Linda Robson breaks down in tears on Loose Women over Pauline Quirke’s dementia

Loose Women star Linda Robson was left in tears and unable to speak as she appeared on the show to discuss pal Pauline Quirke’s dementia diagnosis

Linda Robson was left in tears as she spoke about friend Pauline Quirke’s dementia diagnosis for the first time.

The Loose Women star spoke of her Birds of a Feather co-star while on the show and struggled to contain her emotions. Host Christine Lampard told her: “Clearly, you are there for her and you have got a bit of experience too. You will lean on each other going forward. It is so good thank you have got each other. It is difficult, Linda, I know. Thank you for sharing.”

The support prompted Linda to break down as she was supported by the panelists. She was unable to say anything in response. “We are sending all our love to Pauline and her family,” Christine added. She then told Linda: “You take a little moment.”

Linda opened up on her friendship with Pauline, having met when they were 10-years-old. She said: “We were at the same primary school together and we did everything together. We travelled all over the world, we went to amazing places. Because of Birds of a Feather, it opened many doors.”

The TV star continued: “We just had such amazing times and she was an amazing actress as well. She has got the most beautiful family, a loving husband Steve who was the love of her life. Her kids as well, she has got two kids and granddaughters as well.” Linda added: “We sort of did everything the same. We were really naughty. We used our fame to get into so many different places.”

Last week, Quirke’s husband Steve Sheen said she will retire from “all professional and commercial duties” after a diagnosis in 2021. On Instagram, 66-year-old Loose Women star Robson wrote: “This will be the only time I speak on behalf of my best friend, Pauline. For the past three years, I’ve been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with Pauline. It breaks my heart to see her endure such a terrible illness. Out of respect for her family and her privacy, I will not be discussing this matter further.”

Steve said in his own statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my wife Pauline’s decision to step back from all professional and commercial duties due to her diagnosis of Dementia in 2021.” It was revealed on Loose Women last week that Linda had known about Pauline’s diagnosis for “some time”.

As the devastating announcement was released, Linda was on a Caribbean cruise. She was near the island of Grenada and was unaware the statement was to be released, according to reports. Linda’s Loose Women co-star Ruth Langsford also addressed her being away as Pauline’s health battle was discussed by the panel on Tuesday’s show.

Ruth said: “Linda Robson, obviously great friends with Pauline, is actually away at the moment, otherwise she would have joined us today to talk about her friend. And obviously she has known for some time.” Linda and Pauline have been friends since childhood, but have faced feud rumours over the years.

Ruth Langsford breaks silence on ‘painful’ Eamonn Holmes split – ‘I don’t want to be alone’

Loose Women host Ruth Langsford has admitted her divorce from Eamonn Holmes is ‘painful’ in a candid new interview but also insisted she is moving on with her life

Ruth Langsford has spoken for the first time about her split from husband Eamonn Holmes – admitting it has been “very painful” but insisting she refused to “crumble” and is moving on with her life.

The Loose Women star and Eamonn announced their break up last year amidst reports they had been living separate lives for some time already. Since then Ruth has had to watch on as Eamonn began a new relationship with girlfriend Katie Alexander. Ruth said: “A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with.

“A divorce is very difficult and it’s very painful, but most people don’t have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you. But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job.”

Asked how she is feeling now, Ruth added: “I’m all right. Relationship breakdowns are very difficult – marriage, friendship, whatever it is – but you just deal with it and you have to move on. You can either let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.”

Ruth, who shares son Jack, 22, with Eamonn, added: “I’m not delighted my marriage is over but I’ve accepted that my marriage is over, so I am trying to now embrace the fact that I’m single and can make choices that are just about me.”

Ruth gave the interview to woman&home magazine with sources close to her saying she felt it was the right time to speak, choosing to promote her clothing range at the same time as touching on the break up. In the magazine, honest Ruth also says she has lost weight in part due to the divorce, which came after 14 years of marriage. Cracks had started to appear in their relationship before the formal announcement of the split and they had not been photographed together for two years.

