Stacey Solomon issued an emotional update over a week after revealing her family pet dog, Teddy, had all of a sudden taken ill and needed to be rushed to the vets

Stacey Solomon issued a heartfelt update on her pet pooch Teddy after revealing the animal had fallen ill last week. The reality TV star, 35, took to her Instagram Stories to share the latest on the canine’s health after worrying fans last week.

The Loose Women panelist had told followers her and her five children were “truly devastated” last week with the news Teddy “might not ever fully recover” from his condition. They hadn’t been aware of the animal’s condition when they rescued him, but Stacey had admitted the “next 3-4 days are crucial” when breaking the news last week.

Now, over a week later she has apologised for her delayed update. She revealed how Teddy “lost the use of his back legs” on Good Friday, leaving the family in turmoil. She admitted he had shown no signs of pain before the scary incident.

She went on to say the dog had suffered a burst disc, saying vets described how “all of his spine is not looking good at all” with all of the discs looking “really worn”.

As she began to open up fully on events, Stacey emotionally said: “He is home. I got to bring him home last week so he made it through the operation and through the period of time where it was the highest risk following the operation and I got to bring him home.”

Apologising again for her lack of activity, Stacey went on: “I’ve been trying to get me head around things and also I’m not a good crier.

“I’m not a good in-person crier. Like I hate crying in front of people. I just know if I’d have come on I would have cried. I’ve cried a lot.”

Explaining how she had kept herself away from everyone, she added she is “so grateful” Teddy is home. Despite being able to bring her pet home, Stacey revealed she’s “really not well still”.

She continued: “I have moved my work to work from home and cancelled some things so that I can try and help him recover. I do physio with him every day and I have to express his bladder throughout the day. And he’s on medication.”

Expressing his bladder has been “a whole humbling experience,” Stacey admitted. “That has made me cry on a number of occasions because I just felt like I was s*** and doing a s**** job for Teddy and being a really s*** dog mum.”

Stacey revealed her dog is on crate rest for at least four weeks following the major surgery. She teared up again as she explained “this might be Teddy forever” if the animal doesn’t fully recover.

She admitted the family is now taking every day is it comes, with Teddy’s future still in the balance. “We just need to see how it goes from here,” she said.

“There is like a 30 per cent chance he might recover fully but there’s also a massive chance that he’s going to be disabled and unable to urinate for himself and involuntary poos and will need a lot of physio and help for the rest of his life.”

Dancing On Ice star Colin Grafton has revealed he was close to pulling out of the last series of the ITV show following The Vivienne’s death. The ice skater was partnered with the late RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star on his first season of the show in 2023.

They made show history together and became incredibly close friends. Colin was left devastated in January, just days before the start of the 2025 series, following the news of The Vivienne’s death.

The Vivienne, real name James Lee Williams, was found dead at home i n Cheshire, on January 5 after taking ketamine at the age of 32. The family revealed in March that the drag queen died “from the effects of ketamine use causing a cardiac arrest”, to raise awareness.

Since the news of Dancing On Ice’s axe, Colin has taken some time away from the spotlight to spend time with family and friends. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, he admitted it was “much needed” before returning to work for an ice skating show in Mexico.

Deatiling his favourite memory on the ITV show, Colin told us: “I think my year with The Vivienne was obviously so special because that was my first year on the show.

“Obviously very sad of passing, so that’s another reason I had to take some time after the show just to process as I had no time during the show. That whole season for me was just very special.”

Colin almost didn’t take part in the latest series of Dancing On Ice with the Traitors star Mollie Pearce despite their months of training.

“It was really tricky for me to get my head in the right place to do the series,” he admitted. “I actually had a lot of thought of if I was going to do it or not. My partner Mollie was just so fantastic and was there for me along with the other pros and everybody really.

“It was very challenging, but at the same time… Mollie and I had put in so much work and I know that’s what Viv would have wanted me to do. Go out there and show everybody our hard work and that’s how we did it.”

Colin made sure to pay a touching tribute to The Vivienne, which may have been missed by some viewers. He re-wore The Vivienne’s final outfit from their series together after the costume team kept it back.

At the time Colin told his fans: “Tonight was extra special. Thank you to you all for voting. This was The Vivienne’s’ last costume on our season of Dancing on Ice and it felt so special to wear it tonight, she was with me.”

Revealing how it came about, Colin said: “The wardrobe team were so sweet and they were like ‘if you want to wear this, it’s yours to wear’. I was able to wear it and I got to keep it, so I have it now.”

