Ozzy Osbourne dead: Sharon’s statement in full as family announce tragic news!

Ozzy Osbourne’s wife Sharon Osbourne and his children have announced that the Black Sabbath member died earlier today, just weeks after his farewell concert in Birmingham

The family of Ozzy Osbourne have announced that he died, aged 76, today, less than three weeks after his farewell concert with Black Sabbath. His wife Sharon Osbourne and four of his children issued a joint statement this evening.

Ozzy’s family said that he was “surrounded by love” when he died this morning. The statement was signed by Sharon, 72, whom he married in 1982, and their three children Aimee Osbourne, Jack Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne.

The late musician, who appeared with some of his family on the reality TV show the Osbournes, also had two kids, Jessica Osbourne and Louis Osbourne, with his first wife Thelma Riley. Louis was named in the family’s statement.

The statement from his family read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Tributes have been paid to Ozzy by fans following the news of his death. One wrote on X: “Well the world lost another Legend today … my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Ozzy Osbourne.” Another said: “The world just lost a heavy metal icon in Ozzy Osbourne. RIP Ozzy. You’ll be missed.”

Sharing their thoughts, another fan said: “RIP Ozzy Osbourne! It was amazing listening to your music all these years.” Someone else wrote in response to the news today: “End of an Era. Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76. RIP.”

Whilst one person wrote on the platform: “Just been told that Ozzy Osbourne has passed away. An absolute legend in Rock music. Not just as an individual artist but part of the highly acclaimed Black Sabbath. RIP Ozzy Osbourne thank you for not just the memories but the music.”

Ozzy, who has experienced health issues over the years, made his final appearance on stage just over two weeks ago. He performed at Villa Park stadium in Birmingham on July 5 as part of the star-studded Back to the Beginning concert.

The sold-out charity event, which had been announced in February, marked the reunion of Ozzy and his former bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, who are the original members of the band Black Sabbath. It had also been described as Ozzy’s “final performance” before retirement.

It was announced last week that the gig in his hometown is set to be turned into a film. Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow, due to be released next year, is expected to include various highlights and behind-the-scenes footage.

The upcoming film has been described as a “love letter” to Ozzy. It was revealed that the theatrical release “will be a distilled version of the epic all-day event,” with backstage access and interviews teased to be included in it too.
