Vogue speaks out, insisting that Brooklyn was the one who invited his mother to dance — directly contradicting his claim that he was “forced” into it
The drama surrounding Brooklyn Beckham and his family shows no sign of cooling, as Vogue’s official account of his wedding to Nicola Peltz appears to directly contradict one of his most shocking allegations.
In his blistering six-page online statement, Brooklyn claimed his mother Victoria Beckham “hijacked” what was meant to be his first romantic dance with his wife on their wedding day, leaving him feeling humiliated in front of hundreds of guests.
However, the version of events published by Vogue after the couple’s lavish April 2022 nuptials paints a very different picture.

According to Vogue, the newlyweds’ official first dance took place as planned, set to South African singer Lloyiso’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love. The magazine explained that the reception followed traditional American customs, including separate mother-and-son and father-and-daughter dances later in the evening.
Vogue went on to state that close family friend Marc Anthony took to the stage around 11pm to perform I Need To Know. It was during this moment, the publication claims, that Brooklyn himself invited his mother onto the dancefloor, before they were joined by his father David and younger sister Harper.

That account sits in stark contrast to Brooklyn’s own words. In his statement, he insisted that Marc Anthony unexpectedly called him onto the stage at a moment that had been scheduled for a romantic dance with Nicola, only for his mother to be waiting there instead. He alleged Victoria then danced “very inappropriately” on him, describing the moment as embarrassing and distressing.
The fallout from the claim has been enormous, with fans fiercely debating whose version of events to believe. Brooklyn has since doubled down, saying the experience was so upsetting that he and Nicola later chose to renew their vows without his family present, in order to create happier memories free from anxiety.

The wedding dance row is just one of a series of allegations Brooklyn has levelled at his parents. He has accused David and Victoria of valuing “Brand Beckham” over family, attempting to control his life, and even pressuring him to sign away the rights to his name. He has also claimed Victoria pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the “eleventh hour” — another assertion that clashes with Vogue’s reporting and comments from Nicola’s stylist at the time.
As Vogue’s account resurfaces, it adds yet another layer of confusion and controversy to an already bitter family feud — and raises fresh questions about which version of one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of recent years is actually true.