He also opened up as to what it felt like to wear the outfit as he added: “I was expecting to feel quite emotional, but instead I felt really powerful. I just felt like she was there and it was wonderful. It was really, really nice. It was a really great feeling.”

It doesn’t look like Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri will be reuniting anytime soon. In the wake of Strictly Come Dancing star Tasha opening up about their recent split, estate agent Andrew has taken action online and revealed that he is “moving on.”

The former couple won hearts as contestants on Love Island in 2022 but were pipped to the post by winners Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. However, their journey did not end at the finale; they left hand-in-hand, with their love story captivating viewers as it seemingly grew stronger day by day.

By 2024, their bond seemed unshakeable, with Andrew being Tasha’s biggest cheerleader while she competed on Strictly alongside Aljaž Škorjanec, jiving all the way to the final. The tale took an unexpected turn though, when Tasha and Andrew called it quits in February 2025 amid the whirlwind Strictly Live tour.

During a Q&A with fans, Andrew answered one follower questioning the “different negative narratives” around the relationship breakdown. “Let’s just say I’ve had to bite my tongue with all of it. Truth always comes out at some point right?” Andrew answered.

Referencing Tasha’s new book, other fans asked if Andrew will start a podcast to shared his side of the story. “To be honest it’s not my thing,” Andrew responded with. “We’re done and I’m moving on.”

Despite portraying a united front throughout Strictly’s challenging weeks, Tasha and Andrew were battling issues away from the spotlight. Tasha spills the tea in her forthcoming memoir, Your Superpower, attributing the stringent demands of Strictly to the unravelling of their fairytale romance.

In her new book, Tasha writes: “It’s a long process, but it’s really about having people out there, in other people to help them find their self-confidence with their disability. I knew deep down it wasn’t right. There were a lot of tears and it was a really hard time. Andrew was the man I was going to marry. We had discussed having children.”

The bombshell dropped just weeks after Tasha’s candid chat with the Mirror about her breakup. Spilling the beans on her fresh start in a new home post-split, Tasha shared with us: “It’s a new chapter. It’s a new beginning and it’s all about embracing that and that’s what life is about.”

This followed her clapback at rumours swirling around her split from Andrew, where she clarified on TikTok: “No, I ended the relationship. there was many things behind closed doors.”

Tasha and Andrew’s relationship came to an end in February, with sources revealing they decided to part ways after a two-and-a-half-year romance. An insider spilled to The Sun: “Tasha was madly in love with Andrew but the cracks started to show when she appeared on Strictly.

The late Queen Elizabeth II, who lived until 96, enjoyed a healthy lifestyle, so we had a look at her most favourite two-ingredient lunch, which featured one of the globe’s healthiest vegetables.

While she was never much of a foodie, it’s been suggested that this meal played a part in her radiant and vigorous appearance throughout her 90’s. While many in Britain might lean towards carb-heavy options like pasta for lunch, the Queen favoured lighter, more wholesome midday meals, as disclosed by former royal chefs.

The simple dish is one anyone could easily make – and is packed with health benefits and nutrients.

Her lunchtime choice often included grilled Dover sole atop a bed of wilted spinach or courgette. Darren McGrady, who had the privilege of cooking for royalty, noted: “But the Queen never was a foodie. She always ate to live rather than live to eat. Prince Philip was the foodie.

“He’d want to try any new dishes all the time and got excited about new ingredients, whereas the Queen, if we had a new recipe, she’d have to look at the whole recipe before saying, ‘Yes ok let’s try it’. But for the most part she stuck to the same dishes week in week out.”

During his four-year tenure at Kensington Palace, Darren observed that Queen Elizabeth had a fondness for fillet steak with a mushroom whiskey sauce for dinner, particularly when paired with venison, the chef elaborated.

Her choice of lunch, Grilled Dover sole on a bed of wilted spinach, is not only low in fat but also rich in protein and packed with nutrients such as vitamin D and B-12. Darren also shared on his website: “Queen Elizabeth enjoyed new potatoes and spinach with her fish.”

Having established the late Queen’s preference for spinach, it’s worth exploring why this leafy green is considered so beneficial. The BBC compiled a list of the world’s top 100 healthiest foods, ranking frozen spinach at number 24.

Spinach contains magnesium, folate, vitamin A, beta carotene, and zeaxanthin, with freezing acting to preserve these valuable nutrients. Surrey Live reports that spinach is also abundant in vitamin K, which is essential for bone health and blood clotting, as well as vitamin A, vital for vision and immune function.

