot campaigns for fashion houses such as Saint Laurent and Loewe, colour matched her man in a white vest and jeans, pulling on a pair of sunglasses to accessorise.

She completed her look with an oversized shirt left open and pulled her brunette locks back with a claw clip.

The couple didn’t appear to care who was watching as they embraced amid throngs of New Yorkers, with Gray wrapping her arms around David and Victoria Beckham’s son’s neck.

They then continued to stroll down the street before meeting up with pals at a cafe.

Gray is the daughter of world-renowned fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti.

Back in 2023, ex Manchester United ace David told how the Spice Girl, 50, will only ever have grilled fish and steamed veg, admitting the one time she did try something else was “one of his favourite evenings.”

Now he has told how she mixes things up with different shellfish and veggies.

David told Rio on his show, Rio Ferdinand Presents: “Victoria always loves, she loves grilled shrimp, so for starter, I’d make her some grilled shrimp with avocado and then for a main I would make a sea bass, but I’d salt bake it.”

Rio then asked: “And then for dessert, what would she have for dessert?”

David added: “I’m not sure she’d have a dessert actually.

“So that’s what I’d make for her and then for me I’d make a nice ragu with fresh pasta.”

Victoria’s dinner preferences have been the subject of much speculation since keen chef David’s confessions.

Discussing his wife’s eating habits on the River Cafe Table 4 podcast in 2022, he explained: “I get quite emotional about food and wine, when I’m eating something great I want everyone to try it.

The devoted husband has “Posh” tattooed on a finger as a nod to wife Victoria Beckham’s Spice Girls nickname.

    Arms

Becks has two sleeve tattoos on both his arms with the centrepieces paying tribute to his marriage to Victoria.

The most famous of his body art comes in the shape of her name along the inside of his forearm, which is inked in Sanskrit.

Both Posh and Becks have Hebrew tattoos, which they got to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary.

The matching tatts translate to, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”.

Meanwhile, Becks also has a separate rose inking on his left arm to mark the couple’s tenth anniversary.

    Neck

One of Beckham’s most famous tattoos is on his neck, which is a gothic style cross and wings.

It is symbolic of to his religion and acts as a protective guardian of his son Romeo, whose name is tattooed just below the angel wings.

Beckham also has the name of his daughter, Harper, on the side of his neck.

This was later updated to include the words “Pretty Lady”, to mark her fourth birthday.

    Back

Beckham’s back tattoos serve as tribute to his sons.

He has angel wings at the top as a sign of protection for them.

Becks has both his eldest on Brooklyn, and his youngest son Cruz’s names inked across his back.

    Body

Beckham has a large chest tattoo that is an image of himself as Jesus, with three cherubs representing his sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz.

The footy ace also has a vertical tattoo down his left side in Chinese symbols – this translates as “Death and life have determined appointments”.

Paying homage to his father, he has an inking of a ship at full mast – which is identical to the same one his dad has.

“My mum used to let me cook with her when I was young.

“And then obviously when I moved to Manchester and I moved in my own house, you know, I cooked. And I love cooking….

“But you know what? I love the cooking side, but I think more importantly, I think when I’ve looked back at why I love it so much, is because I’m creating something for whoever’s going to eat it.”

NO GOING BECK David Beckham imposes strict fashion rule on Lionel Messi and Inter Miami team-mates leaving Rio Ferdinand stunned

DAVID BECKHAM has revealed that he banned Inter Miami stars from posting their outfits on social media before games.

Beckham, 49, became a fashion icon as well as brilliant footballer during his Manchester United days in the 1990s.

The former England captain was never afraid to push the boundaries with his outfits, much to the frustration of then-boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

But as an owner, Becks may have a more similar attitude to Sir Alex than he would have imagined.

During a chat with old team-mate Rio Ferdinand for the former defender’s YouTube channel, the pair discussed the trend of players showing off their outfits in US Sports, particularly basketball.

They then mentioned that Barcelona had done something similar in football, before being banned by boss Hansi Flick.

Despite having been a fashion enthusiast himself, Beckham revealed, to Ferdinand’s shock, that he had taken a similar stance to the German.

He admitted: “Yeah, funnily enough, our team started doing it a couple of times and I stopped that.”

Ferdinand, 45, replied: “The man about fashion. The man who broke down all the barriers…”

Becks then clarified: “Yeah, but we weren’t winning games at that point.”

His pal immediately understood, adding: “That’s the key, see, that’s what I’m like.

“That’s like, if I’m my owner, I don’t wanna see you on social media if we’re seventh or eighth.

“I can’t believe that Mr. Fashion said there’s no fashion going on at my football club.”

While Inter Miami may have been struggling in that period, they have been riding high since the addition of Lionel Messi.

With the Argentine’s former Barca pals Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba having also joined, they currently sit top of MLS’ Eastern Conference.

Following Beckham’s 2003 Man Utd exit, Ferguson claimed that the midfielder had become “distracted” after meeting future wife Victoria – with “this fashion thing” also getting in his way.

The Scot told Sports Illustrated: “He was blessed with great stamina, the best of all the players I’ve had here.

“After training he’d always be practising, practising, practising.

“But his life changed when he met his wife. She’s in pop and David got another image. He’s developed this ‘fashion thing’. I saw his transition to a different person.”
