Claudia Winkleman has issued a major health update, revealing that she has undergone eye surgery.

The TV star, 53, has been a regular on screens for years, thanks to stints on shows like Strictly and The Piano.

However, Claudia has been open over the years, about her eyesight struggles.

Now, Claudia has revealed she recently had eye surgery and is “eternally grateful” to the surgeon who operated on her.

Claudia Winkleman reveals she’s had surgery

On Friday (June 21) Claudia took to her Instagram and told her fans she had undergone eye surgery.

In a photo, Claudia – who was wearing a hospital gown – posed next to a medical professional.

The TV legend looked rather different too, with Claudia opting to ditch her smokey eye makeup and fake tan.

In the caption, Claudia wrote: “This amazing human makes me see. He’s operated on my eyes before and he did it again today. No eyeliner for weeks and I sleep in goggles (no words) but I’m eternally grateful.

“Do NOT zoom in on my left eye – it’s wonky. Thank you Julian. I paid for the treatment, this isn’t an ad. I just love him. It’s very possible I’m still a bit sedated. Night, night.”

Fans rally around with support

Claudia’s fans and fellow showbiz pals soon rushed to the comments section to send their support.

Gogglebox star Izzi Warner penned: “We still have the costume and Bobby is willing to wear the eyeliner for you if you need a stand in Claudia! Happy healing.”

Comedian Sarah Millican wrote: “Hugs to you.” Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz also said: “You look beautiful Claudia.”

Meanwhile, one fan said: “Wonderful, hope it heals up beautifully for you quickly Claudia.” Another added: “Speedy recovery Claudia.”

Claudia’s ‘eyes have deteriorated so badly’

Claudia was born with myopia. This is an incurable eye condition which seriously affects her sight. The TV star was born with a -15 vision. In a bid to improve it, and her quality of life, Claudia has undergone several surgeries.

“I’ve always had terrible eyesight. Which is going back to the blurriness of the paintings I like and the blurriness of how I really like life to be,” she revealed on the How to Fail podcast.
