Dolly Parton’s husband of almost 60 years, Carl Dean, passed away in March 2025, and in addition to the outpouring of sympathy on Instagram, Parton herself shared a new song there today as a testament of their love. Called “If You Hadn’t Been There,” the song is a heartbreaking letter of love and gratitude to the man she shared her life with. Not only the song honest and vulnerable, Dolly’s voice wells and quivers in sadness as she sings:

    “I wouldn’t be here
    If you hadn’t been there
    Pushing me on
    When I was scared”

    – YouTubewww.youtube.com

Parton and Dean met the day after she left her native Sevier County, Tennessee to make music in Nashville. The year was 1964, and they found each other at the laundromat. “I graduated on a Friday night, went to Nashville on a Saturday morning with dirty clothes and I went to a Laundromat looking for anything but love,” she told Interview Magazine in 1984, having just gotten out of not one but two relationships. “We dated for two years before we got married. I often get myself in love trouble because I’m so passionate; I love so much and so deep. But Carl’s a special guy, I didn’t have any problems with him.”

They married in 1966, the first and only marriage for both, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary next year. They laughed together and understood each other, Dolly said in an interview, but they were also friends, as many of the best relationships are.

“I think humor, honestly, is one of the best things when you’re married like that,” she said in 2022, as reported on Upworthy. “Even if you have a problem, if you have a great sense of humor, if you say something you can’t take back [you] usually have some crazy way of getting out of it.”

Though Parton and her husband were together for some six decades, fame was not part of a life he wanted, but that never bothered her, she was known to say. Throughout his life, he owned an asphalt paving company, the New York Times shared. Still, and even though Dolly’s love songs are often known for their versatility, he was not infrequently an inspiration for her work, especially songs like “Tomorrow is Forever,” “From Here to the Moon and Back,” “Marry Me,“ and “Jolene.”

Things weren’t always easy. ”Jolene,” for example, came from a bank teller that gave her husband a little too much attention at the bank, and vice versa; her song “Just Because I’m a Woman” came from Dean learning to acknowledge Dolly’s past, the Times also reported. But together they stayed.

Dean passed away on March 3 at the age of 82. The outpouring on Dolly’s Instagram at some points numbered into the millions, with fans expressing their sympathy. Thanking them, she also offered some feelings of Carl’s passing. “He is God’s arms now and I am OK with that,” she wrote. “I will always love you.”
Dedicating her new song to him shortly after, she wrote:
“I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old. We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together. Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story.”

Though they were married for over 50 years and though Dolly Parton is one of the most famous people on the planet, there are few photos of young Carl Dean, Parton’s husband who died on March 3, and even fewer recent pictures, because Dean remained a private person for his entire life.

“He does not want to be in the spotlight at all,” Parton told Entertainment Tonight in a 2020 interview. “It’s just not who he is. He’s, like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.”

That doesn’t mean Parton never shared tidbits about their life together. She has occasionally posted throwback photos of herself and her husband from when they were still just two young kids in love, and she’s even explained how a one-time Carl Dean flirtation inspired “Jolene,” one of her most famous songs.

“Jolene” was loosely based on a bank teller that “got this terrible crush” on her husband, Parton told NPR in 2008. “And he just loved going to the bank because she paid him so much attention. It was kinda like a running joke between us—when I was saying, ‘Hell, you’re spending a lot of time at the bank. I don’t believe we’ve got that kind of money.’ So it’s really an innocent song all around, but sounds like a dreadful one.”

Based on the photos we do have of young Carl Dean and Dolly Parton, it’s easy to see why he was such a heartbreaker back in the day.

Alongside this photo of Parton and Dean—wearing her merch—Parton on Instagram advised all her fans to find a partner who lifts them up as much as her husband does her. “Find you a partner who will support you like my Carl Dean does!”

While we don’t know much about Carl Dean, we at least know that he was as handsome as Parton is beautiful. “Happy #Thanksgiving from me and mine to you and yours,” she wrote in 2021.

Young Dolly Parton lived in a cabin with her family of 14 & bathed in the nearby river. Today, she spends her millions on those in need.

