Brian Nolan, the older brother of Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, has shared an emotional and uplifting update on his health: he is now cancer-free following surgery for prostate cancer.

Appearing on Loose Women, the 70-year-old revealed that just four months ago, he was diagnosed shortly after the devastating loss of his sister Linda Nolan, who died after a two-decade battle with breast cancer. Another sister, Bernie, also passed away from the same disease in 2013.

Brian told the panel that his cancer had been “caged within the prostate gland”, making him a candidate for a Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy (RALP). The surgery, which he underwent recently, successfully removed the entire cancer along with the prostate.

“I got the call from my surgeon to say my cancer was completely gone and my bloods are back to normal,” Brian said, visibly emotional as Coleen and the Loose Women team celebrated his good news.

He spent just 18 hours in the hospital following the operation and now feels incredibly fortunate. “I know I’ve been very lucky,” he said, stressing how early detection made all the difference. Now, he wants to become an advocate for better screening and awareness for prostate cancer.

Brian shared that it all started with a bladder issue that prompted a visit to his GP. From there, things moved quickly: an inspection, an MRI scan, and finally a biopsy that confirmed the diagnosis—all within 6–7 weeks.

Coleen admitted she was surprised at how quickly her brother recovered, saying, “I was quite astounded by how quick your recovery actually was.” Brian agreed but added, “I don’t want to preach, but catching it early made everything possible.”
