Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden missed the results show after feeling ill. It has been said she could be forced to leave the BBC dance competition
Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden concerned fans after she had to skip the results show after reportedly collapsing backstage the day before.
On Saturday, Amy and her celebrity dance partner JB Gill received a score of 32 after performing a foxtrot to Dancing In The Moonlight by Toploader. Moments after the live performance, it is believed she started to feel ill. Her representatives confirmed an ambulance was called ‘as a precaution’ and that she was ‘feeling much better’.
However, a source claimed that the star, who has been battling cancer for almost two years and also has Crohn’s Disease, could be forced to quit the series. Another professional could temporarily replace the star if she’s ill. If Amy leaves the show to focus on her health, another professional dancer would most likely replace her.
For this year’s series, dancer Lauren Oakley is the only female Strictly star not to be assigned a partner. Lauren joined the BBC competition in 2022, the same year as Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu and Michelle Tsiakkas. She didn’t have a partner for her first series and was only in the group routines.

In 2023, she was partnered with news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy and came in eighth place with him. After performing on stage on Saturday, it was revealed an ambulance was called when Amy started feeling ill.
A representative for Amy said: “Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.” A spokesperson the East of England Ambulance Service also said: “We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient, an adult female, was taken to Barnet Hospital for further care.”
Her dance partner JB talked about Amy while she was absent from the results show. Asked by host Claudia Winkleman how happy, on behalf of them both, he was feeling about not falling into the dreaded bottom two, JB said: “Honestly, I’m beside myself and Amy of course is gonna be so happy that we’re through to icons week. It’s an amazing feeling.” He also revealed that he will be performing a medley nexr week for couple’s choice week.
