Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s friend harshly criticized the way the Royal Family handled the crisis.
The younger Prince reportedly has been regretting not mending his relationship with his brother, but especially misses his sister-in-law, who was a dear friend to him. Still, he acknowledges that the reconciliation is up to his brother and his wife, and knows Meghan Markle should always be his priority.
Prince Harry Regrets Distancing Himself From Kate Middleton
InstarIt’s no secret that the relationship between Prince Harry and the Prince and Princess of Wales is strained, but while most people focused on the rift between the brothers, it seems the Duke of Sussex is especially sad about the damage to the bond he had with Kate Middleton.
According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Prince Harry regrets distancing himself from Kate Middleton, who he described in his memoir Spare as “the sister I’ve never had and always wanted.”
“I’m sure he must feel sad that he is estranged from two people who were once so important in his life [Prince William and Kate Middleton], but he must surely have come to accept that he is the one who has deepened the rift with his allegations, publications and revelations,” the former BBC royal correspondent said.
The younger Prince allegedly distanced himself from the Princess of Wales for Meghan Markle’s sake, and he regrets not having a good relationship with her anymore, but he knows he has to prioritize his wife no matter how much he cares about his sister-in-law.
“He probably does miss her but he has the woman who is the most important in his life and, understandably, he is prioritising Meghan over everyone and everything else,” Jennie Bond continued.
This is not the first time the relationship between Prince Harry and Kate Middleton has been analyzed. Royal author Tom Quinn compared the Prince’s feelings about his broken relationship with Kate with Princess Diana’s death.
“He really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, and he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to. Losing Kate was Harry’s second great loss after losing his mother.”
Royal Experts Think A Reconciliation Between The Princes Is Unlikely
InstarDespite the good relationship Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton once had, royal experts are not holding out hope that they will reconcile. At least not any time soon. A lot of people thought the difficult moment Kate Middleton is going through would provide the opportunity for them to rekindle their relationship, but it seems it’s having the opposite effect.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have too much on their plate right now, and a reconciliation with Prince Harry is reportedly the farthest thing from their minds.
Kate responded to fans who’ve been sending her well wishes as she and several other royals undergo treatment for cancer.
“I doubt that it even occurred to William to call or text his brother. In the maelstrom of emotion that must have engulfed his heart and head, there could be no room for a sibling who had cut so deeply into the flesh of their once close relationship,” royal expert Jennie Bond explained.
She also called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “irrelevant,” and says she doubts that “William has either the emotional strength or the inclination right now to deal with the painful baggage that such a meeting would bring.”
