Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was one of just five drivers to finish the British Grand Prix and not score a point.
Every rookie on the grid failed to finish the British Grand Prix except for Haas’ Oliver Bearman, who had a 10-place grid penalty and got hit by Yuki Tsunoda.
Contact between both Haas drivers ended Esteban Ocon’s chances of scoring points, while Tsunoda finished last for the second race in succession.
Carlos Sainz looked like he would score points until he was hit by Charles Leclerc, who failed to guide his Ferrari into the top 10.
Incredibly, Ferrari’s position in the constructors’ championship improved compared to their closest rivals despite Leclerc’s struggles, with Mercedes and Red Bull both having even tougher days.
Martin Brundle suggested it was one of the worst races of Leclerc’s career, and Jenson Button had his say after the Grand Prix, too.
He believes that the Monegasque driver and his team might be the worst strategists on the grid, and all of his rivals would do well to not copy any of his decisions.

Jenson Button slates Charles Leclerc’s strategy calls after the British Grand Prix
Button was reflecting on the race for Sky Sports F1 (6/7 6:03 pm) and in response to Naomi Schiff questioning Lewis Hamilton’s frustrations after the Grand Prix, he said: “I mean, it seems like if you’ve got a tricky race like this, you do the opposite of what Charles Leclerc does.
“I mean, it’s never been a strong point of him or his engineer or whoever it is, but they always seem to come off worse in these conditions.
“I still think it was a great job by Lewis, it was great seeing him fight with George for so many laps.
“And that epic move at the restart into turn three, when he overtook two cars, that was mega around the outside, such a beautiful move.
“Then the really good fight with George and passing Pierre again.”
Leclerc was one of a handful of drivers who pitted on the formation lap for slick tyres, which the track simply wasn’t ready for.
He was forced back onto the intermediate tyres before the rain got even heavier, and had a late off going through Maggotts and Becketts that saw him sink to 14th.
Charles Leclerc says the British Grand Prix was a ‘really tough race’ for Ferrari
Leclerc remains fifth in the drivers’ championship, and George Russell was only able to extend his lead by a point after the race at Silverstone.
His teammate Hamilton reduced the deficit to 18 points behind him, with Leclerc claiming Hamilton’s performance was the highlight for Ferrari.
Ferrari are planning a rear suspension upgrade for the Belgian Grand Prix, but speaking after the race on Sunday, Leclerc admitted: “It was a really tough race from start to finish.
“In retrospect, my decision to stop on the formation lap for slicks was not the right one, but I don’t think it changed much because our pace just wasn’t there today.
“I went quite extreme with the set-up on my car for the last few races, and it paid off in the dry.
“However, in the conditions we saw here today, it didn’t seem to work as well. There is a lot of work ahead of us.”
