The video has gathered a lot of attention…
The royal family’s Instagram account responded to a video of TV stars Jamie Laing and his wife Sophie Habboo doing the viral “baby mama” dance that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did.
To celebrate daughter Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday on June 4, Meghan released a throwback video of her dancing in hospital. It was to the 2021 viral “baby mama” social media trend while she was in labour. The video caused a huge stir online. Both Meghan and Harry faced massive amounts of criticism for it.
However, weeks later and it seems it is still on people’s minds as Made In Chelsea star Jamie and his pregnant wife Sophie posted their own hospital video seemingly poking fun at the whole situation. And the royal family’s social media account responded!

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s video ‘mocking’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Since Meghan’s video was posted earlier this month, the royal family hasn’t publicly acknowledged it.
The clip showed a pregnant Meghan and husband Harry shaking their hips to the song while in hospital.
But at the time, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Royal Insider that it “confirmed” the family’s view that both Meghan and Harry are “far too erratic to be trusted”.
British reality TV stars Jamie and Sophie recently announced they are expecting their first child together, after reportedly being in a relationship since 2019. The couple married in 2023.
On Wednesday (June 25), both Jamie and Sophie were at Buckingham Palace for a reception to celebrate The King’s Trust. But one of the rules they were given was no photography in the palace. And they happily broke it to post a hilarious video.
Standing on a long red-carpeted staircase which is believed to lead to the State Rooms, flanked by royal portraits, Jamie and Sophie took the opportunity to record a video.
They used the same “Baby Mama” song as Meghan did in her dancing video.
What did the royal family say about the Jamie Laing and Sophie hospital video?
Jamie clearly knew he was breaking the rules as he captioned the Instagram post: “They said we couldn’t film in Buckingham Palace…”
And on the video, he added the text: “The royal baby has arrived.”
But the royal family’s social media page saw the video and couldn’t help but comment. They jokingly penned: “We see you,” with an eye and a winking emoji.
The King’s Trust social media also caught the video and shared their own views. They penned: “All of our attendees are very well behaved,” with the eye and laughing emojis.
The response from the social media teams show that the royal family wasn’t too bothered about Jamie and Sophie filming on the premises.
Meanwhile, fans couldn’t help but comment on the clip and compared it to Meghan and Harry’s video.
One person said: “When you get to do it at the palace but Harry and Meghan couldn’t.”
Another wrote: “Are you mocking Markle?” followed by a laughing face emoji.
Someone else added: “Hahahaahahahaha!!! Meghan…. eat that!” [Sic]
Jamie and Sophie accused of ‘breaking protocols’
Meanwhile, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold has shared his opinion on Jamie and Sophie’s video. He warned they may never get invited back to the palace after their “serious breach of protocols”.
Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino, Grant said: “Jamie and Sophie’s video is a serious breach of protocols – you are not allowed to film in royal residences. In fact, when I was there, if we caught someone doing it, we would take their phone off them, get the police and security, go through the phone and delete any interior photographs.
“It’s quite serious, it’s a definite breach. It’s quite possible that they might never get invited back on the basis that the breach took place. There’s always official photographers there, so official photos will be taken. However, no personal photography can be done. The rules may have changed, but they were very much the rules when I was there. It will be a serious thing.”
He added: “With that being said, people have broken protocol for years – from filming things to putting their hands on the royals when they’re not supposed to. People do things wrong all the time, and protocol often gets breached.
“I’m also sure people have taken the odd little thing from the palace over the years. I remember once being told that someone had stolen a decoration off a Christmas tree.”
Royal Insider has contacted reps for Buckingham Palace for comment.

What has Meghan Markle said about her dancing video?
It comes after Meghan addressed her dancing video following much backlash.
The duchess was appearing on a podcast with host Emma Grede. She seemingly defended her decision to post the footage, and explained her reasons.
She told Emma: “You have to be authentic. Did you see my Baby Mama dance? That wasn’t yesterday. That was four years ago.
“It’s a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there is still a whole life. A real, authentic, fun life that is happening behind the scenes. I’m just grateful that now being back on social media, I have a place I can share it on my own terms.”