“I have lost weight,” she said, confirming she is now a size 14. “Divorce obviously has something to do with it but I also went for a hormone check and rebalance, which helped. It could also hopefully mean that I’m coming to the end of menopause. I feel better when I’m a bit lighter.”

Admitting some self-doubt, she added: “I know I’m supposed to be empowered, look in the mirror and love my 65-year-old body. Well, I don’t always and, actually, I don’t think many women do. When I’m with my friends, we all complain about trivial stuff but it’s how we feel and that’s OK. Then, we pick ourselves up and get on with our lives because we have so much to be grateful for. We have a good moan, then another bottle of wine!”

Ruth took time off work from Loose Women when the split was first announced in May and returned in July with sources saying at the time she had been left devastated by what had happened and how quickly Eamonn moved on. Her presenting jobs on ITV and with the QVC shopping channel have helped her to look forward with a positive outlook. She said: “For a lot of people, whatever troubles you have, work is something that you have to get up and do. For me, it’s always been a good thing to dust myself down and concentrate on something else.”

She used her first interview to pay tribute to her friends who have had to help her through the split and sometimes been there during tearful late night conversations. Ruth said: “My female friendships are very important and, by God, have they stepped up. They did before, when my sister died, particularly. I’ve always known they’re there, but when the chips are down, they’re really there. They lift you up from the floor. They dry your tears, they bring food around, they phone you all the time to make sure you’re OK – and I would do the same for them. I can probably count those friends – the 2am friend – on one hand.”

By contrast to Ruth’s pain, soon after the split was announced, Eamonn was photographed with girlfriend Katie, although his friends insist they only became close after his split to Ruth. Speaking in June last year, Eamonn “I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all.” When asked about whether he and Ruth will continue to have a relationship of any kind, Eamonn added: “It’s too early to say but I hope we can still be friends.” He has since gone on holiday with his new partner Katie and has continued to work on GB News throughout the break up.

Ruth is now planning holidays herself, considering a visit to Thailand to see her best friend from school. Another option may be to go on a girls trip abroad to celebrate turning 65 as she says she would like to travel more. She said “As for the future, there is a certain feeling of liberation but I’m definitely not planning my next 10 years in finite detail!”

Ruth also suggested she will look to date again like Eamonn when the time is right. She said: “I’m quite fine being on my own, but not forever. When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to say, ‘Great, I’ve got a weekend to myself,’ but when you think that might be every weekend, it’s a different story.”

In the magazine she names Coronation Street actor Jacob Roberts as a celebrity crush describing him as “hot, tall and dark”. Ruth, who turns 65 in March, also speaks in the interview about her dementia fears, as both her parents had Alzheimer’s, with her dad passing away in 2002 and her beloved mum now 94.

She could be tested to see if she is more likely to suffer with the disease when she gets older but she “would rather not know” for the time being as there is currently no medication to treat it. Ruth has found some comments about her looks on social media hurtful but has no plans to go under the knife just yet.

“I’m not saying that I’ll never have a neck lift or a chin lift because, who knows? By the time I’m 68, I might not be able to stand it any more. My grandma and mum were against vanity. If ever I said to my mum, ‘My knees are so chubby,’ she’d say, ‘You’re lucky to have knees.’ Perhaps somewhere in the back of my mind I’ve got a conditioning that to do anything like that is vain. There are times when I think, ‘Am I just cutting my nose off to spite my face?’ I say I don’t want injectables or fillers but I could look great.”

Eamonn and Ruth met in 1997 when they were introduced by mutual friends and they then dated for over a decade before Eamonn popped the question and they married in 2010. Sources close to the former couple admit their divorce has not been finalised and it is unclear how much longer that will take, with one source saying they expect it will be months before they have settled everything.

Coleen Nolan sobs on Loose Women return days after sister Linda’s funeral

Coleen Nolan broke down in tears during Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women as she opened up about the loss of her sister Linda just days after her funeral took place

Coleen Nolan broke down in tears when discussing her sister Linda’s funeral, as she made her return to the Loose Women panel.

