“I’VE BEEN WORKING SINCE I WAS 15… I’VE NEVER HAD A HOLIDAY. PLEASE LET ME BE A KID ONE LAST TIME.” Stephen — the quiet strategist who just made history on The Traitors — has left thousands in tears after confirming he has officially quit his job the moment filming ended. Not out of arrogance. Not laziness. But exhaustion. “I worked two jobs throughout university. I never allowed myself a single day to stop,” Stephen Libby admitted, his voice breaking. “This is the only chance I’ve ever had to breathe.” After a decade of grinding simply to survive, Stephen says winning The Traitors didn’t just give him prize money — it gave him time, something he’s never had before. For the “wee boy” from the Isle of Lewis, this victory isn’t about fame or fortune. It’s about rest. Healing. And finally allowing himself to be young — just once.

And it turns out his plan was always to get Faithfuls on side with his colourful and stylish outfit choices.

The 32-year-old from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis now tells The Mail on Sunday why fans won’t be able to replicate his ensembles.

The cyber security consultant shared: ‘Everything that I wore there was pretty much already owned, there were one or two things that I got for going up, but this is the kind of stuff I wear day to day anyway. I didn’t really make a conscious effort to kind of build a wardrobe.

‘Most of my clothes are vintage, so I mean that’s my way of saying you’ll never have them yourselves,’ Stephen added with a smirk on his face.

The internet couldn’t get enough of the Harry Styles-inspired blue and orange jumpsuit Stephen wore during episode eight. It appears to be from Palomo Spain’s Tiburón collection from spring 2022, and Harry wore a customised version of it for his gig at the Capital FM Summertime Ball that same year.

Other iconic looks Stephen wore in Ardross Castle included an eye-catching red kilt, chic knitwear, wide trousers and block colours.

Stephen admitted that he selected his flamboyant wardrobe to distract from his red face, and his game plan worked a treat as he scooped £47,875 during Friday’s tense final.

He added: ‘I just love fashion and I love clothing and I think actually it’s a really good way of kind of getting people to let their guard down around you in terms of how you look.

‘I think it did help distract from the face and the facial expressions and kind of kept people’s eyes down.’

Stephen and Rachel Duffy became the first duo of Traitors to triumph, despite fans being convinced Rachel would betray her friend to secure the entire prize pot.

The pair remained loyal from the very beginning, with Stephen making a selfless decision at the final hurdle despite knowing Jack Butler would vote Rachel out. Instead, both stuck to a pact they made at the family tree not to turn on each other, and they split the money.

Stephen opened up about his sexuality on the show and said he has been ‘overwhelmed’ by the supportive messages he has received.

‘Always having to hide a part of myself, I think you carry that with you. I was in the closet until I was in my early 20s, and so there is that duality to your personality that you’ve got to carry with you. And I think that maybe helped somewhat in being a traitor because you have to be able to switch between these two people,’ he said.

Reacting to the final scenes and how he came across throughout the series, he added: ‘I’m so happy with how I managed to play the game with my integrity and heart still at the core of everything I did.

‘I’m really proud of myself.’

The series finale averaged 9.4m with a peak of 9.6m and an audience share of 54.9 per cent. This is the biggest overnight audience across the market since the final episode of The Celebrity Traitors in November 2025 and makes it the most watched overnight audience of the civilian version of the series ever.

Stephen’s social media platforms have blown up during his stint on the show, and he now has over 283k Instagram followers.

Stephen confirmed to The Mail on Sunday that he quit his cyber security job at the end of 2025, and he is set for a successful showbusiness career.

When asked if his bosses were scared he would hand in his notice following his success on the BBC show, he replied: ‘They’re not worried anymore because I already handed it in!

‘I’ve worked since I was 15 and I’ve worked hard. I worked two jobs all the way through University and I never took a gap year, so this for me is an opportunity to just take a wee break and that really is all it is. I just want to relax for a bit and give myself a bit of time.’

His partner, Daniel Quirke, is an actor and Stephen is also close pals with popular comedian Lou Sanders, but he admitted the showbiz world is, ‘completely unknown to me’.

Stephen added: My partner is an actor, and I know people who have careers in this kind of industry, but that’s not me and it’s not my life. And it isn’t something that I know anything about.

‘I would love to just make sure that in the future I’m doing something that genuinely makes me happy. I’ve never hated my job in cyber security, but it’s not something that I feel passionate about.

‘I’ve got lots of things that I feel passionate about, and I would be a very lucky boy if I could work in one of those areas, because it’s not something that everyone gets to do.

‘When this all settles down a little bit, I’ll sit with myself and think, “what is it that would make me really happy?”’
