MONEY TALKS: Carol Kirkwood’s BBC Breakfast Salary ‘Revealed’ As She Quits Show

Carol Kirkwood made the huge announcement that she is quitting the BBC after 25 years, as she appeared on BBC Breakfast to share the news. She said in a statement: “It’s been an absolute privilege to bring you the weather every day. My job is something I’ve never taken for granted and I’ve loved every minute! From early starts and all manner of forecasts, I’ve shared it with incredible colleagues at BBC Breakfast, BBC Weather and programmes across the BBC. I’d like to thank them for their support and friendship which has meant the world.
“And to those watching and listening at home – thank you for all the kindness you have shown me over the years, being part of your mornings has been a joy. This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but it feels like the right moment to step away. I’ll carry with me the most wonderful memories.” Carol’s replacement is yet to be confirmed, but the weather has star has been earning a hefty salary for years, thanks to her long tenure at the broadcaster.

Her precise salary is yet to be confirmed, but it is thought her salary is under £150,000, given her yearly omission from the BBC‘s annual salary report.
Carol initially joined the BBC in 1993 as a freelance reporter before transitioning into weather presenting, completing her training at the Met Office. She subsequently joined BBC News as a weather presenter in 1998.
Since then, Carol has become a familiar fixture on British television screens, going on to present the weather each morning on BBC Breakfast. Carol has previously expressed her passion for meteorology.
In a previous nterview with The Times, she enthused: “It really is a fascinating subject – in Britain, it changes all the time, and as a nation, we are obsessed with it.”
She added: “The importance of getting information out about severe weather just ups the ante.”
Carol emphasised: “We know how vital that information is to our audiences, and how it can impact them.”
Presenting the weather isn’t without its challenges, as the BBC Breakfast star explained: “I adored the challenge of having nothing behind me – running my finger down an invisible front that would magically appear on the screen.”
