But Alanis more than likely wasn’t just a name chosen by the star-studded couple because it sounded beautiful.
A fan on X connected some dots and believes the name actually holds far deeper meaning for Perrie, because she auditioned on the X Factor in 2011 singing You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette.
Another also pointed out on instagram: “Perrie has said she loves Alanis Morrisette and if she had a daughter she would name her Alanis.”
Perrie was only a teen when she blew the judges away on the iconic X Factor stage belting out Alanis’ lyrics with her powerful voice.
Though she didn’t end up making it as a soloist as hoped her strong audition kept her in the judge’s minds, so they ultimately put her through alongside three other girls – Jade, Leigh-Anne, and Jesy – to form what would later become Little Mix.
Canadian-American songstress Alanis first hit the charts in the mid 1990s thanks to the success of her album Jagged Little Pill.
The iconic album is one of the best selling records of all time and featured hit singles You Oughta Know, Ironic and You Learn.
The tracks earned her multiple nominations at the Grammy awards and global fame.
To date Alanis has sold more than 60 million records worldwide and has received numerous accolades including a Brit Award, seven Grammy Awards, and fourteen Juno Awards.
Perrie revealed that she was pregnant back in September by posting a heartwarming black and white video to Instagram.
In the clip, she was seen walking with her back to the camera wearing a cropped custom t-shirt.
The caption on the back read: “If he wanted to, he would …” – the name of one of Perrie’s solo tracks.
She then turned round to reveal her growing bump, and the caption on the front read: “…And he did.”
Alex then came into the shot, hugging Perrie and kissing her on the cheek before their son Axel, 4, hugged his mum’s belly.
The birth follows a series of two devastating miscarriages for the couple.
Perrie, 32, evealed they had suffered a devastating miscarriage before they had Axel, and lost another baby at 24 weeks in 2022.
Alex recently spoke about their struggle in a rare interview.
He said during his interview with The Athletic: “It definitely helped that we had Axel to focus on, but it was obviously difficult.
“It took a while for us to get to the place where we felt, ‘OK, should we try this again?’