Contrary to what many might think, fresh spinach isn’t always superior; nutrients can diminish during transport and storage, as found by research from Pennsylvania State University. Another study revealed that spinach could lose up to 75% of its vitamin C within a week, hence the practice of freezing it soon after harvest to retain its nutritional value.

Tim Spector, professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London and co-founder of the health app Zoe, has even cautioned his Instagram followers against being “snobs” about frozen food.

He mentioned: “Like me, you probably always thought that fresh food is always the best option. Don’t be a snob when it comes to frozen foods or canned foods that can often be lifesavers.”

He further explained: “An example here is frozen spinach, and actually the freezing process and the way it’s packed up means that those nutrients in spinach are perfectly preserved, so you don’t lose anything from buying the fresh product.”

The mild taste and rich vitamin content of spinach make it an excellent addition to smoothies, and it’s also great in omelettes. What’s more, not only is frozen spinach more nutritious than its fresh counterpart, but it’s also more economical and has a longer shelf life. A cube of frozen spinach can be easily included in numerous other recipes like frittatas or quiches.

Benefits of grilled Dover sole

Grilled Dover sole is recognised for being a nutrient-dense flatfish with an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids. Expert nutritionist Dominique Ludwig, who studied at King’s College London, emphasises how crucial omega-3 fats from fish are for maintaining a healthy brain and heart.

In particular, Dover sole is touted by the Nutrition And You website as one of the most calorie-efficient flatfish available and heralded as an “excellent” source of essential fatty acids.

Research from Cornell University and the New York Sea Grant Extension Program has underscored the vital role of essential fatty acids in maintaining cardiovascular health. These nutrients are key in reducing blood pressure, heart rate, and the risk of arrhythmias.

In addition, findings from the GISSI Prevention Trial suggest that including omega-3 fatty acids in an adult’s daily diet can significantly decrease the likelihood of experiencing recurrent heart attacks, strokes, or sudden death.

The late monarch would have turned 99 on April 21, and floods of tributes from royal enthusiasts were shared online. Commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth II, one individual shared on X: “Today we remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on what would have been her 99th birthday. The greatest women to walk the earth. Serving the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth her whole life.”

Another person reflected: “Remembering Elizabeth II who was born 99 years ago today. It’s always sad when good people go – even at 96, like the Queen, or 88 like Pope Francis – who both continued to give service until the very end of their lives, driven by duty and sustained by deep faith.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales will next week mark an incredible milestone in their relationship – 14 years of marriage – and this year’s anniversary will be ‘even more important’ following last year’s trauma

The Prince and Princess of Wales have faced a brutal 12 months that would have rocked the foundations of any solid marriage. But with Kate now in remission following her devastating cancer diagnosis last year and gradually returning to royal duties, things are certainly looking much brighter for her and husband Prince William, who has been her constant support.

Next week they will mark a happy milestone in their stronger-than-ever relationship – 14 years of marriage with a two-day trip to the stunning Isle of Mull, where they will stay in a self-catering cottage and carry out a string of engagements. In recent years, they’ve also had to deal with the fallout of Prince Harry and Meghan dramatically quitting their royal roles as well as getting to grips with their increasing royal duties as Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of the late Queen.

They also have to finely balance this with raising their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – and being hands-on parents doing the school run and ferrying the youngsters around to their various activities and after-school sports clubs.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has delved inside their marriage to work out exactly what it is that makes their union a special one. And she exclusively reveals exactly what has allowed them to navigate stormy waters – and now appear to be even stronger than ever.

She explains: “Their first anniversary after Catherine’s official remission has to be that extra bit special. Every milestone takes them that little bit further away from the dreadful day when she was diagnosed with cancer. After his mother died, William said he knew it would make or break him and he refused to let it break him.

“I think they have both taken a similar attitude to dealing with the brutal year they have just endured. Their marriage is, I think, even stronger than before, and it was already a roaring success. I think they like each other. A lot. And that’s a whole different thing to loving one another -which, incidentally, they also do. A lot.

“What makes it work? I think theirs is a pretty equal partnership. William is a much more hands-on dad than his father or grandfather. And I don’t think Catherine would let him get away with anything less.

“They operate as a partnership and they have such a deep understanding of one another that they can communicate when they are out and about with just a look or a gesture. They seem sometimes to have private jokes that make them smile or nudge one another.

“I do think that Catherine’s parents and the King must be delighted that the marriage has worked out so well. It’s important for the monarchy that it works, but, on a human level, it is so comforting for the Middletons and for the King to know that William and Catherine are such a strong unit and seem able to deal with pretty much anything that life throws at them.”