From Humble Beginnings to Generous Giving: The Inspiring Story of Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is a global icon, known for her legendary music, signature style, and larger-than-life personality. But beyond the glitz and glamour, she remains deeply connected to her roots—a small one-room cabin in rural Tennessee, where she grew up as one of 12 children.

Born into a poor sharecropper family, Parton’s childhood was marked by hardship. Her father, Robert Lee Parton, worked tirelessly despite being unable to read or write. Their one-bedroom home was cramped, and the children slept three or four to a bed. With limited space indoors, the outdoors became their playground, dining area, and escape. The family bathed in a nearby river because they had no running water.

From an early age, Dolly embraced music as a way to bring joy into her life. She would sing on the front porch, write songs about her experiences, and dream of a future beyond the hills of Tennessee. But despite her ambitions, she never forgot where she came from or the struggles her family endured.

    The Rise of a Star

Determined to make her mark, Parton moved to Nashville after high school and quickly became a rising country music star. Her talent, persistence, and charisma led to countless hits, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You.” As she built her career, she also built an empire—from music and acting to Dollywood, her theme park that celebrates the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

But money and fame never changed her heart. Instead, they amplified her generosity.

    A Legacy of Giving

Dolly Parton is one of the most charitable celebrities in the world. She has spent millions giving back, focusing on education, healthcare, and disaster relief. She founded the Imagination Library, which has provided over 200 million free books to children worldwide, encouraging literacy at a young age—perhaps inspired by her father’s struggle with reading.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, funding research that contributed to the development of the Moderna vaccine. She has also helped families affected by wildfires, built college scholarship programs, and continues to uplift communities in need.

Despite her wealth, Dolly remains grounded and humble. She often credits her childhood struggles for shaping her compassion and drive to help others.

    More Than a Music Icon

Dolly Parton’s story is one of resilience, kindness, and selflessness. She never forgot her roots, and instead of using her wealth only for luxury, she uses it to change lives.

Her journey—from **a young girl in a cabin without running water to a superstar with a heart of gold—**proves that success is not just about what you gain, but how you give back.

Dolly once said, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.” And through her actions, generosity, and spirit, she continues to make the world a brighter place.

Meghan Markle’s estranged dad sends emotional message to star over her royal title

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s estanged father Thomas Markle Snr. has given a scathing verdict of her new cooking show, and has also responded to the bombshell revelation that she no longer goes by the name ‘Meghan Markle’

Thomas Markle Snr, the estranged father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has opened up about his daughter’s decision to put aside her maiden name of Markle.

Even though it’s been nearly seven years since she walked down the aisle at Windsor’s St George’s Chapel, the Duchess is still often referred to by fans as simply ‘Meghan Markle’ – but behind closed doors, this apparently isn’t the case

In the second episode of her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, the 43-year-old could be seen chatting away about fast food with actress Mindy Kaling, who remarked: “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box.”

Gently correcting The Office US star, Meghan revealed: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now. You have kids, and you go, ‘no I share my name with my children’…I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go ‘this is our family name, our little family name

Many fans struggled to get their heads around the idea of ‘Meghan Sussex’, and this includes dad Thomas, whose relationship with his famous daughter has been strained since around the time of her May 2018 wedding.

In the show, Meghan fondly recalls memories of her grandmother making apple butter and her wish to continue this sweet preserve-making tradition for her own children. Meghan shared: “I think my kids will now connect this to coming home from school and smelling sweetness that wafts through the house when you are slow-cooking fruit.”

However, 80-year-old Thomas believes that Meghan’s grandmother Doris, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 91, would be “disappointed” to learn of Meghan’s name change.

Thomas told the Mail Online: “My mum loved Meghan very much but she would be so disappointed to hear that Meghan no longer wants to use the name ‘Markle’. My mother was proud to be a Markle. So am I. Meghan never had a problem with the Markle name until she met Prince Harry.” He then sarcastically quipped: “Now I have to say, ‘I am Meghan Sussex’s dad.”’

Thomas has hit back at Meghan’s claim that she was a ‘latchkey kid’

Retired lighting director Thomas also took issue with Meghan’s claim that she was a “latchkey kid” who “grew up with a lot of fast food and also a lot of TV tray dinners”. He argued: “Like any single father who did a long day’s work, I’d occasionally put a TV dinner in the microwave. But most of the time we’d go out.

