“I WANT MY MUM…” — James Bulger’s K!ll3:rs Reveal Toddler’s Final Words in Harrowing Clip That Has Reopened Old Wounds

Harrowing recordings of James Bulger’s killers features the two ten year old boys speaking to police about what the toddler said to them before he was murdered

A harrowing new documentary about the death of toddler James Bulger features testimony from killers Jon Venables and Robert Thompson as they spoke to police about conversations with their victim.

In 1993, the nation was shocked to hear of the chilling case in which two ten-year-old boys, Venables and Thompson, kidnapped two-year-old James before leading him to his death.

In new interview tapes, that feature as part of a 60 Minutes Australia documentary about the murder, Robert can be heard imitating James’ voice as he was questioned by police. The killer then reveals that some of James’ final words were as he asked for his mum.

The clip features cops asking the 10-year-old: “What did he say to you?”

Before Robert replied: “I want my mum.”

It was over 28 years ago that Venables and Thompson abducted little James from a shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside after he briefly let go of his mum’s hand.

The 10-year-old boys were then captured in CCTV leading the youngster by his hand away from the shopping centre before brutally torturing and murdering the tot and leaving his body by a railway line.

The brutal killing sent shockwaves around the world, as Venables and Thompson became the youngest convicted murders in modern British history.

Both were found guilty of the heinous crime, with the judge at their trial in November 1993 branding James’ murder an act of “unparalleled evil and barbarity.”

The new Australian documentary will shed light on the harrowing case as well as the impact it has had upon James’ heartbroken family. Another recording in the documentary features Jon tell the police: “It was Robert’s idea to kill him.”

In another clip, James’ devastated mum Denise Fergus says: “I shouldn’t have let go of his hand.”

“That was the biggest mistake of my life. I shouldn’t have let go.”

The child killers were given eight years behind bars for the vicious murder before both were released in 2001 with new identities.

It was reported earlier this year that Thompson has not re-offended since his release at the age of 18 and is said to be in a relationship with a man, who knows his real identity.

However, Venables has had several prison stints since and has been given a new identity a number of times. He is currently serving a 40-month sentence that was handed to him in 2018 after he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children for a second time.
