EXCLUSIVE: Loose Women’s Judi Love ‘honoured’ as she prepares to host Ethnicity Awards a second time

Judi Love will presenter the 2023 Ethnicity Awards in London later this year, with stars like Lewis Hamilton, Rochelle Humes, Gok Wan and Trent Alexander-Arnold nominated for prizes

Judi Love will return as the host of the 2023 Ethnicity Awards later this year following her stint fronting the star-studded event last year.

The presenter, 43, follows in the footsteps of celebrity names such as Alex Scott, Marvin Humes and her Loose Women co-star Charlene White, who have all previously hosted Britain’s biggest Black, Asian and minority red carpet extravaganza. It will be the second year in a row Judi has been the face of the event.

Sir Lewis Hamilton, Rochelle Humes, Gok Wan and Trent Alexander-Arnold are among the nominees, with the event taking place in London on November 2nd. This Morning presenter Rochelle is tipped to win big as is legendary broadcaster and fashion guru Gok, who away from the media spotlight has championed causes to promote equality, partially for LGBT+ people from minority communities.

Judi spoke exclusively to the Mirror last year about some of the shocking misogynoir Black women and girls face, ahead of her Channel 4 documentary, in which the comedian examined the inequalities experienced by Black females, using humour to address the social, political and economic barriers they face compared with their white counterparts.

“There wasn’t any [misogynoir in regards to dating discussed] in the documentary but there has been stuff mentioned from some of the young girls speaking [on the documentary] who talked about how the pressure on Black women to feel a certain way,” Judi told the Mirror in October.

“Because Western society has Eurocentric ideas about what is beautiful and and that means Black girls have to go above and beyond to feel and look pretty – the expectations would be so much higher.” She added: “But what we’ve clarified is that as a Black woman you are beautiful in your natural skin as yourself.”

As he role as the the 2023 Ethnicity Awards host was announced earlier this month, Judi said: “I am so excited to return to host the 2023 Ethnicity Awards. The event last year was amazing, and it is so inspiring to see the talent in the room and the real change people are making. The Ethnicity Awards celebrates the role models and those advancing opportunities for underrepresented people across the world. I am honoured to be part of the occasion again and can’t wait to see all the winners!”

The Ethnicity Awards is the biggest Black, Asian and minority red carpet ceremony in Britain and is held in partnership with HSBC, celebrating the leading activists, allies and celebrities in the UK and globally.
