A third source has come out and backed up the claims that Henry Cavill is indeed playing Wolverine in the MCU in Deadpool 3.

Giant Freakin Robot was the first to report the former Superman actor has jumped ship to Marvel and even offered his Wolverine will be wearing a long brown coat when he shows up in the film.

Following GFR, the CanWeGetSomeToast Twitter account, who is assumed to either work for Disney/Marvel or be a pro run PR account, then said they have a confirmation Henry Cavill is playing a Variant of Wolverine in the film.

GFR also said Henry’s appearance in Deadpool 3 is a one-off, which means Cavill could return to the MCU in another role. GFR previously said Henry could be playing Spider-Man UK who is a Multiverse version of Spider-Man and Captain Britain.

Of course, that also means another actor will be playing the MCU’s version of Wolverine when that happens and when Hugh Jackman is finally done with the role.

What does Source #3 say?

Regarding source #3, the claim Henry Cavill is Wolverine is also backed up by the Cryptic4KQual Twitter account who seems to post insider info in regards to trailer releases and such.

The account backs up the claim that Henry Cavill’s Wolverine will be wearing a long brown coat in Deadpool 3 and claims to have either seen footage or perhaps concept art.

“So I’ve basically already seen him then,” tweeted the account.

The account also tweeted info about Hugh Jackman’s yellow costume offering Jackman doesn’t wear the suit out of necessity but because he has a “symbolic attachment.”

Who is Henry Cavill playing in the MCU?

Regarding who Henry Cavill is playing in Deadpool 3, the Wolverine Variant I can think that fits with the description of wearing a long brown coat could be Old Man Logan.

Perhaps Henry is playing a more comic book accurate version of Old Man Logan briefly in Deadpool 3?

Deadpool & Wolverine gets released on July 26, 2024 directed by Shawn Levy. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.
