Gordon Ramsay has opened up about a moment of self-doubt when his daughter Tilly made the decision to train as a chef.

The renowned cook, who has bagged a mouth-watering eight Michelin stars, admitted to feeling anxious that he had missed a trick by not offering her some sage advice from his own successful career in the kitchen.

Speaking candidly to Closer UK, he said: “My family is like an army now – but, thankfully, Tilly is the fist one who’s interested in cooking. She paid for herself – worked, saved the money, and has gone off to culinary school.”

Ramsay reflected on the moment he said to goodbye to Tilly, sharing: “I said goodbye and put her on the ferry and I thought, ‘F***, why didn’t she ask me to teach her? Is that my first major f*** up?’ I can’t wait to ask that question – but it just goes to show how unspoilt my kids are.

“They’re individually following their own path and aren’t dependent on their parents. I think that’s a good call.”

Surrounded by the tranquillity of his sumptuous £4.4m Cornwall home, Ramsay is a proud father to six children – Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, Tilly, 23, alongside Oscar, six, and the youngest, one-year-old Jesse. He beamed with pride as he discussed his other children, particularly Jack, who has carved out a place for himself with the Royal Marine Commandos, reports Cornwall Live.

Gordon reminisced about his own childhood traits, saying: “I was energetic, boisterous, and competitive – but not really a handful. I was grateful.”

Despite already being a dad to six, whispers have been swirling that Gordon Ramsay might be considering adding a seventh to his brood, even with a history of heartbreak. In the 2010s, Gordon’s wife Tana, now 50, endured the devastating loss of a baby boy named Rocky through miscarriage.

Opening up on Loose Women, Tana spoke openly about the ordeal saying: “It’s such a personal decision when you have a baby and this was 20 years ago.

“The way that I felt, the way Gordon felt, it was something we decided on together. He wasn’t with me when I gave birth to Meg or the twins or Tilly.

“However, things changed as we got older. I lost a baby in 2016 and Gordon was an absolute rock throughout that entire tough period.

“Honestly, there’s no way I could have coped without him right by my side.”

When he isn’t at the helm of his hugely successful restaurant empire, Gordon can be found on his own YouTube channel, dishing out handy cooking tips. He believes in a simple test for gauging culinary skill.

He explained: “If they can make the perfect scrambled egg, you know they know how to cook properly.”
