Trooping the Colour took place on June 14
Prince George had a standout moment during this year’s Trooping the Colour as he seemingly helped King Charles identify a passing aircraft during the royal family’s appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
As the RAF flypast roared overhead at the conclusion of the king’s official birthday parade on Saturday (June 14), the royal family watched in awe while trying to name the various aircraft soaring above.
According to professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman, 11-year-old George confidently stepped up to assist his grandfather.

Jeremy told The Mirror: “King Charles interrupted a conversation between Prince William and Princess Kate to ask, ‘What is that?’ while they were looking skyward.”
According to Jeremy, William replied: “Errr… is that a Poseidon?” before turning to his son for confirmation. Without hesitation, George reportedly replied: “It’s a Poseidon, yeah.”
The sweet exchange between generations delighted royal fans and showcased George’s growing knowledge and interest in aviation.
The royal family has a proud tradition of flying, and it looks like George is next in line.
George’s aviation curiosity is no surprise to royal insiders. Last year, he reportedly took his very first flying lesson at an airfield near Windsor.
One onlooker at the airfield told The Sun: “He loved it. It’s the right time to start. The royal family has a proud tradition of flying, and it looks like George is next in line. His parents watched George take flight from the safety of the ground. But he flew with an instructor and loved it.”
Prince William previously trained and served as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot.
He has clearly passed down his fascination with aircraft to his children. George’s quick-fire response during Trooping the Colour suggests he’s paying attention.

Elsewhere during the flypast on Saturday, Prince Louis stole hearts, dressed in a matching red tie and navy suit just like George.
The seven-year-old was seen chatting with William and waving enthusiastically to the crowds below.
In another sweet moment, Louis delighted fans as he was spotted watching his father, Prince William, with pride.
As William rode on horseback in the military parade, Kate followed behind in a carriage with George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Upon arrival at Horse Guards Parade, a touching moment was captured on film – Louis standing in a doorway, peeking out to watch William in uniform as he walked past.
The snap was posted on X, where royal fans gushed over the candid moment.
“Love Prince Louis watching in the background,” one wrote. Another fan called it “such a beautiful picture”.
A third added: “Prince Louis watching Papa very carefully.”
The flypast itself was also historic, not just for the royal family moments, but for its sustainability milestone.
For the first time ever, the Red Arrows’ finale performance was powered in part by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and their signature red, white, and blue trails were created using vegetable oil.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed that while King Charles was not directly involved in the flypast’s planning, he was “delighted” by the sustainable effort.
