Katie Price’s Christmas Gift Left Her Mum in Tears and Gave Her a New Lease on Life After Years of Battling a Terminal Illness

Reality TV star Katie Price left fans in floods of tears after sharing a deeply emotional update about her mum, Amy, following a Christmas gift that has transformed her daily life.

The 47-year-old, who has always been openly close to her mother, revealed she surprised Amy, 73, with a mobility scooter — a gesture that brought overwhelming emotion to the family as Amy continues to battle Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a terminal lung disease diagnosed in 2017.

In a festive highlights video uploaded to her YouTube channel after Christmas 2025, Katie captured the poignant moment she taught her mum how to use the scooter, gently guiding her through driving forwards and backwards. Amy, whose mobility has become increasingly limited over the years, admitted she felt nervous about navigating around others — but Katie calmly reassured her that lifting her foot would immediately stop the scooter.

Asked if she liked the gift, Amy beamed and replied that she loved it. She was especially delighted by the scooter’s lights, with Katie revealing she had also bought her furry gloves to keep her hands warm while out and about. Overcome with emotion, Amy broke down in tears, thanking her daughter for what she described as a truly life-changing present.

In one particularly moving moment, Amy said she felt the scooter would open up new possibilities for her, before becoming too emotional to finish her sentence. Katie rushed to comfort her, wrapping her arms around her mum and asking whether the new wheels would give her more freedom — a question Amy answered with an emotional nod.

Speaking directly to the camera, Katie later said everyone in the family had been happy that Christmas — but stressed that her mum deserved it most. She explained that the scooter could travel over 12 miles on a full charge and would allow Amy to enjoy outings again, including trips to the beach in summer.

The footage struck a powerful chord with fans, who flooded Katie’s comments section with emotional messages. Many admitted they cried alongside Amy, praising Katie for showing a kinder, more compassionate side rarely seen in headlines.

Earlier this year, Katie also spoke candidly about the challenges Amy faces following a lung transplant, explaining how frustrating it has been for her mum to feel mentally sharp but physically limited. Amy herself shared her hope of regaining enough strength to walk more independently by the summer.
