TV presenter and gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh has announced that he has released a new album for Christmas and was joined by award-winning composer Debbie Wiseman on BBC Breakfast to talk all about it
Alan Titchmarsh revealed exciting career news on Wednesday’s episode of BBC Breakfast.
The beloved 75-year-old gardening expert has joined forces with the acclaimed composer Debbie Wiseman to conjure up a festive treat – an enchanting new Christmas album titled Jack Frost – A Winter Story.
During his appearance on the morning show, Alan had a special shout-out for BBC’s weather expert Carol Kirkwood, expressing his gratitude for the recent cold weather as he said in three-words: “Carol, thank you!”
He elaborated on his thanks, saying: “I’m so grateful to Carol, we’re very grateful to Carol for bringing frost [weather]. Our launch day is Friday, it comes out on Friday, the album, and that’s the coldest day of the year so far… Carol, thank you!”

To which BBC Breakfast host Nina Warhurst couldn’t resist quipping in response: “She likes to do that for all of our guests!”
Debbie, the incredible composer behind the new album, shared insights into their creative process explaining: “We recorded it in May”, adding: “We put together Alan’s story, which he sent me by email one day and just popped on my email – Jack Frost.
“I popped it on the piano and set it to music, it happened so naturally the way the words and music flowed together. I was able to set his lovely magical story to music, it was such a treat!”
Discussing the album’s inspiration, Alan revealed: “I come from a Yorkshire childhood, when I was young, we didn’t have central heating then and the ice would form on the inside of your window, you’d scratch it off, and you’d look out on a landscape very much like this one behind us, and it had all been transformed overnight, we just wanted to make a family tale for Christmas all about the magic of Jack Frost,” reports the Express.

Alan also shared the news on his Instagram, posting a photo of the album with the caption: “Jack Frost single out today. Album out 22nd November” accompanied by a smiling emoji.
His 157K followers responded enthusiastically, with one commenting: “Excellent, can’t wait!” along with heart emojis, another saying: “Looking forward to hearing it”, and a third wishing him “Good luck Alan!”
This isn’t Alan’s first project with Debbie and back in 2018 the duo released The Glorious Garden, which is an album collection of compositions inspired by poems written by Alan.