“After school, I would either pick her up myself and we’d go out to eat, or I’d send a car to bring her to the set. She grew up on the sets I worked on. She was never a latchkey kid.

“We lived in a great area, which was packed with restaurants. We ate out all the time. At weekends when I wasn’t working I’d take her to a dance class and then invite her and all her friends out for a meal.”

As detailed in the Netflix doc Harry & Meghan, Thomas’ continued interviews with the press, including staged paparazzi photos of him preparing for the Royal wedding, causing the Duchess great distress. In 2019, excerpts of a letter Meghan wrote to Thomas begging him to stop was published in People magazine.

Thomas has never met his young grandchildren, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

Gene Hackman would have ‘died long ago’ without wife Betsy’s care, says friend

Oscar winning actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, 63, were tragically found dead at their New Mexico home alongside one of their three dogs

Gene Hackman’s close friend has revealed how the Hollywood actor was dependent on his wife Betsy Arakawa in his later years.

The Oscar winning actor, 95, and his wife, 63, were tragically found dead at their New Mexico home alongside one of their three dogs. It has since emerged that Betsy most likely died first from hantavirus, with Gene – who had alzheimer’s – sadly dying a week later.

Tom Allin, who was a close friend of the Hollywood star, has revealed that Gene previously said he would have died “long ago” if Betsy wasn’t there to look after him. Speaking to The New York Times, he said: “She was very protective of him.”

Opening up about seeing his friend just before the pandemic in January 2020 for Gene’s 90th birthday, Mr Allin remembered seeing his wife mixing soda into his wine, explaining she “just really looked after him”. At the time, he also noticed that the Hollywood star was declining.

For Betsy’s birthday every year, Gene would cook dinner for her. However, Mr Allin said that she came home in 2023 and Gene had forgotten their tradition.

On Friday, authorities in New Mexico revealed the cause of death of both the Hollywood legend and his wife – who he had been married to since 1991. Dr Heather Jarrell, Chief Medical Examiner for New Mexico at the office of the Medical Investigator, shared the medical insights to the deaths.

The medical expert revealed: “The cause of death for Miss Betsy Hackman, aged 65 years, is hantavirus, pulmonary syndrome. The manner of death is natural, autopsy, examination and full body post mortem, CT demonstrated no findings of trauma, internally or externally, with microscopic findings consistent with Coronavirus pulmonary syndrome.”

Dr Jarrell explained that no trace of COVID 19 or influenza was found within Betsy. She added: “Testing for carbon monoxide was negative. There were no other significant natural disease findings. Pills present on scene, or thyroid medication, which were being taken as prescribed and is not currently a concern for a contributory cause of death.

The authorities went on to explain that hantavirus can be transmitted by rats and that warnings were issued to those entering the property to reduce the risk of others becoming infected. It was explained: “We did identify signs of rodent entry and other structures on the property and provided information and resources mission related to those areas. Hantavirus can be transmitted to people through rodent urine, droppings or saliva, so it is important to take special steps when cleaning up after vermin; avoiding contact with or breathing in aerosolised rodent urine or faeces, especially in a poorly ventilated area, is key.”

Attention then turned to the death of Gene, with Dr Jarrell revealing that there were several causes of his death – but adding it could not be confirmed that heart failure had occurred. She also revealed that the star had battled Alzheimer’s disease ahead of his death.

Dr Jarrell explained: “The cause of death for Mr. Gene Hackman, 95 years, is hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease as a significant contributory factor. Autopsy examination and a full body post mortem CT examination demonstrated no acute findings of internal or external trauma, and showed severe heart disease, including multiple surgical procedures involving the heart, evidence of prior heart attacks and severe changes of the kidneys due to chronic high blood pressure.”

She continued: “Examination of the brain showed advanced Alzheimer’s disease, as well as blood vessel changes in the brain secondary to chronic high blood pressure. Laboratory testing performed at scientific laboratories division was negative for COVID, 19, influenza and other common respiratory viruses. Testing for Hantavirus was negative. Testing for carbon monoxide was negative. Additionally, there were no autopsy findings concerning for Hantavirus infection.”