The couple’s love story stretches more than 14 years, right back to 2001 when they met as students at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. As freshers, both lived on campus in St Salvator’s hall of residence, before going on to share a two-storey house with friends. And it was during this time that the pair fell for one another with the slow burn of William and Kate’s early romance credited for being the key to their longevity.

However, it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the couple. In 2007, after they graduated from university, they briefly split as William entered Army training and Kate started work as a buyer at fashion chain Jigsaw and they figured out what they wanted from life.

But their time apart was short-lived as just months after it emerged they were no longer together, they rekindled their romance with some believing the split reinforced their true feelings for each other. At the time of their engagement, even Kate confided that while she wasn’t very happy about it”, she believes the experience made her a “stronger person”.

“You know, over the years William has looked after me, he’s treated me very well – as the loving boyfriend he is, he is very supportive of me through the good times and through the bad times,” Kate later remarked.

After marrying in a grand wedding at Westminster Abbey, Kate began her life of royal duties consisting of high-profile public engagements, prestigious state events and at times, gruelling overseas tours. In the early days of their marriage, the couple kept public displays of affection to a minimum, despite Kate once remarking how “hugs were important”. But fast-forward 14 years, joint outings often consist of tender touches, loving glances at each other and even sweet hand-holding.

Last year, the couple laid bare their affectionate nature in a highly personal video to announce the end of Kate’s cancer treatment, which saw William tenderly embracing his wife in a cuddle on the beach and placing a kiss on her. Earlier this year, the pair also posted a clip on their own social media accounts of them walking hand-in-hand through a railway station ready to catch the train home after a busy day of engagements in Wales.

“I think this gives us all the chance to see first-hand that theirs is a true love match, built on the strongest of all foundations: friendship and the shared experience of university life,” says Jennie.

“Cancer must make you realise that life is short and is for living and loving. If they feel like touching or holding hands when they are in public, then why the hell not? I think everyone loves to see how strong their marriage is, and even more so after the trauma of the past year or so.”

Another thing they can also count on, especially during their public life, is their shared cheeky sense of humour and competitive nature. Kate is often seen laughing at her husband’s witty quips with the pair regularly heard gently teasing each other.

At the recent Six Nations rugby match between Wales and England in Cardiff, which the royal couple attended, their mischievous facial expressions were on show for all to see as they cheered on their opposing teams.

The actual day of their 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday falls on a school day so any celebrations William and Kate have planned will have to fit in around the school run, after-school clubs and homework. But even if celebrations are muted, Jennie predicts Kate could still be in store for a special gift.

She explains: “Traditionally ivory was the gift for the 14th wedding anniversary but obviously that’s illegal these days. Instead, people sometimes take an elephant theme – and that would be very much in keeping with William’s conservation work with the elephant trust Tusk. And, since ivory was banned, people have also chosen gold to replace it on the 14th anniversary. So maybe a beautiful golden elephant necklace or pair of elephant earrings might do the job!”

As their marriage continues, there will no doubt be more hurdles in the future for them to face. In the short term, they have a big joint decision to make over where their eldest child and heir to the throne Prince George should go to school once he turns 13 next year.

Their other pressing responsibilities include their charitable work with the causes close to their hearts, such as William’s ambitious campaign to end homelessness with his Homewards project and Kate’s desire to highlight the importance of a child’s early years – not to mention William’s growing expectations as heir to the throne. Just yesterday, he attended the funeral of Pope Francis on behalf of his father.

“It’s all very well thinking that Catherine has hit the jackpot by marrying a prince and future king”, explains Jennie. “But becoming a senior royal and one day Queen is a truly extraordinary role to take on and could be a lonely and bewildering one. William, I think, has helped her grow into the role, and I think he is forever grateful that she has been willing to take it on and to give him three gorgeous children whom they both adore and the security of a happy family life which he, sadly, never knew.”

However, another huge test will come with their ultimate destiny – becoming King and Queen. All of his life, Willliam has known that the role as head of state will be in store for him, and 14 years ago on their wedding day, Kate’s future life was also sealed.

The cancer diagnosis of William’s father the King and his ongoing treatment will no doubt also play on their minds and what this could mean for the future. But Jennie adds: “Together they are facing the challenge of becoming King and Queen, possibly rather earlier than anticipated, given the King’s cancer. That must weigh heavily on them, but, together, they are strong.”

