Meghan Markle and Prince Harry cosy up over champagne in affectionate Invictus display

The loved-up Sussexes seem to be sending a clear message to the world during their time in Vancouver – and it’s being seen as their way of hitting back at the US President

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have appeared happier than ever since heading to Canada for the start of the Invictus Games.

Candid new photos taken in Vancouver show the couple beaming from ear-to-ear with Meghan, dressed all in black, sitting holding her husband’s hand, with a glass of champagne placed in front of her. Harry mirrors her big smile as they watch the on-court action in front of them.

In another snap, believed to have been taken by a spectator, the Duke and Duchess are seen cheek-to-cheek as Harry has his arm around his wife as they remain seated.

It comes after Harry showed his very goofy side on Sunday during a half-time interval at the final of a wheelchair basketball event. The Duke took part in ‘Moose Cam’, which encourages spectators to smile at the camera, poke out their tongue, and waggle their hands by the side of their heads.

As Harry duly obliged, there were big cheers from the crowd as his face appeared on a giant TV screen. Meghan, meanwhile, resisted adopting the moose pose but roared with laughter as she looked at her husband, who was clearly enjoying seeing himself on the giant screen.

According to the Mail , the couple left the match at half time with sources at the games stating they were tired after a full day of events, talking to friends and family of the competitors and posing for dozens of selfies.

Harry and Meghan’s united front comes after President Donald Trump described Meghan as ‘terrible’ when asked about Harry visa issues. Trump told the New York Post: “I don’t want to [deport Harry]. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

But Harry appeared to hit back during the Invictus Games opening event at the weekend. Addressing the 40,000-strong audience, he commented: “At this moment, when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world , the values you embody, the way you carry yourselves – not only at the Invictus Games, but each and every day – your courage, your resilience, your humanity, illuminate a path forward for us all.”

The funny footage was posted on Instagram by Meghan – much to the delight of the couple’s fans.

The Sussexes have been putting on a seriously loved up display in Canada, with cameras focused on them as they kissed and cuddled during the opening ceremony to the sporting event in Vancouver on Saturday.

  • Meghan Markle ‘wanted to be a part-time Diana’ before leaving the Firm, book claims

Meghan Markle ‘wanted to be a part-time Diana’ before leaving the Firm, book claims

An explosive new royal book has claimed that when Meghan joined the House of Windsor, she ‘wanted to be a part-time Princess Diana’ and finish the work her late mother-in-law had started

When Meghan Markle first joined the Royal Family, she wanted to use the late Princess Diana as a template for her approach to her duties, but on a part-time basis, a royal author has claimed.

Tom Quinn’s upcoming, explosive new book – Yes Ma’am, seen by the Mirror – includes exclusive insight from insiders about how Meghan hoped to approach her position as a working royal before she and Harry decided to call it quits and leave life in the UK behind

Members of staff for Meghan and Harry revealed to the author that Princess Diana was a big inspiration for Meghan when she entered into royal life and that Meghan said she wanted to “finish” what her late mother-in-law “started”. They also noted that the Duchess of Sussex really would have preferred to undertake their royal duties only on a part-time basis – something that both Harry and Meghan have said themselves.

“Meghan once said, ‘What Diana started I want to finish,’ and we took that to mean she wanted to become a sort of globetrotting champion of the poor and the marginalised,” the insider claimed.

“She has managed to do this to some extent, but she really wanted to do it as a princess and with the full backing of the royal family but on a part-time basis,” they added.

Harry and Meghan have both made it clear that they always wanted to keep representing the crown in some capacity, but it was decided at the Sandringham Summit in 2020 that this wouldn’t be possible.

When the couple released their shock statement in January 2020 that they wanted to stop being full-time working royals, they said they wanted to “carve out a progressive new role” and gain “financial independence”.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” the statement said.

Harry also made it clear in his memoir Spare that the couple would have preferred a part-time role within the institution, but claimed that for the senior courtiers who were working for his late grandmother at the time would never have been prepared to accept that, and in fact had already prepared a statement announcing a full break before the summit had even concluded.

King Charles gives pensioner special gift as he lets those in need stay at his palace

King Charles has helped one pensioner celebrate a birthday the man will never forget during his ‘Winter warmer’ sessions at Highgrove House – and the 83-year-old said it was ‘really something special’

For the third year running, King Charles has opened up his private residence of Highgrove House and Gardens for elderly people from the local area to enjoy some socialisation, a delicious meal, and a warm space – entirely for free.