Earlier, a timeline of Betsy’s last known movements was uncovered, revealing she had emailed a massage therapist at approximately 11:21am on 11 February and attended a local Farmers Market between 3:30pm and 4:15pm. She then visited a CVS Pharmacy in Santa Fe between 4:12pm and 4:20pm before then stopping at a local pet store at about 4:54pm.

Police revealed CCTV footage showed her car returning home at 5:15pm and that they discovered unopened emails dating from 11 February. Officers have petitioned phone companies to retrieve records of Gene and Betsy’s devices.

While the police did not specify an exact date of death of the musician, they noted that she had last been in public and active via email communication on 11 February. It was then revealed that Gene had died approximately a full week later – with the star’s pacemaker being a relatively reliable source of information.

Dr Jarrell revealed: “Mr. Hackman’s initial pacemaker data revealed cardiac activity on February 17, with subsequent pacemaker interrogation demonstrating an abnormal rhythm of atrial fibrillation on February 18, which was the last record of heart activity. Based on this information, it is reasonable to conclude that Mr. Hackman probably died around February 18.”

    Image:
(Image: AP))Insight was also shared into the death of a dog – whose body had also been found at the property last month. The couple’s pet, named Zinna, had been receiving treatment at a local veterinary practice and was retrieved by Betsy on the last day she was seen in public. Police surmised that the animal had undergone a procedure – with police stating: “[This] may explain why the dog was in a crate at the residence.”

Following the police statement, a member of the assembled press asked the authorities if it was possible Zinna had suffered from hantavirus too – however, Dr Jarrell firmly debunked the theory, stating that dogs cannot contract the disease.

Over the course of Friday’s update, an agonising timeline of Gene’s final days were laid out by the authorities. During a question and answer segment with members of the press, more details were revealed of what Gene’s final days could have been like.

Asked if he could have survived without his wife, Dr Jarrell said: “The answer to that question is that Mr. Hackman showed evidence of advanced Alzheimer’s disease. I’m not aware of what his normal daily functioning capability was. He was in a very poor state of health. He had significant heart disease, and I think ultimately that is what resulted in his in his death.”

She added: “I was able to look at fluid to determine if he was dehydrated, and I did not see evidence of dehydration. I did see evidence of very poor kidney function, and I think he died as a result of his his heart disease, and with Alzheimer’s being that contributing factor.”

Danny Jones needs to ‘speak out now’ as Maura Higgins ‘bears brunt of backlash’

Married McFly singer Danny Jones has been urged to speak out following his shock kiss with Maura Higgins at the BRIT Awards as he remains silent amid the scandal

Danny Jones has been urged to address his kiss with Maura Higgins as his scandal rumbles on.

The married McFly singer, 38, has been determined to keep his head down after being spotted kissing the Love Island star, 34, at a BRITs afterparty over a week ago. Yet another video has emerged of the pair enjoying a wild night of drinking at swanky Nobu Hotel in London until 6am.

Danny and his wife of 11 years, Georgia Horsley, are in crisis talks in a bid to save their marriage, while Maura flew out to LA in a bid to flee the drama. The I’m A Celebrity co-stars got cosy with each other at the Universal Music BRITS afterparty, as their kiss was caught on camera. His behaviour has been a “slap in the face for Georgia”, who chose to put her own career on the backseat to support their son Cooper, seven, and her married to Danny.

Maura and Danny were snapped smiling as they left the bash alongside their fellow former jungle campmate Oti Mabuse. It later emerged that married Danny and single Maura – who recently split from Strictly star Pete Wicks – had continued to party at exclusive London hotel Nobu until 6am, drinking wine together

The pair have both received backlash for the smooch, yet a source has told the Mirror that Danny must be the one to speak out. They told us: “Everyone would understand why Danny and his wife have been quiet. They are likely working through various discussions from the first video that was released alone. With this second video, Danny needs to now speak out.”

They added: “Maura is getting a lot of the backlash, and Danny seems to be getting away with his actions as a husband who was supposed to have been in love with his wife for over a decade. Danny’s career should be halted at this point and he should be big enough to now speak out to everyone and explain what has happened and take some accountability.”

