BBC Breakfast host brutally shuts down Jon Kay with two-word comment

BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay was left red-faced after his co-star Sarah Campbell issued a two-word response to his bold claim about an ice cream van being swept out to sea

BBC Breakfast: Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell open the show

BBC Breakfast’s Sarah Campbell had a succinct reply to Jon Kay’s audacious statement.

The dynamic duo joined forces for the second time this week, delivering the day’s news to viewers on Tuesday (July 9).

In an unexpected twist, the 54 year old anchor shared that rescue teams in Cornwall were dispatched to salvage an ice cream van that had been carried out to sea. On Sunday (July 7), Padstow coastguard and RNLI lifeguards rushed to Harlyn Bay as the rising tide ensnared the vehicle.

Jon informed the audience that thankfully, the driver was not inside at the time, but lamented the loss of something else: “A lot of ice cream was and all the tasty contents have been lost to the waves. Oh dear,” he said with a hint of humour.

The father of three playfully suggested he might dive into the search himself, saying: “I might swim in that though. I’d like to go out for a swim and find free ice cream.”, reports the Express.

Sceptical of her colleague’s claim, Sarah retorted with a terse: “Yeah, alright.” Stepping into Sally Nugent’s shoes once more after her absence on Monday, Sarah co-hosted alongside Jon.

Typically, the 52 year old anchors the show from the red sofa from Monday to Wednesday with Jon Kay, but she is currently off for reasons not disclosed.
