Loose Women host forced to issue apology after Prue Leith swears live on ITV show

Loose Women star Ruth Langsford was forced to apologise after Prue Leith made a slip-up during Monday’s show

Loose Women host Ruth Langsford was forced to issue an apology after Prue Leith swore live on-air.

The Great British Bake Off judge appeared on Monday’s (April 14) edition of the hit ITV daytime show, where she spoke about her new cooking series, Prue Leith’s Cotswolds Kitchen.

The programme follows Prue as she cooks some of her all-time favourite dishes in her own kitchen in the Cotswolds.

She is joined by a variety of celebrity guests throughout the episodes, as well as her husband, John Playfair – who she married in 2016.

Addressing John’s cameo on the new show, Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan said: “What’s this I hear about your husband stealing your thunder a bit.”

Prue bluntly responded: “I’m seriously p***ed off,” which immediately elicited laughs from the studio audience.

Quickly realising that she had made a blunder, Prue then said: “Sorry, I’m sorry.”

“I do have to apologise for that slightly fruity language from our Dame, just in case anybody was offended,” Ruth interjected, as Prue continued to apologise.

Speaking about her husband’s appearance on her show, Prue said: “Honestly, the fact is he is such a charmer. I only let him onto the show because it’s his house and if we’re going to have a crew there for two weeks and the whole house taken over, it’s going to be a bit unfair.

“So, I thought if he was involved he wouldn’t mind all the cables and clutter and so on. Well, that was a mistake.”

The TV cook then explained that John has now started getting recognised in public, with several fans sharing their admiration for him in the supermarket.

“The best thing he does [on the show] is he goes off to find food heroes,” Prue added.

The second season of Prue Leith’s Cotswolds Kitchen returned to ITV last month, and features more snippets of the star’s secluded home life, as well as some star-studded guests.

The likes of Lulu, Kelly Brook, JB Gill, Lisa Hogan and Charlotte Church have appeared on the latest episodes.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