“This is unfair on his wife, who seems to have put the family and their marriage first. Who knows if another video will emerge, but being honest is now the only way that this has a chance of resolving itself.” While Danny headed Down Under to take part in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Georgia juggled a house move, solo parenting and work.

It ultimately became too much for the mum-of-one as she booked herself into a solo retreat in January to recuperate. Georgia’s appearance at The Baby Show at Excel London on Saturday was reportedly cancelled at the last minute as she didn’t attend her scheduled appearance with pal and co-star Kelsey Parker.

When he was in the jungle, Georgia broke down in tears saying her emotions had “come to a head”. “She’s been an incredible partner to him so this feels very unfair,” our source said. “But Georgia is a strong woman, she won’t let it ruin what they have.” In a recent episode of the Parenting Hell podcast, Danny joked to hosts Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe about going into the jungle. He quipped: “I left my wife to move house all by herself. I’m surprised she’s still with me, to be honest

US President Donald Trump has reportedly gone ‘cool’ on the UK after King Charles met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksky at the Sandringham Estate last week

Donald Trump reportedly feels ‘less special’ after King Charles hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week.

The US President is said to have ‘gone cool’ on the UK, with insiders claiming images of the King and Zelensky together made Trump feel his own state visit invitation to Britain had been overshadowed. During their recent meeting in the White House, Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended an invitation from the King to Trump for a formal state visit, leading Trump to praise him as a “wonderful man”. At the end of the same week, Zelensky was warmly received by Charles at the Sandringham Estate, just a few hours after he had faced a barrage from Trump in the Oval Office.

Trump is said to have reacted badly to photographs of the King and Zelensky together, having initially been buoyed by the prospect of an unprecedented second state visit for a sitting US president. An insider from the White House told the MailOnline: “Things definitely went a bit cool in Washington after Sandringham. We told them that the King makes his own decisions about who he meets.”

Number 10 said they “do not recognise” the reports, adding: “We have been unequivocal about the importance of the US as an ally of the UK. No two countries are as closely aligned as ours on economic, defence, security and intelligence interests, and we share deep historic and cultural ties. We will continue to work hand-in-hand and look forward to welcoming President Trump.”

Whitehall insiders also stressed that the meeting between the King and Zelensky was not a reaction to Trump and Zelensky’s argument at the Oval Office, and pointed out that it had been in the diary for some time. The King previously hosted the Ukrainian President back in 2023, when he told him: “We’ve all been worried about you and thinking about your country for so long.”

This comes after Trump hit back at reports of a major rift between Elon Musk and senior officials within the White House. A heated clash was said to have broken out during a cabinet meeting of Trump’s top team on Thursday, which began when the Tesla billionaire allegedly accused Secretary of State Marco Rubio of failing to cut enough staff from his own department.

Speaking to a reporter at the White House on Friday, the president said: “No clash, I was there, you’re just a troublemaker. Elon gets along great with Marco and they’re both doing a fantastic job

Dancing on Ice fans outraged over ‘ridiculous’ finale detail

Dancing on Ice fans were left outraged after spotting what they called a ‘ridiculous’ detail during the show’s grand finale.

Dancing on Ice viewers were left fuming after spotting what they deemed a ‘ridiculous’ detail during last night’s grand finale.

The competition began with Anton Ferdinand, a former footballer, Sam Aston from Coronation Street, and wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan stepping onto the ice for the first of their three routines. These opening performances, choreographed by the judges, sparked mixed reactions from fans. Michaela, partnered with professional skater Mark Hanretty, emerged as the frontrunner, with social media users on X describing her as “beautiful.” However, the same enthusiasm wasn’t shared for the other contestants. Many viewers were particularly outraged by the judges’ seemingly excessive scoring, as all celebrities were awarded perfect 10s

One X user wrote: “Anton is the least talented but got the best routine. Favouritism?” Whilst second added: “Clearly the judges have their orders. 10 for everyone, so leave it to US! Pathetic.” A third penned: “To me the 3 showcase routines have been awful, they didn’t show off what the celebs could do. More show than skating.” A fourth even slamming Michaela’s perfomance wrote: “Not impressed at all by Jane & Chris‘s choreography for Michaela (hardly any skating, just her being constantly lifted up by the professionals) and Sam (chasing Annette like a maniac round the rink).”

