Max Verstappen could make history at Silverstone by equalling Lewis Hamilton’s record for most British Grand Prix wins, while also chasing multiple other milestones in one of the most anticipated races of the 2025 season. Will Hamilton’s dominance on home soil finally face its biggest threat yet?

The British Grand Prix is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar and could be the place where a number of F1 records are broken.

Silverstone hosted the first ever F1 race back in 1950 and has been a mainstay on the calendar ever since, producing some classic moments throughout the years.

The 3.6-mile circuit has a lot of history, with each of the 18 corners at Silverstone having its own name.

Lewis Hamilton broke the record for most wins at a single circuit with his win in 2024 for Mercedes, and now he is looking to add to his tally of records this weekend.

Max Verstappen could equal Lewis Hamilton’s Grand Slam record

While players at Wimbledon will be hoping to progress through one of the most prestigious Grand Slams of the year, Max Verstappen has the opportunity to equal Hamilton’s record of most Grand Slams in a Grand Prix weekend.

This includes earning pole, leading every lap, setting the fastest lap and winning the race. At the moment, Hamilton is on six, while Verstappen is currently on five in his career.

Hamilton also has the opportunity to become the first driver to win 10 times at a single circuit, having won the British GP nine times so far in his career.

A podium for Hamilton would also see him extend his record for most podiums at a single circuit to 16 at Silverstone.

Oscar Piastri currently leads the Drivers’ Championship by 15 points and can become the first driver since Jack Brabham in 1959 to lead the title race after eight races.

Max Verstappen currently holds the lap record around Silverstone

Verstappen currently holds the lap record of a 1:27.097 around Silverstone, having set it during the 2020 British GP.

The Dutchman set it on Lap 52 of the race which was held behind closed doors, as it was during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was done while he was chasing Hamilton for the victory, who suffered a tyre blowout on the final lap of the race and nearly lost.

Verstappen would go on to win the following 70th anniversary race the weekend after for Red Bull, his first at the track.
