Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will start fifth and sixth at this year’s British Grand Prix.
The British Grand Prix has been Lewis Hamilton’s favourite event during his Formula 1 career as he chases his 10th win at Silverstone.
The seven-time drivers’ champion has finished on the podium every year since 2014 at his home event.
He will be pleased that he outqualified Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, even if they’ve both had to settle for starting on the third row of the grid.
Leclerc was furious after qualifying and couldn’t believe how many errors he made on his way to sixth.
However, Hamilton was far more positive, and it appears as though Fred Vasseur has led his team in the right direction behind the scenes with the car’s development.
There have been question marks about the work Loic Serra is doing at Ferrari behind the scenes since his move from Mercedes.
But it appears as though he’s finally made a breakthrough that could see Hamilton competing with the likes of McLaren and Max Verstappen very soon.

Ferrari make 2025 F1 car breakthrough that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will love
A report from the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport has shared more details about the work going on behind the scenes at Maranello.
Ferrari have stopped working on this year’s car in the wind tunnel, with focus quickly shifting to 2026.
However, that doesn’t mean that Ferrari have given up on this season, and a new floor was installed at the Austrian Grand Prix, which helped Leclerc finish on the podium and Hamilton come home in fourth.
The biggest issue Ferrari now have to solve is with their suspension and in particular the relationship between the front and rear axles.
Ground clearance has also been an issue for Hamilton and Leclerc, with the Brit disqualified for excessive plank wear at the Chinese Grand Prix earlier in the season.
Ferrari’s new rear suspension is expected to be installed very soon, which could help the team make one final step forward this year.
‘Sources’ now suggest that the work that’s been led by Serra behind the scenes has seen a ‘solution’ found to the ‘complex’ issue between the front and rear axles.
It will be frustrating for Ferrari’s drivers that it has taken more than half the season to come up with this solution.
However, with second place in the constructors’ championship still up for grabs, that has to be the aim once the new rear suspension is installed.
Martin Brundle spotted Lewis Hamilton attempting something ‘impossible’ at the British Grand Prix
Hamilton is on his longest streak without a podium finish in his Formula 1 career.
Silverstone would be the perfect place to end his wait for a first top-three finish at Ferrari, excluding Sprint events, with thousands of fans cheering him on.
Martin Brundle suggested Hamilton attempted something impossible during qualifying as he aimed to start from the front row of the grid.
Max Verstappen was impressed with something he saw on Hamilton’s Ferrari, and if he’s starting to catch the attention of the four-time world champion, then that’s a positive sign.
Ferrari will be desperate for their next update package to finally make them as competitive as Leclerc and Hamilton desire after a tough 2025 campaign.
