Lewis Hamilton splits with right-hand man ahead of new F1 season as Brit revamps personal team

LEWIS HAMILTON has reportedly split with right-hand man Marc Hynes ahead of the new Formula One season.

The Ferrari star has shared a close relationship with Hynes throughout his racing career and the pair started working closely together when Hamilton was with Mercedes in 2016.

Hynes, 47, helped Hamilton run Project 44, which acts as the British star’s management firm.

The pair initially split in 2021, before Hynes returned to work with Hamilton again after he joined Ferrari last year.

He was in charge of Hamilton’s racing logistics and attended every one of Hamilton’s races, according to the Daily Mail.

But the report claimed the pair have now gone their separate ways once again.

Hynes is said to have started a new job with the Cadillac team that will make its bow in F1 this year.

The split has reportedly happened “on friendly terms” after Hamilton looked to revamp his personal team.

It came after difficult first season with Ferrari that saw him fail to secure a podium as he finished sixth in the standings.

Hamilton – who the Sun revealed is dating US reality star Kim Kardashian this week – is now preparing for the start of the 2026 F1 season.

He will be hoping for a much more successful season ahead of the Australian Grand Prix on March 8 after slamming his own performances as “absolutely useless”.

But he struck a much more optimistic figure ahead of the new season as he noted huge changes in driving regulation.

Hamilton said: “The 2026 season represents a huge challenge for everyone, probably the biggest regulation change I have experienced in my career.

“When a new era begins everything revolves around development, growth as a team, and moving forward in the same direction.

“As a driver, being involved from the very start in the development of such a different car has been a particularly fascinating challenge, working closely with the engineers to help define a clear direction for it.

“It will be an extremely important year from a technical perspective, with the driver playing a central role in energy management, understanding the new systems and contributing to the car’s development.”

Ferrari, who are looking for a first F1 title win in 11 years, unveiled their new livery this week.

Team boss Fred Vasseur said: “This car is the result of a tremendous team effort and represents the start of a completely new journey, built around a different set of rules that inevitably brings a number of unknowns.

“The team is aligned and more united than ever as we look ahead to the season.

“From next week in Barcelona, we will begin the process of understanding and validating the car.

“In this initial phase, the priority will be to learn as much as possible and to start building solid foundations ahead of the opening race.”
