Former Love Island star Olivia Hawkins has slammed Casa Amor newcomer Diamanté Laiva for making “disgusting comments”.

The reality TV alum from series nine was not having any negativity when bombshell Diamanté, who briefly featured on this year’s series and locked lips with sweet salesman Sean Stone before his Casa Amor recoupling snub, branded fellow ex-Islander Jess White “a bully”.

During the recoupling, Diamanté and Jess clashed when the former laughed at Wil’s behaviour and the latter mistook it as her laughing at Uma. Jess was quick to slam Diamanté, telling her: “It’s not really funny, is it?” to which Diamanté answered: “Jess, don’t even.” Jess said: “It’s a bit mean, isn’t it? The poor girl’s nearly crying,” before Diamanté ended the conversation with: “Yeah, I’m not laughing at that. Just… you’re not one to talk. Just leave me alone, please.”

After leaving the villa, Diamanté took to a recent interview and stated: “If Jess was here right now I’d just tell her, ‘Listen, you’re not the prize, you’re a bully. You need to stop bullying people because it is not a good look. I don’t know if she feels like doing this is giving her props, but the girls in the villa are intimated by Jess and I don’t think that’s a good dynamic to have when you’re supposed to be getting along with people.”

But Olivia wasn’t standing for that, fiercely defending Jess against Diamanté’s accusations. Hitting back through her own words, she expressed: “So disgusted by this interview. Calling someone a bully on a big radio show can be so detrimental.” Olivia continued to argue: “There’s definitely better ways you can articulate yourself.”

Countering the negativity, she advocated for Jess and fellow Islanders, saying: “Jess and other Islanders don’t deserve the nasty treatment they’re getting.” She capped off her defence with a plea for understanding, reminding everyone: “Let’s not add fuel to the fire, especially someone who has been on the show and knows how it can be coming out.”

After Jess accused her of laughing at Uma when she learned that Wil wasn’t as loyal as she hoped, Diamanté put the claims to bed and said it was a misunderstanding. Someone asked her: “What made you laugh during the recoupling?”

Diamanté answered: “I’m going to respond to this question. I’m doing it right before bed, unedited, raw explanation. First of all, I was not laughing at Uma. I know things can be edited in a way that [dramatizes them], but I was laughing at the fact that obviously, being in Casa and seeing how all the boys were behaving. They were all very open [to getting to know us].

“And Wil [was] basically making excuses for his behaviour with Lucy, now that Uma was in the picture. At this time, I didn’t know Uma to be laughing at her. I didn’t have a reason to laugh at her. I feel like the hate comments are people misunderstanding the situation. So that’s why I’m not taking offence to them. It’s just something that needs to be cleared up. As far as Uma, no reason to laugh at her. I think she’s lovely. It was just Wil and his excuses.”
