The ITV daytime show has been delayed while the nation waited with bated breath to find out who Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s successor would be
Today’s instalment of Loose Women has been delayed while the nation waited with bated breath to find out who would be next to get their hands on the keys to No. 10.
Liz Truss was today named the next Conservative leader and Britain’s PM.
Foreign Secretary Truss takes over from scandal-hit Boris Johnson with former Chancellor Sunak having signalled that he believed he had lost ahead of the announcement, saying his job “now is just to support a Conservative government”.
While the Pound has fallen to its lowest level in over 30 years, Truss takes power at a time when Brits face a cost of living crisis, industrial unrest and a recession and takes the reins from a PM who was forced to announce his resignation in July after months of scandal.
And the announcement of her leadership comes at the price of Monday’s Loose Women episode.

Daytime telly fans were left disappointed as This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield informed fans that they would be staying on air passed their usual 12.30pm cut off for a special extension ahead of the new PM announcement.
Loose Women was set to return to screens with a live audience today for the first time in two-and-a-half years, but the eager fans have been left waiting in the studio while Truss was crowned.
The Loose ladies are set to be joined by Julia Bradbury, one year on from her mastectomy.
She recently revealed her decision to give up alcohol in a new approach to her life a year on from her cancer diagnosis.
Countryfile star Julia, 52, revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2021 and underwent a mastectomy a month later.
Julia, who is mum to Zephyr, 11, and twins Xanthe and Zena, seven, opened up about her diagnosis and how it affected her in her candid documentary Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me.
And she’s on the Loose Women panel today to update fans on her life now ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.
