Meghan Markle’s new business venture may see her competing with Kate Middleton’s brother’s company.

The Duchess of Sussex delighted fans earlier this month when she unveiled an Instagram page that appeared to confirm her intention to launch a new lifestyle brand from her California home. And American Riviera Orchard could be set to be flogging, among other things, dog treats and chicken feed.

It’s been reported Meghan, 42, has attempted to trademark the initials of her new business.

Documents sent to the US Patent and Trademark Office say she wants to use her brand for “Pet food; Edible pet treats; Bird seed”.

Meanwhile Kate’s brother, James Middleton, has his own fancy dog food company called James and Ella, which means the pair could be facing off in the business market, reports the Mirror.

James’, who launched his firm after finding therapy from his own pet, Ella, after a battle with depression, sells different kinds of dog food like freeze-dried raw, kibble, and cold-pressed.

On his website, he says: “When I reached the other side, I set out on a mission to make their lives just as happy and as healthy as they’ve made mine, starting with the food they eat.”

He adds: “I’ve pulled together a team of industry experts and nutritionists. Together, we developed a range of food that contains all the ingredients and nutrition for dogs to live a long and happy life, but without any hassle.”