A BBC star has candidly opened up about their 32 year old health battle, as Naga Munchetty, who hosts BBC Breakfast, has shared her anger over being made to ‘second guess’ her pain

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty has revealed sterilisation was her ‘only option’ after suffering in pain with a debilitating health condition for 32 years.

Naga, 50, has previously revealed her painful health battle, which reached a crisis point when the agony became so intense that she had to call an ambulance. Naga was diagnosed with adenomyosis in 2022, but had been struggling with pain for years before. She later revealed her condition after she was forced to take time off due to the condition.

Adenomyosis, which affects around one in 10 women in the UK, is a condition where “the lining of the womb (uterus) starts growing into the muscle in the wall of the womb. There are treatments that can help with any symptoms”, the NHS states.

The TV star explained: “I knew I didn’t want children and I didn’t want to be reliant on hormones or the regimen of the pill because it didn’t fit with my lifestyle.

“It felt like it was my only option,” Naga candidly revealed. The TV star, who’s new book It’s Probably Nothing is due for release on May 8, shared how she was on the receiving end of cruel comments about her choice not to have children. Naga said: “here were even people who said, ‘Oh, they haven’t chosen not to have children, there are fertility problems’,” before she added that people ‘couldn’t accept’ she and her husband James Haggar had ‘chosen not to have children’.

Naga previously revealed her symptoms in a previous interview with The Times in which she said: “[A normal period] It’s not throwing up. It’s not diarrhoea. It’s not hugging a toilet and crying because you’re sweating through pain, fainting, cramped over, loading yourself up with painkillers way more than you should be, from the age of 15.”

Naga first brought her struggle with this debilitating gynaecological condition to light during a segment on BBC Radio 5 Live in 2023, even admitting to enduring pain while on air, reports the Express.

Naga began her illustrious broadcasting career as a reporter on Reuters Financial Television. Since then, she has continued to ascend the ranks, securing roles on CNBC, Channel 4 and now the BBC where she is one of the most recognisable faces.

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes’ unconventional relationship had tongues wagging since they entered the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this month. The final aired on Friday and the duo both spoke about their special bond, with JoJo revealing they had plans to hang out on Sunday.

While in the house, JoJo and Chris divided fans with their affection. They were seen cuddling in bed, giving each other massages, embracing in the hot tub, and being glued to each other’s sides throughout the entire experiment. It got to the point where other celebrities nominated Chris as they felt he was isolated from them due to his intense friendship with JoJo.

In a photo posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, a fan snapped a photo of JoJo, 21, and Chris, 32, at a tennis club together. The pair smiled on the sunny outing, while making their way through the restaurant area of the fancy club.

Later on Sunday, Chris introduced JoJo to his friends. The pair were tagged in a photo on Instagram by one of Chris’ close friends as they were seen sitting side by side in a pub surrounded by all of Chris’ good friends.

“Band back together,” he wrote alongside the snap. JoJo beamed in the photo alongside Chris as she enjoyed some quality time with his loved ones

Meanwhile, JoJo broke her silence on Instagram by re-posting Chesney Hawkes’ photo with her and Chris. In a hint that they could be “just friends”, she captioned the post: “The boyyyssss!!!” along with a heart emoji.

She’s spent the last few days hanging out with Chris despite her relationship with Kath Ebbs ending on Friday night.

Kath, 27, flew over to London to join JoJo after she won third place on the ITV show, and opted to see her later in the day rather than being there to meet her as soon as she left the house. Things didn’t go to plan – while Kath wanted to talk through what they saw on screen, the Aussie podcaster said that JoJo ended things during the afterparty.

The TV presenter shared a long video on Instagram after the event, saying in part: “The story goes right now in the last eight hours or whatever, I flew here and I went to the live show to show up for my partner and support them in their experience and then later on address my feelings of hurt and work through them like all relationships do…

“But before I could get back to the hotel, it is actually crazy, I went to the after party with my now ex – crazy thing to say – and I was dumped in the after party.”

Meghan Markle has shared a rare video of her daughter, Lilibet, who can be seen seen in the clip on Instagram making jam with her mum. The mum-of-two, 43, posted several clips of the pair cooking together as she asks her daughter: “What do we think Lili?” To which the youngster replies “I think it’s beautiful”.

Fans loved hearing the three-year-old’s adorable American accent as Meghan showed a peek of the tot’s hand while Lilibet helped her mum make the As Ever posh preserve, which the former Suits star has been promoting in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. After letting the strawberries simmer for a while, the Duchess decants them into glass pots, before she shares another clip of herself preparing dinner.

