Fiancé walks away, Jesy Nelson leans on her mother as she steps out with her twins for the first time since revealing their heartbreaking health diagnosis

Jesy Nelson has been pictured stepping out with her twin daughters for the first time since revealing their devastating medical diagnosis — with her mother Janice by her side for support.

The former Little Mix star, 34, was seen pushing a double pram during a quiet walk in Essex, marking her first public outing with eight-month-old twins Ocean and Story since confirming they have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1), a rare and severe neuromuscular condition.

The emotional appearance comes just days after it emerged that Jesy has also split from her fiancé, Zion Foster, with sources insisting the pair are now fully focused on co-parenting their daughters.

Earlier this month, Jesy bravely shared that Ocean and Story were not tested for SMA at birth because the screening is not yet routine in the UK — something she believes could have changed their future. She heartbreakingly admitted that if the condition had been detected earlier, she may have had the chance to “save their legs”.

Speaking on This Morning, Jesy explained that her daughters may rely on wheelchairs for life and currently need round-the-clock care. Overcome with emotion, she said no parent should ever have to face such a situation when early testing and treatment could make a life-changing difference.

Her campaign reached Westminster this week when she met Health Secretary Wes Streeting, leaving him visibly emotional as she pleaded for SMA testing to be added to routine newborn screening.

Jesy told him that families have been “screaming and shouting” about SMA for years, questioning why it took her platform and public profile for the issue to finally be taken seriously. She stressed that with life-changing treatments now available, it is “madness” that SMA is still not included in the heel-prick test given to newborn babies.

Wes admitted he had not fully understood the scale of the issue before hearing Jesy’s story, but vowed to be “a dog with a bone” in pushing for faster and wider screening. Although a national evaluation is under way, it is not expected to conclude until 2028 — a timeline Jesy fears could mean many more families face the same heartbreak.

Despite the personal strain, Jesy and Zion are said to remain united as parents. Zion recently shared a deeply moving poem on Instagram reflecting on acceptance, love and learning to let go of fear, while publicly praising Jesy as a mother and calling for urgent change to SMA screening in the UK.