The ‘Winter Warmer’ sessions began in 2023 and saw Charles open up Dumfries House and the Castle of Mey, alongside his main private home of Highgrove to local pensioners and vulnerable people. A recent session at Highgrove Gardens saw one man, Eoin Down, celebrate his 83rd birthday in serious style, a day that he said was “really something special”.

According to ITV, Eoin was presented with a special gift from Highgrove – a handcrafted leather keyring – and all the attendees enjoying the warm session in the cafe sang ‘Happy Birthday’ before he blew out his candle and enjoyed a delicious-looking piece of cake. “It’s something I didn’t expect,” Eoin told Good Morning Britain, “and it’s really something special.”

Eoin, who hails originally from the Highlands of Scotland, looked visibly emotional as he talked about the unforgettable birthday treat at the King’s home. But Eoin wasn’t the only elderly person who seemed to enjoy their day at Highgrove, which provided them all warm space to spend time, activities aimed to encourage making friendships and combat loneliness among the elderly, and, of course, food prepared by royal chefs.

The Director of Highgrove – Constantine Innemee – told Good Morning Britain about the programme run through the King’s Foundation: “This is all about us opening this space here without any questions asked. It’s just a nice comfortable afternoon to come and join us as one of our guests.”

He has said previously, according to the King’s Foundation website, “At The King’s Foundation we aim to build sustainable communities and transform lives through education and health and wellbeing programmes, so it’s fantastic that the Winter Warmers initiative is becoming a staple in contributing to that mission.”

The programme runs every January to March and sees hot soup and drinks provided to attendees, who can try their hand at crafts like knitting, or indulge their competitive streak with a good board game.

Other attendees told Good Morning Britain how much they appreciated the warm space, which enabled them to minimise their costly heating bills at home. “Unfortunately I was one of the people that lost their heating allowance this year,” said Teresa Mary Triggs, “I’ve had to use all my savings, I also have to have care, that all has to be paid for.”

  • Meghan Markle’s engagement ring transformation and staggering cost of tweaks

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring transformation and staggering cost of tweaks

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has upgraded her engagement ring, which was made from diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection, three times since Harry popped the question back in 2017

Meghan Markle is embarking on a brand-new chapter as she’s poised to launch two major new projects in the coming weeks.

Her highly anticipated cooking show, With Love Meghan, will drop on 4 March. But that isn’t the only deal she’s got brewing with Netflix, as she’s also partnered up with the streaming giant to launch her new lifestyle company, As Ever.

Originally launched last year as American Riviera Orchard, Meghan announced in a video posted to her Instagram this week that she has switched up the name of the company in a huge U-turn. And she also revealed that her products are due to be sold in Netflix’s new brick-and-mortar stores – Netflix House – which will sell merchandise of many of their hit shows.

Since Meghan first appeared in public wearing her ring after Prince Harry popped the question back in 2017, eagle-eyed royal fans have spotted tweaks to the gorgeous piece of jewellery on more than one occasion, and an expert has weighed in on just why Meghan has repeatedly opted to upgrade, and how much it may have cost.

Initially, when Meghan debuted her ring it featured a massive cushion cut diamond as the centre piece, which experts estimated to be worth £120,000. This main stone was from Botswana, where the couple had one of their first dates, and so had a massive sentimental meaning for the pair.

It was flanked by two smaller diamonds, both from the late Princess Diana’s collection, adding to the emotional meaning behind the ring, and set on a timeless yellow gold band. These classic design points came together to create a ring perfectly fit for a newly minted member of the Royal Family. However, just two years later in 2019, Meghan’s ring got its first upgrade, marking the birth of Prince Archie, the couple’s first child.

The redesign was reportedly undertaken by Lorraine Schwarz and replaced the gold band with a diamond pavé band, giving the piece a more modern feel. The glittering new band was also more slim line and saw Meghan transform it into a kind of stacking ring, which was seriously on-trend. She also added another sweet ring to her finger at the same time, which included her, Harry, and Archie’s birthstones.

In 2022, Meghan’s ring underwent another serious upgrade. Expert Neil Dutta, of engagement ring specialists Angelic Diamonds, said: “In 2022, we saw another subtle yet impactful change to Meghan’s ring. Additional diamonds were added to the central stone setting, debuting at the Invictus Games in The Hague. This enhancement likely boosted the ring’s value to approximately £250,000

“The additional diamonds serve to amplify the ring’s overall brilliance, drawing more attention to the centre stone. This could be seen as a metaphor for Meghan and Harry’s increased focus on their personal projects and charitable endeavours post-royal life.