Last night’s highly anticipated finale saw Sam snatch the coveted crown alongside his proffesional dance partner. Sam, 31, best known for playing Chesney Brown on ITV’s Coronation Street, teamed up with Molly Lanaghan for the skating competition and managed to surpass bookmakers’ top pick, Michaela.

He triumphed in the final over the Spring Watch presenter who was runner up and former footballer Anton Ferdinand who came third. All three of the finalists got the show off to a perfect start, with the judges giving all of the 40 out of 40 for their show dances. After a second performance of the famous Bolero, made famous by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, actor Sam then skated to victory with the public vote.

Sam said: “I’ve got no words, I’m shocked,” and hugged his skating partner and became tearful after being handed the trophy. Dean, 66, said he was “really proud” of Aston after he and Lanaghan impressed the judges following their showcase routine to The Pink Panther Theme.

“I mean tonight, everything came together. Your skating skills are always on show, but you had to have timing and acting… I’m really proud of you”, Dean said. Just before he was announced as the winner he had said: “I have surprised myself a bit on here. It has been a whirlwind but a really lovely journey to be on

“What I’ll take away from the show the most is it is good to challenge yourself in life. If you put your heart and soul into it, anything is possible.” Praising his partner Molly he said: “We have had a laugh from start to finish.” Runner up Michaela, 58, said: “I feel a winner to have got this far.

“It has been such a bubble of skating joy. I hope I have inspired people of a certain age to try something new.” Sam battled through the pain to win the final as he has been having physio after dislocating his shoulder earlier in the competition. He said: “I’ve really enjoyed the journey. It’s mad cos it’s, you know, it’s just a roller coaster, but I’ve absolutely loved it and you know, I think it’s, it’s really nice to just push yourself out of your comfort zone, you know, challenge yourself.”

The Coronation Street actor and his skating partner Molly Lanaghan were crowned winners of Dancing On Ice 2025 on Sunday night, but Sam’s wife children weren’t in the audience watching her partner skate his way to success

Speaking with Lorraine Kelly on Monday morning, Sam explained why his family haven’t tuned in to watch his crowning moment. “They came to all the other [shows], but because my wife would always have to leave with the kids, we said for the final it’d be nice for her to be able to be there and watch the watch the whole show for the first time and enjoy it.

“They’re going to watch it this morning,” Sam, who shares three children with Briony Gardner, continued to say on the ITV show. “When I left this morning, my missus pressed play on it because they want to see it. They don’t know that I won, so she’s going to record their reaction for me!”

All three finalists were awarded full marks from the judges following their showcase routines during the final, which had been choreographed by former Olympic figure skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Aston, 31, and wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, who was the runner-up, both performed Torvill and Dean’s famous gold-medal winning Bolero routine after Anton Ferdinand and his skating partner Annette Dytrt were voted out.

Former West Ham United defender AntonFerdinand, 40, was the first finalist to perform on Sunday night and impressed the judges with his showcase number to Let’s Go Crazy by Prince And The Revolution. Despite receiving a perfect 40, Ferdinand and Dytrt placed third following a public vote.

Ferdinand told Dytrt: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this journey with you, Annette. So thank you very much.” The former footballer’s brother, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, could be seen in the audience. West Ham United had wished Ferdinand luck in an Instagram post that said: “Wishing good luck to Anton and his skating partner Annette in the Dancing On Ice final this evening.

Springwatch presenter Strachan, 58, and her skating partner Mark Hanretty placed second and also received praise from the judges during the final. After their showcase performance to the song Don’t Rain On My Parade, from the musical Funny Girl, judge Oti Mabuse said: “That really touched me. I thought the entire thing was absolutely beautiful.”

