Relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, has been on a number of outings with GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes in the last 12 months and has told friends she doesn’t want to be seen as a ‘marriage wrecker”

The supportive woman comforting Eamonn Holmes after his marriage split has told friends she is in for “the long haul”.

Relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, has been on a number of outings with the GB News presenter in the last 12 months as well as being pictured at his home.

It is thought she hopes their close friendship could now become a long term relationship in the coming months. In recent weeks she has been helping Eamonn through the split from Ruth, but her friends are at pains to point out that their friendship has only grown close once the marriage was over.

One source close to Katie said: “She is helping Eamonn through the tough times but doesn’t want to be seen as a marriage wrecker. The friendship has grown in recent months but Eamonn’s marriage has been over for some time. She wants to help Eamonn with his situation and their friendship has grown over a period of time. She feels she will be close to him for a long period and is in this for the long haul.”

In May it emerged Eamonn and Ruth have split after 14 years of marriage and are to divorce. Cracks had started to appear in their relationship and they had not been photographed together for two years.

Katie is a mother-of-three and a marriage counsellor. She was spotted driving to and from his luxury flat last week and was named at the weekend as someone helping him through the pain of an impending divorce.

According to reports, former This Morning host Eamonn moved out of his marital home in Surrey last month after wife Ruth Langsford found messages between him and another mystery woman on a laptop.

Katie met Eamonn on X formerly known as Twitter in 2015 after she commented on a post and it sparked a conversation. Last October he attended a charity fund raising event in Yorkshire — close to Katie’s home — and became a patron. The counsellor has worked for the charity as a therapist.

As well as his marriage breakdown, Eamonn has problems walking – and has been suffering chronic back pain for almost two years. Speaking in January the presenter said the “harsh reality” could be that he may never be able to walk alone again unaided.

Discussing his woes, he said: “It’s as if somebody up there is playing with my life. In the past year I’ve had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I’ve fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up.” He added: “I have tried every treatment, but you go, ‘Maybe I’ll never get out of it,’ which is a harsh reality to face.”Eamonn and Ruth met in 1997 when they were introduced by mutual friends and they then dated for over a decade before Eamonn popped the question and they married in 2010.