“Interestingly, the Invictus Games hold special significance for the couple – it’s where they made their first public appearance together in 2017. The ring’s upgrade at this event seems to celebrate their journey together and their shared commitment to causes close to their hearts.”

Most recently, in the trailer for Meghan’s new show, another tweak was spotted, bringing the reported cost of all these adjustments to £130,000. “The most recent iteration of Meghan’s engagement ring glimpsed in the Netflix trailer, showcases what appears to be an emerald-cut centre stone,” the expert noted. “This is a significant departure from the original cushion-cut diamond, reflecting a more contemporary aesthetic.

Most recently, in 2025, fans spotted the ring had been upgraded again
    Image:
Meghan/Instagram)“Emerald-cut diamonds are known for their elegant, step-cut facets and elongated shape. This change could potentially increase the ring’s value to around £300,000 ($370,000). The new cut offers a sleeker, more modern look that aligns beautifully with Meghan’s evolving style and public persona.

“But what’s particularly interesting is how this change symbolises Meghan’s transformation from royal life to her current role in a myriad of things. The emerald cut is often associated with confidence and clarity – qualities Meghan may feel she has since leaving the royal family.”

Overall, the expert noted that a kind of evolution in Meghan’s style and personal journey could perhaps be tracked through her ring upgrades, noting that while the “original design beautifully encapsulated the fairy-tale nature of their royal romance” her more recent design choices indicated changing priorities.

TV star Richard Coles has teased a new career venture alongside GK Barry following their stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The 62-year-old formed a sweet bond with GK, whose real name is Grace Keeling, in the Australian jungle as they participated in this year’s gruesome show. But while appearing on Tuesday’s Loose Women, Richard seemed to suggest he wouldn’t mind getting involved in another tough reality series with Grace.

Reuniting with Loose Women star Grace on the panel, Richard was asked by presenter Charlene White if they plan to work together again. Richard said: “Yeah, I think so; I mean the SAS thing, you and me probably.”

Surprised, Grace replied: “Wow! Can you imagine?”

  • Coronation Street brings back huge character seven years on from their exit from ITV soap

Coronation Street brings back huge character seven years on from their exit from ITV soap

Coronation Street is reportedly bringing back an icon after they departed seven years ago. They’re expected to be on screens later this year

Coronation Street is reportedly bringing back a soap legend after seven years away.

It has been reported Catherine Tyldesley, 41, will be coming back as Eva Price, with the star expected to appear on our screens later this year. Catherine Tyldesley played Eva Price in the ITV soap from 2011 to 2018, taking a brief break back in 2015 when she was pregnant with her first child.

She departed the role back in 2018 when she decided to pursue new opportunities in her career. In her final scenes, Eva decided to go with baby Susie to France, before returning just a few days later for Aidan’s inquest. Adam – who had initially gone with her – changed his mind and decided to stay, whilst Eva made amends with Johnny, Leanne and Toyah before she departed the Cobbles in the back of a taxi and seemingly left for good.

Just last year, Catherine teased her possible return during an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain where she told hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh: “Eva’s making a comeback – everyone thought the same! But never say never. It was just lovely to see everybody.”

    Catherine Tyldesley
Catherine is said to be returning to the soap

And now, a source claimed Catherine will start filming in the coming weeks for new scenes. Speaking to The Sun, they said she was approached a few times for a return but ‘the stars never alligned’. They said: “But when she was approached with the idea for Eva’s return, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

“She’s so excited and can’t wait to get back on the cobbles and it’s definitely not going to be a storyline to miss,” they added. The Mirror have reached out to ITV for comment. Back in 2021, Catherine revealed she had been forced to decline a soap return for a big storyline due to scheduling conflicts.

“There was a storyline last year where Leanne’s little boy Oliver got very poorly and unfortunately died, and it made total sense for Eva to come back because why wouldn’t she? And they reached out to me, and it was so unfortunate that I’d already signed to do Viewpoint and the dates, we just couldn’t make it work,” she said.

“As a Corrie fan, I felt like I’d let people down!” she admitted. “Because I really – I’m not one of those actresses that will say ‘no I’m done with Corrie I won’t go back’, I felt like they presented me with this storyline and I was like ‘oh my gosh yeah of course she’d be there, it’s her sister’ and I was just really gutted actually that we couldn’t make it work. Of course I’d nip back, of course I would. It was just such a huge part of my life, and I adore that place, I really do.”