When asked by Christine Lampard how the family were doing after Linda’s funeral, which took place on Saturday, Coleen said they were “doing great.” Although, she said they have absolute meltdown moments, “which come out the blue.

Thanking the public for their support, and messages Coleen held back the tears as she spoke on how hard the loss of her sister was. She then opened up about the difficult decision to go back to work.

“It’s just hard,” she said, holding back the tears. “Is it too soon? But you just have to, life goes on. Linda’s had this for 20 years,” Coleen explained. “The one thing she would want to say is, that she wouldn’t want anybody that’s still going through this horrendous disease to give up.”

Speaking on Linda’s impact in the family, she continued: “She was just such a massive force in our family, and it feels like such a hole.”

Despite the difficult decision to go back to the Loose panel, Coleen said she was “glad to be back”.

Linda’s funeral service was held at St Paul’s Church on Saturday February 1 It was a place that held a special place in Linda’s heart as it was the same place where she exchanged vows with her “soulmate” husband, the late Brian Hudson. The pair tied the knot in the summer of 1981.

The funeral was a celeb-filled service, with the likes of Shane Ritchie, Paul Chuckle and Jodie Prenger in attendance at the service.

Charlotte Dawson spoke to PA ahead of the funeral service to pay tribute to Linda. She said: “She touched so many hearts and she’s just fabulous. ‘I’m in full glam for you Linda’, because she’d love me in full glam. The sun is shining for her and she’s just such an amazing person. She just lit up every room she walked into.”

The pregnant reality star went on: “We just used to have so many different memories, travelling all around the country, having a laugh and just getting up to mischief. That was our favourite thing to do.”

Throughout the emotional ceremony, a number of Linda’s favourite songs as well as her own tunes were played.

Linda, who had planned her funeral years before her death, proved that her wicked sense of humour lives on through her final song at her committal. She chose Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone by Frank Sinatra – who The Nolans once supported on tour.

The decision left mourners in fits of giggles as they heard the lyrics: “Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone. Oh, honey though our friendship ceases, from now on. And, listen, if you can’t say anything real nice, it’s better not to talk at all, is my advice.”

Kelly Brook revealed that she once walked out of an Emma Bunton concert after just half an hour and revealed the unexpected reason behind her decision

Kelly admitted her mistake on Loose Women about Emma Bunton
Kelly admitted her mistake on Loose Women about Emma Bunton

Kelly Brook left her Loose Women co-stars completely gobsmacked after admitting she walked out of Emma Bunton’s Christmas show.

On Monday’s episode of the hit ITV daytime show, Kelly joined Charlene White, Brenda Edwards and Judi Love in the studio, where the conversation quickly turned to a jaw-dropping revelation. Kicking things off by discussing the recent phenomenon of theatre-goers leaving productions midway through to avoid ‘spoilers’ before the film adaptation is released. With Wicked receiving ten Oscar nominations, it seems some fans are ditching the West End show to keep the big-screen experience fresh.

But as the debate raged on, Kelly dropped a bombshell of her own. “I do have a confession…” she admitted, before dropping her Emma Bunton-shaped secret. “I love going to the theatre, I’ve seen so many West End shows, musicals, all sorts… But I do need to apologise to Emma Bunton – she invited me to her Christmas show at the Royal Albert Hall.”

Attempting to justify her actions, Kelly explained: “I had a puppy that was six months old, and about half an hour into the show… I got immense anxiety that this little puppy was going to absolutely wreck my house. Eat everything! I just said to my husband, ‘I’m not enjoying the show.’ It was nothing to do with Emma – Emma is fantastic…”

Judi, clearly in disbelief, asked: “Your mind was somewhere else?” To which Kelly nodded. “My mind was somewhere else. I just could not relax.” Charlene pressed for more details. “So, you lasted like three songs?”

Kelly, appearing embarrassed, admitted she and her husband made a sneaky exit. “I said, ‘Let’s just pretend we’re going to the bar…’ and we slipped out and left the show. We went home. The puppy was fine. It was all in my head! And now, any time I’ve got a dog, I cannot see a show.”