Meghan’s clip of Lilibet comes as the Duchess launched her much-hyped line of culinary delights under her brand As Ever which includes £11 jars of jam and £22 pots of limited edition honey. The brand’s launch was a success as the products sold out within minutes of the highly-anticipated launch.

In another video on Instagram, Meghan shared a montage of carefully curated carrots and flowers, which she captioned “cosy family weekends”.

She also shared a video of her son, Archie, five, feeding koi carp fish on the platform. While his face can’t be seen, the youngster’s US accent can be heard, like his sister’s, as he talks excitedly with his proud mum.

In the background, Archie can be heard saying: “Mummy watch this!”, much to the delight of Meghan’s fans, who praised the Duchess for ‘bringing up her children so well’.

The mum-of-two has more been open with sharing snaps of her children this year, with Lilibet being seen in a video on a playdate with Serena Williams, as well as baking cookies for Drew Barrymore.

Meghan and Harry were also seen hugging their children as they cement themselves in the US after leaving the UK when they quit their role as senior members of the Royal Family.

However, the couple are also fiercely protective of Lilibet and Archie and have petitioned for the laws around social media and children to be tightened.

The proud parents have called for better protection for children using social media platforms, declaring, “enough is not being done”.

Last week, alongside their Archewell Foundation, Meghan and Harry unveiled a poignant memorial in New York City. The installation, which has been named The Lost Screen Memorial, honours children who have died due to the dangers of social media.

The heartbreaking installation, which was available to view for 24 hours, was made up of 50 smartphones, each one of which displayed a lock screen photograph of a child, who has sadly lost their life.

The poignant pictures were shared by the children’s parents, who are part of the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Network, in a bid to raise awareness of the need for greater online safety measures.

He continued: “The easiest thing to say is to keep your kids away from social media. The sad reality is the kids who aren’t on social media normally get bullied at school because they can’t be part of the same conversation as everybody else.”

Gene Hackman’s official cause of death has been revealed – two months after his death. Gene died at the age of 95 at his mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was found on February 26 alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa, who was just 65.

A caretaker at the property was the one to sound the alarm on that day, calling responders when he spotted a woman laying on the floor as he looked through a window into the property. Betsy was ruled to have died around a week before her husband, who may not have been aware of her death due to his progressed Alzheimer’s disease.

Official documents state: “Autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with placement of coronary artery stents and a bypass graft, as well as a previous aortic valve replacement.”

The statement continued: “Remote myocardial infarctions were present involving the left ventricular free wall and the septum, which were significantly large. Examination of the brain showed microscopic findings of advanced stage Alzheimer’s disease.”

A full autopsy into Gene Hackman’s death has confirmed that he didn’t die from the same illness as his wife Betsy Arakawa

The medical examiner noted that Gene had a “history of congestive heart failure” and had a “bi-ventricular pacemaker” placed in April 2019, while adding that he had acetone levels at 5.3 mg/dl, with normal levels rising to only 0.3 mg/dL, according to Fox News.

The toxicology report suggested that acetone is “also a product of diabetic- and fasting-induced ketoacidosis as well as a metabolite following isopropanol ingestion,” and concluded that Gene’s levels may have suggested prolonged fasting.

Examinations also confirmed that carbon monoxide levels were in the normal range, after the actor’s family immediately assumed that a gas leak was likely responsible for his and Betsy’s deaths. Alongside ruling out carbon monoxide poisoning, the examiner also confirmed that Gene didn’t die of the same illness that killed his wife; hantavirus.

It was previously concluded that Betsy had died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome; a rare condition spread via rodent droppings and urine.

Gene and Betsy lived in a home they designed together in Santa Fe, and it’s thought that the state of the house may have tragically led to Betsy’s early death. One week after the discovery of Gene and Betsy’s bodies, the New Mexico Department of Public Health carried out a full inspection of the property and found it in a harrowing condition.

Rodents and mess had overtaken the mansion that had once appeared in the Architectural Digest, with one source who entered the home describing it as a “mess.”

“The inside of the house was shocking,” they said. “They didn’t have a housekeeper or a maid, so it had beautiful things – furniture and paintings – but there was dog poop on the floor. The inside of the house was bad. Nothing had been dusted. There was nothing in the fridge.”

However, despite the tragic circumstances of their last days together, discoveries within the house paint a picture of a devoted, loving couple up until the end. Love notes were found in the mansion, with the couple having been communicating back and forth with touching handwritten messages. Gene and Betsy got married in 1991, and the actor movingly signed off his notes to his wife with: “Love, G.”