  • Death in Paradise star’s secret role in EastEnders as they make cameo as Mervin’s mum

Death in Paradise star’s secret role in EastEnders as they make cameo as Mervin’s mum

Death in Paradise fans saw a cameo from Judith Jacob during Friday night’s episode as she played the role of Mervin’s mum – but some fans may recognise her from EastEnders

Death in Paradise fans saw a cameo from actress Judith James as Dorna Bray, Mervin’s mum – and some fans may recognise her from BBC soap, EastEnders.

During the fourth episode of Death in Paradise, fans see a photo of Judith Jacob as Mervin’s (Don Gilet) mother. Don made his entrance during the Christmas special of the show, as Ralf Little’s replacement. It made him the fifth person to helm the BBC murder mystery.

The detective originally travelled to the island in hopes to meet his birth mother, Dorna Bray. However, he instead discovered that she had recently died. He was informed on her death by Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington), who told him she had died during an accident while scattering her father’s ashes. At the end of episode three, fans heard Mervin listening to a distressing phone call of Dorna being in distress from the boat. He then calls the commissioner and tells him he was right – Dorna’s death was an accident and he’d be shutting the case down. At the start of Friday night’s episode, Mervin was heard saying he was ‘fine’ with his mum’s case being closed

At the end of the episode, Mervin is seen raising a beer to a photo of his mum, as he says: “To you, Dorna. Mum,” with a picture of actress, Judith Jacob.

EastEnders fans recognised Don for his role as villain Lucas Johnson, who was married to Denise Fox.

Just like her on screen son, EastEnders fans may recognise Judith from her role in the soap all the way back in 1986. The star is known for her role as health visitor Carmel Roberts from 1985 to 1989. During her time in the role, Judith’s character Carmel suffered from severe marital abuse from her husband, Matthew Jackson, played by Steven Hartley. It marked the first time the show had addressed domestic abuse.

In chilling scenes, Carmel’s nephew Junior was seen stabbing Matthew, in an attempt to save his aunt. Matthew was admitted to hospital, and despite trying to convince Carmel he’d changed, he hadn’t. In July 1989, Carmel threw Matthew out of the home, as he made his exit from Walford. A month later, Carmel made her own exit from the Square to look after her mother, after learning her father had died.

Fans were over the moon when Judith was announced as a guest star for the 14th season of the show. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to announce her arrival, the show revealed: “Does Saint Marie have an East End? Either way, we’ll be welcoming Judith Jacob to our shores. #DeathInParadise.”

“Judith for the killer. She would make a brilliant murderer,” wrote one fan, while another said: “Legend coming to #deathinparadise.”

EastEnders’ Louisa Lytton’s moving three word message for Martin Fowler actor James Bye

Martin Fowler – played by James Bye – was killed off during the live episode of EastEnders for its 40th anniversary, with Ruby Allen – played by Louisa Lytton – devastated over it

Cast member Louisa Lytton has addressed her co-star James Bye’s emotional departure from EastEnders.

The BBC show celebrated its 40th anniversary throughout this week, including in a live episode on Thursday. It saw long-running character Martin Fowler – played by James, 40 – killed off following an explosion at the Queen Vic pub.

Fans shared their heartache over the storyline and some of James’ colleagues have also addressed him leaving the show. It includes Louisa, 36, whose character Ruby Allen has been dating Martin following her return last year.

Louisa posted behind-the-scenes photos from the episode on her Instagram Story following its broadcast, including one of herself stood beside James. The co-stars were seen hugging whilst inside the show’s set for the damaged pub.

The actor – who first worked with James in 2018 – expressed her sadness over his exit from EastEnders in the caption. Alongside an emoji depicting a broken heart, Louisa wrote in her post: “No words really.” She also tagged James in it.

Earlier this week, viewers saw Ruby and Martin stuck inside the Queen Vic following the explosion, alongside the likes of his ex-wife Stacey. Martin helped several loved ones escape, including Ruby, but he remained inside to help free Stacey, who had become trapped further inside the building.

Later, as they eventually made their way towards an exit, Martin was struck by a metal beam. It crushed his legs and he was seen struggling to breathe when paramedics and firefighters worked to rescue him. Whilst they waited, Martin and Stacey – who are both said to have been given “code names” in the script, concealing their identities – expressed their love for each other and planned a future together, with him even proposing marriage to her.

