The duchess will be recognised for her advocacy
Meghan Markle will take centre stage at the Natural History Museum’s Night of Wonder gala, which will honour her for her community-driven work.
PEOPLE has revealed that the Duchess of Sussex, 43, will be honoured at the Night of Wonder gala hosted by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) on June 14.
It marks the same day as Trooping the Colour in the UK – a military parade which celebrates King Charles’ official birthday. Senior members of the royal family will attend the event in London.

Meghan Markle honoured at Natural History Museum gala
The star-studded evening, inspired by the magic of an enchanted garden after dark, will take place at NHM’s Exposition Park location.
Meghan will deliver remarks at the gala, which recognises her work advocating for women and underserved communities.
These causes align with the museum’s mission to make science, nature and education accessible for all.
“We are proud to honour Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” said Lori Bettison-Varga, President and Director of NHMLAC. “She’s a native Angeleno whose work to advance community wellbeing and expand opportunity, especially for underserved communities, aligns with our equity-focused approach to developing science literacy for the next generation, including through our STEM and STEAM Pathways programs.”
The evening will include immersive exhibits, live music and a garden dinner experience.
Attendees will include leaders from LA’s cultural, scientific, and philanthropic communities.

Meghan Markle’s life in California
Since stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have been steadily building their US presence while raising their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, who just turned 4 on June 4.
The family is based in Montecito. However, Meghan and Harry have become increasingly active in the LA scene, balancing public appearances with family time.
This upcoming gala is just the latest in a string of high-profile appearances for Meghan, who has had a busy year professionally.
We are proud to honour Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
In addition to launching her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast with Lemonada Media and releasing her lifestyle show With Love, Meghan on Netflix, she recently unveiled her lifestyle brand As Ever, which sold out its debut batch of products within 45 minutes.
The duchess also returned to Instagram earlier this year. She has since shared glimpses of her life in California.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Fast Company, Meghan also teased that there’s much more to come.
“My heart is very deeply in my home,” she said. “Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden.”
As for whether a fashion line might be part of her growing empire, Meghan didn’t rule it out. “The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date,” she noted. “It’s an interesting space for me.”
Meghan on the struggles of running a business
In a bonus podcast episode of her podcast released this week, Meghan also opened up about the challenges of running a business.
Speaking to famous matriarch and Cécred vice chairperson Tina Knowles, mother of singer Beyoncé, the duchess agreed that the behind-the-scenes challenges are what make or break a business.
“They see all the flashy stuff, and they see the product,” Meghan said. “But that end game… those behind-the-scenes moments, how many tears I’ve shed.”
