Mick Schumacher is not giving up on his Formula 1 career as he hopes to return to the grid for the first time since 2022.
The son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher, the German had a fairly disappointing spell in the sport. He spent two years with Haas, where he only scored 12 points in two seasons with the team.
The lack of performance in his cars did not help, but the 26-year-old was highly crash-prone, costing Haas millions in damages. Mika Hakkinen says Schumacher damaged his reputation among F1 teams due to his crashes.
The 26-year-old was dropped by Haas in 2023 and has been searching for a return to the grid ever since. Serving as a reserve driver for McLaren and Mercedes, he now drives for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship.
Alpine could sign Schumacher to replace Franco Colapinto, as he faces pressure to keep his seat in 2025. But the German also has his eyes on Cadillac, who will join the sport in 2026 as the 11th team.

Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon issues update on Mick Schumacher talks
Cadillac have been in talks with Schumacher over a potential seat. The American brand offer a perfect way back into F1 for the German, with them having two seats to fill.
His previous experience with Haas and current form with Alpine in WEC make him an attractive option for Cadillac. Mario Andretti was impressed by Schumacher’s personality after privately speaking to him about a move for 2026.
Sebastian Vettel hopes Cadillac sign Schumacher, but his chances have dwindled in recent weeks, as the likes of Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, Felipe Drugovich and Frederik Vesti have emerged as stronger candidates. But the interest is still there.
Speaking via the High Performance podcast, team principal Graeme Lowdon was asked if he was interested in several drivers.
When Schumacher’s name popped up, he simply replied: “Yeah, we’re talking to Mick.” It seems he still has a chance of a return to F1.

Graeme Lowdon shares thoughts on Valtteri Bottas amid 2026 links
Schumacher remains in the conversation for a seat at Cadillac, but he may not be the favourite candidate. Bottas has been heavily linked with Cadillac as the team eyes an experienced driver to help their project.
Lowdon says he knows the Mercedes reserve driver ‘very well’ as he shares that he is looking for drivers to push the team forward.
“Yes, I know Valtteri really well. You know, they’ve [Schumacher and Bottas] both proved a whole bunch of things. Everyone wants to prove something else again,” he said.
“Our team is not there as a vehicle for someone to prove a point. Our team is there to provide a position on the pitch, if you like, for someone to prove what they can do, for sure.
“The driver’s there to do the best that they possibly can for the team, and they should be motivated for the team around them.”
