Nadia Sawalha was forced to rush herself to hospital recently after she noticed a worrying symptom just moments before appearing on ITV’s lunchtime show Loose Women
The Loose Women panellist appeared on the ITV show today but said her last time on the programme was far more dramatic as she was left “panic stricken” after something unusual happened with her eye, just before she was due on the show.
Explaining what happened, Nadia said she was told by her optician to head straight to the hospital in a really “dramatic” couple of hours after the show’s morning meeting, but she has now received a diagnosis.
Speaking on the show today, she said: “I did the morning meeting, and rang the optician and said I’ve got this, this, this and they said leave now and go straight to A&E. It was really dramatic; I was really panic stricken actually because I thought I’d just go after the show. And then Gloria came in, because I was going to have to leave the show and there’s never been three Loose Women.
“And then Gloria came on the phone, and she said she had an eye surgeon who is a good friend. Anyway, she put me on the phone with a top eye surgeon who asked me more questions. He said it was ok, you can do the show, but then you’ve got to come to A&E straight afterwards,” which she did and headed there to check everything was ok.
She has now found out what was wrong, explaining: “The long and short of it is, I’ve got an ageing eye. They’re both ageing, the jelly’s coming off the back. I’ve got a microscopic haemorrhage. I know it’s microscopic but I don’t want a haemorrhage.”
Nadia also admitted she was worried about it but she is under good care. “It is worrying. It’ll be fine, I’ve had really good care. It’s amazing, the eye stops seeing what it doesn’t want to see and that will just disappear and the smearing will hopefully go,” she said.

Back in 2022, Nadia sparked fear amongst her fans when she shared a picture of her in a hospital bed. She wrote at the time: “The only reason I’m posting these pics is because I want to catch your eye and urge you if you have been worrying about any symptoms you’ve been experiencing to bite the bullet and get yourself seen. Delaying things will only cause more worry. I’m not going to lie I’ve been worried sick myself recently but was given the all clear on Monday! I only wish I had dealt with it earlier, so I didn’t get myself into such a pickle. Don’t delay make the call. Get seen. You know it makes sense. Big hugs, love Nads xxx.”
