Charles and Diana apparently disagreed over keeping William and Harry grounded
Princess Diana and the then Prince Charles appeared to have different approaches to parenting William and Harry.
Because of this, the former couple were said to have disagreed over how to properly bring them up. Especially, when it came to keeping them grounded.
One aspect of their rearing that Charles wasn’t fond of was William and Harry having pocket money.

Princess Diana ‘gave William and Harry pocket money’
In a clip shared by History Overdosed on Instagram showing an extract of an undisclosed documentary, a presenter can be heard explaining Diana gave William and Harry pocket money.
They said: “She would give the boys a little bit of pocket money. So they could go in [the shop], and buy sweets for themselves.
“And just get used to interacting as normal people do. And she said that: ‘Charles thinks that I am overdoing it.’”
Widely circulated footage of Diana and a young Harry leaving a small shop could be seen in the clip.
These claims have been confirmed by a number of other royal experts and observers.

King Charles ‘didn’t understand’ Diana’s approach
Leslie Carroll, the author of the American Princess: The Love Story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, told Vanity Fair why Charles and Diana clashed over the pocket money.
She said: “Diana gave them pocket change so they would understand how ‘normal’ people lived. Because Charles never gave the boys money and didn’t understand why they needed it.”
Diana also tried to keep her sons grounded by involving them in her charity work.
Speaking on the Channel 5 documentary Diana: Queen of Hearts, royal biographer Andrew Morton said Diana took William and Harry to private charity visits from a young age.
He said: “One of the reasons was she didn’t want the boys to grow up thinking the whole world was 4×4 range rovers, shotguns, and nannies.”
Diana introduced William and Harry to charity work
Diana’s former private secretary, Patrick Jephson, also claimed: “She spoke to them about her charitable work but with the intention, I think, of preparing them for the fact that for the rest of their lives they were going to be doing humanitarian work, and that it wouldn’t be pretty.”
Less than 10 years after the untimely death of Princess Diana, Prince William took up one of her former patronages, Centrepoint.
In 2008, the now Prince of Wales recalled his first visit to Centrepoint as he marked its 40th anniversary.
William’s work for Centrepoint
William said: “That example of selfless service that Centrepoint represents has stayed with me, and that is why it was the first charity that I wanted to be associated with.
“The extraordinary courage of so many of Centrepoint’s young people in rising to meet such seemingly insurmountable challenges in their lives.”
