The Chase viewers called for a chaser to be axed following an âabsolutely horrendousâ performance this week.
Teams aim to win thousands of pounds on the ITV show by defeating one of six possible quiz titans.
In the episode which aired on Tuesday (January 27), host Bradley Walsh introduced new contestants Becci, Matthew, Shenagh, and Toby.
They were up against Shaun Wallace, who managed to eliminate both Becci and Toby in earlier rounds.
Shenagh, 60, and Matthew, 26, faced off against the Dark Destroyer to take home a ÂŁ6,000 prize to split.
Unfortunately, Shaun ultimately caught the pair with just 15 seconds remaining on the clock.

The Chase viewers called for Shaun âThe Dark Destroyerâ Wallace to be axed after a âhorrendousâ performance

Only Shenagh and Matthew reached the Final Chase â playing for ÂŁ6,000 and scored just 12 steps

The episode began with strangers Toby, Shenagh, Matthew and Becci teaming up in the hope of winning thousands of pounds
Writing online, fans werenât too impressed with the close call and called for a shake-up to the show.
One penned: âShaun had another absolutely horrendous day at the office.â
Another added: âAbout time they started changing the Chasers on the show to keep it fresh.
âShaun would be the first to go, just not up to it anymore.â
A third remarked: âThat was really bad from Shaun. Jenny got 12 questions with 1 minute left yesterday.â
While a fourth chimed in with: âEmbarrassing from Shaun, anyone else would retire.â

Fans didnât hold back as they reacted to the episode on X, formerly Twitter
Not all viewers shared this view, however, with a fifth commenting: âI do love Shaun.â
Previously, the show found itself in a fix row as viewer hit out at presenter Bradley Walsh for âmaking rules upâ.
Chaser Mark Labbett â aka the Beast â faced off against remaining contestants Ian and Marsha in the Final Chase.
The pair achieved a score of 18 for Mark to catch, with the team later having an opportunity to push him back.
Bradley asked: âIn the Bible, King David saw which beautiful woman bathing?â

Unfortunately for the remaining two team members, Shaun caught them in the end with just 15 seconds to spare
To this, Mark offered up the answer âJezebelâ â which was revealed to be incorrect.
When Bradley asked the team for an answer, Marsha called out âHelen!â, with Ian following behind with âBathshebaâ.
Although Bathsheba was the correct answer, the host then revealed he could not accept it.
This was because Marsha, who was not the designated spokesperson, had âwithout nominationâ answered Helen incorrectly first.
The repeated instalment concluded with Mark catching the duo with just one second remaining.
In response to what occurred, a viewer wrote on X: âDisgraceful making rules up on the spot. Brad.â

In a different episode, Marsha and Ian had something unusual happen during their Final Chase against Mark âThe Beastâ Labbett
However, Mark came across this comment and responded: âI can guarantee that the adjudicator made that call rather than Brad.â
The fan replied: âI expect they did Mark. But our Brad is the face of the programme, and he was let down.â
And prior to this, viewers claimed a contestant âmade television historyâ with a âfirst time momentâ in the showâs run.
Amanda, from High Wycombe, explained she wanted ÂŁ800, having promised to buy her son expensive Balenciaga trainers if she won.
She bagged ÂŁ4,000 in her cash builder, but ultimately chose to play for Paulâs low offer â of ÂŁ800.
Luck proved to be on the magazine editorâs side, as she triumphed to advance to the Final Chase.
Speaking immediately afterwards, Bradley said: âThis is extraordinary.
âI think this is the first time ever in 15 years that someone has come on for something specific and actually got the amount they needed, specifically for that amount and then got through.â
Continuing, the presenter added: âThatâs a funny old journey that!â
Paul then brutally remarked: âI mean, itâs television history, but itâs a terrible indictment of the state of societyâ.