Adding insult to injury, Judi demanded to know where Kelly had been sitting. When she revealed she had front-row seats, the panel absolutely lost it. Charlene, still in shock, urged her to make amends. “Do you want to apologise to Emma again?”

Turning directly to the camera, Kelly made her plea: “Emma, I would love to come back to your show again if you would kindly invite me. I know, I know, it was terrible! But the puppy was six months old!”

Elsewhere on the show, emotions ran high as the panel shared personal heartbreaks in a deeply emotional discussion about grief and how to talk to children about death.

Charlene broke down in tears as she opened up about losing her best friend, while Judi became visibly emotional speaking about her late mum. Kelly also welled up as she reflected on the loss of her father.

Alison Steadman is dependent on a wheelchair weeks after fracturing her leg. The Gavin & Stacey star, 72, tripped over while on a trip to Dubai in January and she was injured so badly she’s been left struggling to walk. It’s hell for the actress because she’s had to put her life on hold and turn down acting work.

Alison told The Star in an exclusive interview: “I’ve been in a wheelchair for eight weeks. I am getting a bit frustrated. I want to get out and about more. But it means I can get around my flat. I can move around. Otherwise I’d be in bed or sitting in a chair and I don’t want that.” Living life in a wheelchair has given Alison an insight into what life is like for many disabled people across the country.

She said: “Going through this has made me look at life differently. I’ve realised what it’s like for people in wheelchairs. You suddenly realise what it’s like having to cope. When you go anywhere, you have to hope they have a toilet you can get to.

“And when I’ve stayed in some hotels, the rooms haven’t been great for a wheelchair. They tell you it will be, but when you get there you find out it isn’t.”

TV legend Alison suffered the fall while promoting her memoir at Dubai’s Desert Stanzas event in January. It was terrifying for her because it happened in a flash.

She said: “I knew when I fell that it was serious. The pain was so bad. It’s a case of something happening in two seconds and taking you three or four months to recover.”

Alison admits she feels lucky to be alive. The star is convinced she narrowly cheated death. She said: “If I’d banged my head the way I banged my foot, I promise you, I would not be here. Every time I get fed up, I say that to myself. The important thing is that I’m alive.”

Alison has nothing but praise for the medical staff who looked after her in the moments after the fall and those who helped her get back to the UK.

She said: “Everyone was great. The ambulance that came… they gave me painkillers immediately and put a catheter in my hand. People were really great.”

Defiant Alison is refusing to let her ordeal get her down so she went out with partner Michael Elwyn, 82, to be at the opening night of new musical Midnight Cowboy at Southwark Playhouse in London on Thursday. (Subs please keep this par)

The road to recovery is going to be long for the actress, famed for roles in Abigail’s Party and Fat Friends.

Staff at Whittington Hospital in north London are giving her top notch treatment, but it’s going to take weeks for her to get back to normal.

She said: “I had my leg in a cast for six week. Now I’m in a boot for six weeks and at the end of that I should be able to start to walk with crutches.

“Then I’ve got to have another operation to take the metal plates and the screws out of my foot. I hope I’ll be back on my feet soon. In a month’s time hopefully I will be up walking on crutches and then we’ll see.

“It’s a long journey. I’m being very well treated at the hospital and the doctors are great, the nurses are great, so I can’t complain. I’m being well looked after.”

Patsy Palmer breaks down in tears over Mickey Rourke comment in latest Celebrity Big Brother drama

EastEnders star Patsy Palmer was left in floods of tears on Celebrity Big Brother after actor Mickey Rourke repeatedly made comments over her cooking on the ITV show

Patsy Palmer has been left in tears in the Celebrity Big Brother house after fellow housemate Mickey Rourke made comments about her cooking. The EastEnders star went to the diary room to become upset after Mickey said that she was a terrible cook, with Patsy telling Big Brother: “I always want my kids to always stand up for themselves.”

