Fans have rallied around Stacey Solomon as she bravely opened up about a difficult time for her family. The popular Loose Women panellist shared an emotional message with her social media followers, revealing they are “truly devastated” at the sudden illness of their much-loved dog Teddy.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Stacey paid tribute to “Our darling Teddy” before admitting that her and husband Joe Swash’s beloved pooch might “might not ever fully recover”.

She said: “Teddy became suddenly unwell on Thursday. It turns out he has a predisposed condition we had no idea about as he was a rescue. He has been operated on by incredible vets and the next 3-4 days are crucial for him to get through, even then, he might not ever fully recover.”

Reflecting on the bond her family shares with Teddy, Solomon added: “We are praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through and that we can care for him in the best way we possibly can, to give him the best life he can have.”

With profound sadness, Stacey continued: “We are all truly devastated. He is the sweetest, most protective, loving dog. He’s our family. And far too young to be going through this.”

Signing off her post, which included a poignant photograph of her embracing Teddy and his visible yellow cast, the former X Factor contestant expressed her deep affection: “We love you Ted. So so much. Pickle cottage is far too quiet without you. I miss my toilet buddy. Peanut is so sad without his best friend.”

Supportive messages have flooded in for Stacey with a fan commenting: “Oh Teddy, praying for a full recovery bub, I hope you’re ok, come on Teddy you can do this.”

Another fan added: “Aww no! Sorry to hear this about Teddy, wishing him a full and speedy recovery”.

A third fan shared their support: “Oh Stacey, I’m so sorry. Sending so much love. Teddy, you’ve got this little man, get better super soon and back to your family.”

Stacey first introduced Teddy to her followers in 2022, reports Essex Live, after the family decided to welcome a new dog following the passing of their cherished Theo just two weeks prior. The cocker spaniel was brought home to provide companionship for their other dog, Peanut.

The reason behind choosing the name Teddy was also shared by the mum-of-five, who revealed it as a heartfelt homage to Theo.

In a touching Instagram story post featuring an adorable photo, Stacey explained that Teddy is short for Theodore, writing: “We called him teddy because Teddy can be short for ‘Theodore’ so we thought it was a special tribute to Theo.”

At the time, Teddy was a six-month-old working cocker spaniel.

Stacey also disclosed that they didn’t specifically select Teddy but rather asked for a dog that would fit well with young children and another dog. She elaborated: “We didn’t pick him out but we said we would take any dog suitable for young children and another dog.

“We didn’t mind what breed, colour, coat anything as long as he would be happy and it was right. And along came Teddy. Teddy wasn’t wanted by the original owner anymore due to being much smaller than his brothers and sisters.

“I have no idea why or how anyone could not want him or he wouldn’t be ‘good’ enough. But apparently he is no where near the size he should be for his breed and that was one of the main reasons why he wasn’t kept by the breeder.”
