Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 3 receives exciting update from writer Joe Russo.

Joe Russo recently shared that the third Extraction film is indeed moving forward.

Director and writer Joe Russo recently shared an exciting update on the progress of the Netflix action sequel Extraction 3.

During an interview with GamesRadar at the Sands: International Film Festival in St Andrews, Scotland, Russo was asked about the status of the third instalment.

He revealed that they are currently awaiting the availability of star Chris Hemsworth before moving forward with the project. Russo also shared that he would be penning the screenplay for Extraction 3.

Russo said, “Yeah, we’re developing it at the moment, figuring out Chris’s schedule. Sam Hargrave is back directing.”

He continued, “It’s an interesting franchise because he’s a very emotionally wounded character, so there’s good storytelling there I think in respect to his backstory, and, you know, his relationship to violence is one that’s built around self-loathing and guilt. And so, it adds a lot of texture I think, which allows us to tell more stories about him.”

Extraction 3 was officially revealed during last year’s Netflix Tudum festival. Although specific plot details are still a mystery, it’s a safe bet to assume that the movie will feature Hemsworth’s valiant mercenary character, Tyler Rake, embarking on another daring rescue mission from dire circumstances.

In 2020, Netflix released the first Extraction movie, starring Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a skilled mercenary with a dangerous lifestyle.

Directed by Sam Hargrave, the film follows Rake as he embarks on a risky mission to save the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord.

Extraction 2, which came out last year, follows Rake as he takes on a new challenge: rescuing the family of a notorious crime boss from a heavily guarded prison in Georgia.

Both movies received acclaim from critics and audiences for their thrilling action sequences.

Netflix and the Russo Brothers are now looking to expand the franchise even further, building on its initial success.
