Air Ambulance crew ‘fought to save Ozzy Osbourne’s life for two hours’ before he died ‘surrounded by family’!

A helicopter was despatched, with paramedics offering ‘advanced critical care’ to the star

The death of Ozzy Osbourne was announced by his family last night (July 22). He was 76. Now, more details of the fight to save him have been revealed, with an air ambulance scrambled to his home.

The Black Sabbath frontman had performed from a throne on stage at Villa Park in Birmingham less than three weeks ago.

However, last night, his loved ones revealed he had passed away. Now, sources have claimed that paramedics spent two hours battling to save the singer’s life.

Ozzy Osbourne death – family statement shared

In a statement, his family said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

Our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

It was signed off: “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Wife Sharon was on social media earlier in the afternoon. She posted a picture backstage at Ozzy’s final gig with Guns ‘N’ Roses star Slash and Ozzy’s producer Watt.

Although her own heart was breaking, she also shared condolences for The Cosby Show star Malcolm-Jamal Warner, whose death was also announced on Tuesday.

Singer’s last moments and the battle to save him

The Mail reports that paramedics battled for two hours to save the star. A Thames Valley air ambulance landed in a field close to Welders House, the singer’s Grade II-listed mansion on Tuesday morning at around 10.30am. Paramedics then fought to save the singer’s life for two hours, it’s claimed.

Locals said they realised “something serious” was happening when they heard a helicopter hovering above Welders House and then saw it land nearby.  It was seen taking off again at around 12.30pm.

We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.

One local said: “I went out to have a look and saw that it was landing close to Ozzy’s house. All of us were talking about it and wondering what had happened. We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health. When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears.”

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Air Ambulance said: “We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.”

Ozzy’s cause of death hasn’t been revealed. He has struggled with his health in recent years, though. He went public with his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020.

Ozzy’s final appearance

The rocker was able to bid an emotional farewell to his fans on stage this month. It came as he reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005.

“You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he told the crowd as he closed his final concert.

Before performing his encore, he told the crowd: “It’s the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

A message on screen then read: “Thank you for everything, you guys are [bleep]ing amazing. Birmingham Forever,” before the sky lit up with fireworks.

The night was made even more special as Ozzy’s daughter Kelly got engaged after her now fiancé Sid Wilson got down on one knee backstage. Although Ozzy did tell him: “You’re not marrying my daughter!”

Family tributes

Ozzy was married to wife Sharon for 43 years. Together, they welcomed three children – Kelly, Jack and Aimee.

He also had two children with his first wife, Thelma Riley. The couple welcomed two children – Louis and Jessica – and Ozzy also adopted Thelma’s son Elliot.

Jessica posted a tribute to Ozzy earlier today (July 23). First, she posted a picture of a full rainbow on her Stories, not mentioning her dad. Then, she reshared a post featuring a picture of her dad. It had the words “Ozzy Osbourne 1946 – 2025” written on the picture.

Jessica then added her own tribute. At the top, she wrote: “RIP Ozzy.”

She’s the first family member to break their silence with a tribute of their own on social media. Jessica’s name wasn’t included in the family statement that announced his death. It was signed off: “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Louis’ ‘tribute’

Louis also appeared to react to the news of his father’s death.

He changed his profile picture on Facebook and Instagram to a sombre black square. Comments underneath Louis’ new profile picture on Facebook shared condolences following his father’s death.

“Condolences to you and the family Louis! Thinking of you all,” said one. Another posted: “A legacy that will echo through time memorial. Glad for that. However when you strip it all back. You just lost your Dad. So, so sorry for that mate.”

A third said: “Just wanted to say how truly sorry I am for your loss. Your dad meant the world to so many of us. For me, he wasn’t just a music legend—he was part of the soundtrack of my life. His voice, his energy, his spirit—raw, human, unforgettable. Wishing you and your family peace and strength right now. We’re all mourning with you, and celebrating everything he gave us. Thank you for sharing him with the world.”
