Katie Price has spoken out about her previous cancer diagnosis while pregnant with her son Harvey.

Reality star Katie, 47, became pregnant in 2002 after a fling with ex-Premier League star Dwight Yorke. She later gave birth to Harvey – who has several health issues.

However, while pregnant, Katie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Katie Price’s shock cancer diagnosis

In a new interview on Katherine Ryan’s podcast What’s My Age Again?, Katie reflected on her shock cancer diagnosis in the early 2000s.

The model was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, commonly referred to as LMS, just 11 weeks after finding out Harvey was blind and had Prader-Willi Syndrome.

What’s more, according to Katie, she learned of a lump on her hand when a manicurist pointed it out.

“While I was pregnant with Harvey I got cancer. I didn’t know that until after, because they couldn’t do all the scans,” Katie said.

Katie on pregnancy stress triggering her cancer

Katie also revealed that she was told that the stress of her pregnancy could have triggered the development of the cancer.

The now mum-of-five added: “It was in my hand, they took it out, it was called leiomyosarcoma. Apparently I got that from being pregnant, the stress of it.”

Katie then recalled telling her mum about being diagnosed with cancer. She said: “So when I phoned my mum, I just remember going: ‘Mum, just to let you know, they found cancer.’ I was so flippant like that because so much had already happened to me by then.”

The singer went on: “It was just a, yeah, this has happened now, yeah, that’s happened now. I think about it and then I’m just like, oh, well, you just got to get on with it.”

Meanwhile back in 2002, after after announcing her cancer diagnosis, Katie described Harvey as being her “inspiration”.

As MailOnline reports, she said at the time: “The word cancer strikes terror into the heart of everybody.

“I’m absolutely reeling from the news. But Harvey is my inspiration, my reason for living and beating this thing.”