Martin however died after the beam was lifted off his legs towards the end of the episode. Stacey had been warned that he was at risk of cardiac arrest in the procedure as a result of crush syndrome. Ruby, who like Stacey has a child with Martin, was among the concerned other residents outside the pub, awaiting updates on the situation inside it. She seemingly received confirmation of his death when Stacey screamed and was then seen falling to the floor herself shortly before the episode’s end credits began.

Following the news of his departure, James said in a statement: “Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the shows epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right. It’s an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude. A huge thank you to all the fans of the show – EastEnders wouldn’t be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years. This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s time to look forward, and I’m incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler.”

  • Frank Lampard’s staggering net worth, lucky meeting with wife Christine, £10m mansion

Frank Lampard’s staggering net worth, lucky meeting with wife Christine, £10m mansion

The lowdown on Chelsea and England legend Frank Lampard’s life, including his net worth, romance with TV presenter wife Christine and his latest crack at football management

Frank Lampard is one of the most celebrated figures in English football.

He is revered for his exploits with Chelsea, where he won a host of honours, including the Premier League and the Champions League. Lampard also excelled for England, scoring 29 times in 106 appearances for the Three Lions.

His transition into management has been a mixed bag, with spells at Derby County, Chelsea (twice), Everton and now Coventry City. But unlike fellow international colleagues Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, he remains in work.

Naturally, he has amassed a sizeable fortune, part of which he has spent on a lavish home, which he shares with his TV presenter wife Christine and their children. Here’s the lowdown on his fortune, life with Christine and how he’s revitalised his managerial career…

What is Frank Lampard’s net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lampard has an estimated fortune of around £75million. The website also claims he earned an annual salary of £9.6million at Everton, although this figure has never been officially verified.

According to Total Sportal, a sports-focused website, Lampard’s Everton contract was valued at £15million, including a signing bonus and various other incentives, many of which weren’t triggered as the Toffees sacked him in January 2023. He briefly returned to Chelsea at the end of the 2022/23 season for an unsuccessful but presumably well-paid spell as interim manager.

When did Frank Lampard meet Christine?

There was an element of fate about Frank and Christine getting together. They first met back in October 2009 at the Pride of Britain awards.

Christine, then Bleakley, almost didn’t make it to the awards ceremony as she had just been hosting The One Show. Speaking on Loose Women about meeting her hubby, she recalled: “I am very, very glad we met when we did, it was definitely about timing for us.”

It turned out Lampard was a fan of the BBC show she co-hosted with Adrian Chiles, although Christine wasn’t convinced at first. She once said: “Frank came over to me and said, ‘I watch you on The One Show’. I said, ‘No you don’t! Who was my guest last night?’

“And he was able to tell me! I just laughed and we both giggled about it. Then that was it. He somehow got my number, and I had a withheld number call my phone on the way home. I picked up and it was him.

“I said ‘Wow, you’re keen!’ as a bit of a joke and we chatted. He said he enjoyed meeting me and would like to stay in touch. It was very relaxed.”

The pair got married in 2015 and have two children together, Patricia and Freddie. Patricia is named after Frank’s late mother. He also has two older children from a previous relationship with Elen Rivas, Luna and Isla.

    Where does Frank Lampard live?

The Lampards share a stunning £10million mansion in London. During an episode of Loose Women, Christine provided viewers with a glimpse of her home life.

She revealed that she has her very own “she shed” in the garden where she goes to get some peace and quiet. She said: “It’s tiny but I walked into it the other day and thought, ‘this could be a good hiding place’ – even just a little five minutes.”

Judging by pictures posted to Instagram, the home appears to have a monochrome feel with bright white walls as part of a modern theme. The kitchen features white glossy wall-to-ceiling cabinets with numerous integrated appliances. It also boasts ample space for meal preparation and a large kitchen island.

    Who does Frank Lampard manage?

Lampard has revived both Coventry and his own managerial career in the Championship. He had a tough act to follow in replacing club legend Mark Robins, who had led the Sky Blues from the fourth tier to the brink of the Premier League – losing in the 2023 play-off final – and an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United last season.

Speaking after the midweek win over Sheffield Wednesday, Lampard said: “For the work we’ve done over these last two months and where we are trying to get to, sometimes a game just challenges you in a different way. This one did and the players dug in and we went at it at the end.”
