Their reunion was a love story fans adored. Eddie was calm where her world was chaotic, gentle where her life had been sharp, and he grounded her in ways she didn’t know she needed.

But heartbreak found her again.

In 2021, Eddie died from lung cancer after a long and difficult battle — a loss that shattered Jane just three years after she had also lost her mother.

Her grief was immeasurable.

“I still cry,” she admitted. “But if Eddie and my mum are looking down, I know they wouldn’t want me drowning in tears.”

She spent months in silence, grieving away from cameras, away from the world.

Even though Jane once believed motherhood might one day find her, she now understands that her life took a different path — one filled with love, loss, travel, adventure, and millions of people who have been touched by her work.

But the truth remains painful.

“I didn’t choose not to have children,” she said softly. “Life chose for me.”

Her health scare made pregnancy unsafe. Her marriage wasn’t strong enough to survive the pressure. And her final great love — the man she might have built a family with — was taken too soon.

Yet Jane speaks with a profound sense of acceptance.

“I haven’t failed,” she said. “I just lived a different kind of life.”
