Meghan Markle says Archie and Lilibet’s ‘British accent’ comes out in certain words

The Duchess of Sussex has made an appearance on Drew Barrymore’s chat show – and she also revealed the sweet way she stays connected with her children when she’s away

Meghan Markle has revealed the touching way she ‘shows up’ for her two children Archie and Lilibet when she is away from home.

The 43-year-old spoke about her family during an appearance on Drew Barrymore’s chat show, which will air later today following the release of her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

She told Drew: “I always make it a point when I’m travelling, if I can’t do bedtime stories with my kids… I’ll always pack a really thin book and I’ll videotape myself reading it. So whoever’s with them or Papa can say, ‘Here’s Mama reading your bedtime story.'”

Meghan continued: “You find ways to show up for each other and if that’s the one thing that I can convey through the show or through ‘As Ever’ as a brand, I want people to know you can show up for each other because you know how good it feels when someone shows up for you.

Elsewhere in the show, Drew asked her guest: “What’s your favorite thing that you see in your kids that you go, ‘Oh, that’s their dad’?”

With a smile, Meghan answered, “Oh, some of the words that they still say with a British accent. So they’ll say, ‘Zebra,’ and what else do they say? They have these little moments where it comes out. They have very American accents, but they say words that are just like him, and I think it’s adorable. Zebra is a good one

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their son Archie, now five, when they were still living in the U.K. They relocated to California in 2020, where Lilibet, now three, was born.

It comes after Meghan took to Instagram on Wednesday evening to thank fans for tuning in to her new Netflix series. The Duchess posted a snippet of the show on her Stories with the caption: “For more recipes, fun and reasons to ‘Mmmm’, check out the show – which in just 24 hours is already in the Top 10! Thank you to all of you around the world who are tuning in!” The message was posted alongside a heart emoji.

The series, which is Meghan’s first solo show for the streaming giant, entered the Netflix Top 10 in the UK and the US shortly after it was released around the world. However, the show has already fallen out of the prestigious ranking in both countries.
