The new series of Tempting Fortune kicked off on Channel 4 with an explosive argument as Vicki and Sam rowed with Imani over her attitude to spending the prize pot
Tempting Fortune star Imani Evans has spoken out after the explosive argument that kicked off the Channel 4 competition’s latest series.
Tonight’s episode of Tempting Fortune saw Imani clash with fellow contestants Vicki and Sam over her comments on how she would happily spend money on temptations. After the tense row, Imani chose to give into the very first temptation on the first night – a sleep in a comfortable bed costing £1,200.
Speaking to The Mirror in an exclusive chat, Imani opened up about her divisive approach to the competition. “It was quite horrific for me, to be honest,” she said.
On becoming unpopular so early in the competition, Imani said: “I knew that was gonna be the case because I think when you have a lot of confidence and, and you’re able to stand alone, automatically people get their back up, especially if they don’t possess those qualities.

“So I knew that I wasn’t going to be the most popular with the decisions that I was making but I didn’t care. I didn’t go on there for popularity. I went on there for an incredible experience, and I’m the type of person where if someone ruffles my feathers, I’m going to ruffle back 10 times harder.”
Imani added that there’s even more drama to come from the series. “That’s literally the tip of the iceberg. It’s way more dramatic than that,” she said. “And me personally, I didn’t think that it could get worse because it was such a dramatic entrance. I’ve only been in the jungle for 5 minutes, and it was already fireworks.
“So I didn’t think it could get worse, but I’m not kidding when I tell you it gets 10 times worse and yes, I am involved with most of that.”
As for why she was happy to spend so much of the £300,000 prize pot, Imani said that she wanted to have the best experience possible on the show.
“I said that I went in there to have an amazing experience, but also to challenge myself, and that’s exactly what I did. I was always gonna take some temptations, but I was also gonna turn down some temptations,” she said.
“So I feel like I was very true to myself and people will see that. Exactly what I said I was gonna do is exactly what I did throughout and then obviously, in the beginning, I was taking the temptations because I just thought, if you guys are gonna be mean to me, then I’m literally going to make you pay for it in a very literal sense.”
She added: “I have no regrets about that. I wish I’d actually spent more, to be honest.”
Imani also opened up about her reality TV past, revealing that she took part in dating show Meet the Parents nearly ten years ago, hosted by Holly Willoughby. “I was on a dating show which was very interesting with Holly Willoughby,” she said. “It was called Meet the Parents. It was kind of like Blind Date but with your parents talking to the guy. It was absolutely hilarious, amazing. I didn’t end up getting the date with the guy, which I was fuming about because I just like to win. I didn’t really like him but I thought it would be fun to win the date.”