The final also saw Torvill and Dean take to the ice rink for “their last ever TV performance”. In February 2024, on the 40th anniversary of their Olympic gold success, the duo announced they would retire from skating as a pair in 2025. For the routine, the skaters wore all purple in a nod to their Bolero performance and executed some impressive moves before the professional skaters graced the rink to perform alongside them

Introducing the segment, presenter Holly Willoughby said: “Tonight they’re taking to the ice together for their last ever TV performance.” The show, presented by Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, was judged by a panel comprised of dancer and Diversity star Ashley Banjo, former Strictly Come Dancing professional Mabuse, and skaters Torvill and Dean.

The winner was chosen by the public. Last year, soap star Ryan Thomas and his ice skating partner Amani Fancy were crowned the winners of series 16

Meghan Markle shares rare Princess Lilibet snap with striking similarity to Prince Harry

The Duchess of Sussex has delighted fans by sharing a heartwarming, never-before-seen photo of her family, featuring Prince Harry and their daughter, Lilibet

Meghan Markle has shared an adorable unseen photo with husband Prince Harry and their youngest child, daughter Lilibet.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Meghan, 43, took to Instagram to post a tribute to all of the female loved ones in her life, including her three-year-old daughter. The Duchess wrote alongside the snaps: “Happy International Women’s Day. Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.

Meghan, who is a mum-of-two and also shares son Archie, 5, with Prince Harry, rarely shares photographs of their children. The gorgeous photo of her daughter and Harry shows that the father-daughter duo share a striking similarity when it comes to their hair colour, as Lilibet appears to also have red hair.

Other photos from Meghan’s post include a childhood photo of herself with her beloved mum Doria Ragland, and a more recent snap of the mother-daughter duo together. Meghan also included a loved-up photograph of herself and Harry sharing an embrace while going for a stroll on the beach on a family holiday.

Her wholesome family post comes after fans rushed to tune into her new Netflix series when it first dropped on Tuesday. Many were hoping to glean brand new information about the Duchess and her life behind the scenes at home with Prince Harry – and they weren’t disappointed.

As well as sharing some tidbits about her family – from Harry’s love of salt on his food to Lillibet’s clean up song – Meghan included some never-before-seen images with viewers. In episode two, Meghan can be seen creating a homemade balloon arch, before viewers are treated to a throwback to the first time she made one – for son Archie’s first birthday back in May 2020.

A photo from that time shows Meghan in a yellow dress next to Archie in a highchair, the balloon arch on display in the background. Harry and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland are also at the celebration.

Meghan’s beloved rescue dog, Guy, who sadly passed away earlier this year, appears throughout the series. In one sweet snapshot, Guy can be seen curled up in a fluffy basket while Meghan smiles for the camera

Speaking about her much-loved pet, Meghan tells viewers: “Guy’s just always there, he’s my shadow. He’s been with me for a very, very, very long time. He’s been with me since I lived in Toronto. He was found in the woods in Kentucky and since moved with me to the UK, back to Canada, to California. So yeah, Guy has a lot of stories to tell.”

In episode five, Meghan discussed the art of flower arranging, and tell viewers that she learnt how to do it at her baby shower in 2019. “When I was pregnant with my son Archie, my girlfriends threw a baby shower for me, and one of the things we did was learn flower arranging,” she says.

Two images from the day are then shown on screen; one showing pregnant Meghan arranging blooms with her friends, and a second capturing her laughing and holding her baby bump.

However, fans only get fleeting glimpses of Meghan’s husband and children in the show, with daughter Lilibet making a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in episode five.

Speaking to friends Abigail Spencer and Kelly McKee Zajfen about her strawberry preserve, Meghan tells them: “Lili and I actually made this batch together. She picked all those berries with me, and then she’s like: ‘No, no mama I’ll do it’ and she wants to try, she’s like ‘I’ll stir it, I’ll mash it’. She’s proud,” Meghan added as a photo of her daughter popped up on screen.

The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to reveal there will be a second series of the show. Sharing a video to her Stories, she wrote: “Lettuce romaine calm… or not (!) because I’m thrilled to shared that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming.”

The show, which came out on Tuesday, was delayed from January because of the Los Angeles wildfires. In a statement shared by Netflix on Friday night, it was revealed that the second series of the show has already been filmed! The news another offering of With Love, Meghan is on its way will come as a surprise to some due to a wave of negative reviews from critics earlier this week.

The series, produced by Meghan, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.