In tonight’s episode, Mickey made a number of jokes about Patsy’s cooking and how he didn’t rate the dishes that she was serving up. While Patsy said that she hoped he was being sarcastic and laughed it off, she soon went to the diary room to let off some steam to Big Brother.

“Sorry,” she said, breaking down in tears. “I tried to talk that one out but it didn’t really work. I feel like I let myself down there and I don’t want my reactions to be like that.

“I always want my kids to always stand up for themselves. Maybe it was just a joke – maybe I need to look at it like that. I need to try to rise above it. It doesn’t mean I have to like him.”

With Mickey unaware that he had upset Patsy, he didn’t let the issue drop – later telling Big Brother that they need to invest in providing better food for the contestants. “I think in future, you guys should hire really good chefs to feed the people,” he said.

Mickey has been embroiled in a number of controversies during his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, with the star receiving Ofcom complaints over his behaviour towards host AJ Odudu when entering the show. He was then slapped with a formal warning by Big Brother after making homophobic comments towards JoJo Siwa.

Later on, Mickey was slammed by fans for ‘fat-shaming’ fellow housemate Donna Preston after telling her: “You’d probably be better off running round the block for ten minutes,” before adding: “It’s like they say, you are what you eat.”

Earlier today, former Disney star Bella Thorne accused Mickey Rourke of “bruising her genitals” during the filming of 2020 revenge thriller Girl, adding that working with his was “one of the all time worst experiences of my life”.

She wrote on Instagram: ” This f**king dude. GROSS. I had to work with this man – in a scene where I’m on my knees with my hands zip tied around my back. He’s supposed to take a metal grinder to my knee cap and instead he used it on my genitals thru my jeans. Hitting them over and over again. I had bruises on my pelvic bone – Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life working as an actress.”

A spokesperson for Mickey Rourke told The Mirror: “We are aware of the recent article regarding an alleged incident involving Mr. Mickey Rourke during the filming of Celebrity Big Brother. While we fully respect the right of any individual to speak about their experiences, we must be clear: at no point has Mr. Rourke been made aware of any complaint, formal or informal, concerning the incident described.

“Mr. Rourke has always conducted himself professionally on set and is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful working environment for all cast and crew. Out of respect for everyone involved, and due to the sensitive nature of the matter, we will not be commenting further at this time.

“Any questions regarding on-set safety protocols or production matters should be directed to the producers of Celebrity Big Brother.”

While Mickey was up for eviction today, it was Michael Fabricant who became the first contestant to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house.

  • BBC Strictly’s 2025 pro line-up finally confirmed – but one major name is missing

BBC Strictly’s 2025 pro line-up finally confirmed – but one major name is missing

BBC bosses have finally confirmed this year’s professional dancer line-up after much speculation – and fans are set to be surprised

Strictly Come Dancing’s 2025 professional dancer line-up has been confirmed – and no one has been axed despite months of speculation.

However, it has also been confirmed that Giovanni Pernice won’t be returning, despite his hope that he would be back on the show after winning the Italian version of Strictly, Ballando con le Stelle, last year. His comeback would have likely been supported by the likes of judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, who have remained close to the Italian dancer.

Fan favourite Giovanni sensationally quit after his celebrity dance partner Amanda Abbington made a string of allegations regarding his “abusive” behaviour, with the Italian dancer later cleared after a BBC investigation.

Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola will all take to the floor later this year. Two new pro dancers – who are yet to be revealed – will also join them.

Of course, not all the pros will receive celebrity partners this year, so fans will have to wait until the autumn to find out if their favourites will be in the main line-up.

Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios says: “The excitement is already building ahead of the new series and in addition to welcoming back our fantastic returning Pros, we are looking forward to welcoming two brand new Professional Dancers to the line up who will help bring another unforgettable series of dazzling dance and loads more besides to viewers later in 2025.”

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “The Strictly Professional Dancers are the beating heart of the programme, showcasing to viewers in every corner of the UK their world class talent by lighting up the famous Strictly ballroom every Saturday and Sunday night. Here’s to another fab-u-lous series!”

It was claimed last year that five pro dancers were set to leave the show, with Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez and Katya Jones among the names on the chopping block. Yet, this has now been confirmed to not be the case.

It comes after a tumultuous year for the BBC show, which along with Giovanni’s abrupt exit also saw Graziano Di Prima axed by show bosses. A video had emerged of the pro dancer kicking his 2023 celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals, which he admitted to.

Wynne was recorded making an inappropriate sexual comment to Janette Manrara, who acts as host on the tour, when she walked over to the group. He sang out: “Go Compare,” before adding: “Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick].” He then used the hugely demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.

He also meets chefs and wine producers across the regions to learn more about the process and pairing local wines with the exquisite food on offer. Gary adds: “I was actually worried that it was going to feel like we were making the same show again. Beautiful country, southern hemisphere, gorgeous beaches, vineyards – why wouldn’t it be the same? And I couldn’t have been more wrong. I didn’t need to worry whatsoever.”

YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS, APPLE TV+

Mad Men’s Jon Hamm is excellent in this edgy and dramatic black comedy about a man whose life is spiralling out of control. He plays Andrew Cooper, known as Coop, a recently-divorced hedge fund manager who is fired in disgrace and resorts to stealing from his neighbours’ homes in the affluent Westmont Village – only to discover that the secrets behind the posh curtains are more dangerous than he could have imagined.

The show begins with Coop waking up soaked in blood – fortunately it’s someone else’s blood, though it’s not great to wake up next to a dead body in someone else’s house. As Coop narrates the episode, he reflects on the “swirling hot mess of my life”, wondering how everything could go so wrong, so fast. Flash back to four months ago and Coop is in bar where he is seduced by a woman nearly half his age – this will be the first of many mistakes that turn this into an entertaining crime caper.

This Morning’s Sian Welby can’t stop smiling as she shares ‘amazing’ baby news

This Morning presenter Sian Welby has revealed that her little daughter Ruby has spoken her very first word, with the star sharing an adorable video of the precious moment

This Morning star Sian Welby was all smiles on the ITV show today as she announced that her 10-month-old daughter Ruby had spoken her very first word. The presenter, who shares Ruby with fiancé Jake Beckett, shared a heartwarming clip of her tot speaking for the first time on the mid-morning show.

The presenter opened This Morning today by telling his co-host Dermot O’Leary the happy news, saying: “Something amazing happened to me last night. I’ve got little baby Ruby and I’ve been saying a word to her ever since she was born, hoping one day that she would say it back – and last night, she said it back.”

In an adorable clip that aired on the show, Sian is heard saying, “Hiya!” to Ruby, who then repeats the word back before breaking out into giggles.

Capital Breakfast host Sian announced in June last year that she had given birth to her first daughter Ruby, who she shares with her radio producer fiancé Jake Beckett. Sharing the news on Instagram last year, Sian posted a photo of her newborn wearing a jumper with her name on it. “Our little Ruby,” she wrote in the caption.

Fans have taken to social media this week to praise Dermot and Sian’s hosting dynamic, as the pair fill in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during the Easter school break. “I am enjoying your partnership with Dermot and have tuned in more this week. Please can this become a regular thing, you are a great presenter. Also love the dress,” one viewer wrote on Instagram.

Earlier this week, Sian fought tears as she opened up about her dad’s experience with dementia during a phone-in on This Morning. Delivering advice to viewers who have relatives with dementia, she said: “Mums and dads, if they’re the ones with dementia, they still want to feel like a dad.

“I still ask my dad to help me do things even if I could do it myself. It’s just so he feels like he has his purpose and he is my dad.”

Sian has previously spoken about her dad Ian’s dementia diagnosis and how her family has coped. “You’re scared to lose a person that you know, it is quite frightening! Like you say, would I want to take a test knowing I could be susceptible to it?” she said.

She later told OK! Magazine: “If someone calls, he puts the phone down and can’t remember who it was. If mum pops out to the shops, he can’t remember when she left – or when she’s coming back.”
